My cycles are getting shorter! Eeek!

Has anyone else experienced a big difference in their cycles post baby?

DD stopped BF just before her first birthday. AF returned that month too so she's only been back on board for 5 months. Before DD, after coming off the pill, my cycles were pretty consistent - 28 days, cramping first followed by heavy flow (within the hour) which gradually backed off lasting about 5 days. My cycles were the same when AF returned last August but last month was bizarre-o with several days of spotting first then a very light period making my Dec cycle only 26 days. Very, VERY odd for me.

I was expecting AF this Friday, at 28 days, but she just caught me totally off guard (ie no spotting, no pain!) and just showed up then - at 25 days

I know periods can be a bit different after a baby but it's doing my head in. We plan on starting to TTC #2 in March so I'm a bit concerned now that my LP isn't long enough. I've bought a stash of digital OPKs so I'll start using them this month just to really find out if I'm O'ing, although according to my temps I did last month - around CD17.

Any thoughts/comments? Is a possibly short LP anything to be concerned about?

    TIA!

PS: for chart stalkers, here they are - last month and my BFP chart from 2 years ago http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/240d3b

I have never been regular unless I was on the pill but since having DS I have charted more and noticed it really does vary. I go from 33 days to next cycle 28 days the next one 31 days! It's damn annoying too! I am not on the pill or any other form of female contraception as I get really hormonal and moody. I have noticed tho I am now very heavy with my flow and the cramps are worse. Maybe keep an eye on it and if u get concerned see your gp. HTH xx

Thanks for your reply Teresa I'm glad I'm not the only one with random cycles after having a baby! This period is a little more normal than my last one but it's definitely lighter and less painful. Hmmm, someone remind me why I'm bothered by this?

It'll be interesting to see when I actually O these days. Sadly, I'm quite excited to use my OPKs this cycle and see how my chart looks at the end of the month. Tragic!

After DD my 28 day cycls became 33-34 when I was on the pill and anywhere from 26-36 off the pill. I'm UTD now so obviously something's still working

It could jsut be random post-baby irregularity. I know before I had my thyroid removed I had undiagnosed underactive thyroid and my cycles were quite short and light.
