DD1 went for the full 3hrs with a full class today and she didn't want to leave, she loves it and talks about her friends.

Wow. I can actually post in here now. I didn't know they had 3yr old preschool here until last week. I thought they only did it for 4yrs like when my eldest was little but that was years ago. Lol. I didn't expect to be going straight away this term. I thought he'd be on the waiting list and possibly start next term but when we handed in the forms this morning they said how about thursday. I was only expecting a half day or so this year and full days next year too.
1. How many hours is your LO going to do?
A Full day on Thursdays. 9am till 3pm.
2. Do they wear a uniform?
No.
3. What do you need to provide?
Morning tea, fruit for fruit break, lunch. They have sunscreen but if you can put it on them before they go it helps. Hat.
4. What are your expectations?
I'm not really sure what my expectations are yet.
5. Are you excited, scared, nervous?
I'm all of the above. I've been there, done it all before but it still doesn't get easier. I'm on the verge of tears thinking about it right now. He's my baby. lol.
6. Is your LO excited, scared, nervous?
He doesn't seem to be so far. Not sure if it'll be a different story when I go to leave on thursday though. I have a feeling he'll be fine when I go to leave then maybe be upset when I've actually left and be asking for me.
7. Does your LO have friends going too?
Not sure yet. They only run the 3yr old room on 2 days or something and today wasn't one of them.
8. Have you had a LO do 3yr old before, what should we expect?
My eldest only went to preschool at 4yrs old so this starting early business is a little new to me, plus it was years ago I went through all that before.
Hopefully everyone else's kids are going well with their kindy/preschool.

Yep, my DD goes for the full three hours tomorrow. I already have a house full of glueing projects from the first three half days!

Ohhh LC i'm the same, we have about 6 of the giant poster sized painting, and about 8 A4 sheets of glueing
I'm thinking i might need to buy a MASSIVE folder or tub to keep them in just for this year and she can use some of the big paintings as wrapping paper.

Tomorrow is the first day on her own for my big girl, now that she is officially three. We went for one session at then start of the year when I stayed with her but now she is going on her own. Sob sob! My big girl!
She will be going 2hrs Tuesday afternoon and 3hrs Friday afternoon. She is very excited - but not quite as excited as det's DS, who has been asking after her every day apparently

lol yup he has been kissing her photo he is waiting for her! and their hooks are next to each other so he has been asking where she is every time we go.
Mind you he will probably just ignore her tommorow lol
hey Op - when he saw her with your sis last week he wished her happy valentines day and gave her a big hug. he did have a love heart choc for her and Ms Lou but he ate them before we got there lol!

Things are obviously different here in QLD but I just started my 3yo at kindy (qlder for day care) for the first time. The staff were very surprised, it's really rare here for 3yos to be at home full time. Actually, he officially starts tomorrow but we had 2 half days last week to ease him in. He was ready and was asking to go to kindy (he has a little golden book about it). So it was a non-issue for me. He's doing 2 days, 6.5 hours, I'll see how he goes with nap time since he refuses to nap at home.
We have to provide:
Hat
Change of clothes
Cot sheets
Fruit and yogurt for morning tea
Lunch
Snack for afternoon tea
Water
They have a strict food policy, no chocolate, no juice, no eggs, no nuts.
I'm so excited to have time now to get things done. Maybe my house could actually be clean one day.

Quick question --
I'm really thinking about calling the preschool here and asking if it's ok for him to just start by doing half days for at least the first couple of times. What do you think???
He's very attached to me and I know it'll be hard for him ( and me as well ) but by easing him into the swing of things it should help us both. When I told my dad last night about him starting preschool this thurs his first response was "Are you sure that's not too much for him?" so it made me rethink that a full day might be too much. I was thinking the full day straight up would be a lot for him but I just thought it was my own feelings getting in the way so it was nice to see someone else see it too.... Sorry I've rambled. I don't know what to do. What do you think??

Sorry hun i hadn't seen this, how has he gone? Did you start on half days? How long is he at kinder total for the week?
How is everyone else settling into kinder, are the kids enjoying it, how bout mummy?
DD1 is LOVING it, she can't wait to go every Monday & Friday and she has made herself a little best friend.
A & K met at orientation and K is a little shy so i asked A to talk to her and ask if she wanted to join in, since the start of term they have been inseperable and A gets upset if K isn't in class.
K's mum & i swapped numbers today and hope to take the girls for a play otuside of Kinder.
The thing i worry about is i asked A who she plays with, she said K (of course) and i asked who else and she said ï can only play with 1 kid at a time"so i said when K isn't there who do you play with and she says "oh you know J & sometimes L, but i take it in turns" - i think it's great she has her little friends and when we go there she seems happy interacting with everyone and seems to know all their names, i just worry she's not joining in, although knowing DD i prob shouldn't be worried.
How is everyone finding the actual kinder?
I like ours, the teachers are quite nice, seem great with the kids and are approachable.
I still haven't heard when term 2 fees are due though so the treasurer better not spring those on us late, they seem to only inform you of things at the last minute but the teachers can't control that.
At the moment the kids have a duck hatchery in the 3yr old room - they all paid $4 each and they get to hatch and then look after the ducks.
We also just had our first kinder raffle tickets come in for Easter, everyone has to donate something to go into a hamper which i wasn't too sure about but i guess as 3yr old kinder isn't funded we pay for more things you prob wouldn't in 4yr old.
We also donate a roll of toilet paper, paper towel, reem of paper, liquid soap & tissues every term?
All in all DD enjoys it, she lvoes going, she loves her friends and teachers and she's learning so i can't complain but i honestly thought i would have MORE time to get things done and not LESS, it seems by the time i get her ready, do the drop off and everything i have less time at home and more time stuffing around

Oh, I forgot to come back and update how he went.
I didn't end up calling about starting on half days, just decided to see how the first few times went on full days (9 till 3). He went really good.
I fully expected tears on his first day from him but nope, none. I can't say the same about me. I cried all the way home in the car. Lols! I thought I'd have to stay for a while with him but he told me I could go so I was a little shocked and left but kept looking back incase he changed his mind. When I went to pick him up the first day one of his teachers asked me if he had any problems with his speech because he didn't talk much at all. He doesn't, he's just shy and won't initiate the conversation if he doesn't know you. At home and with friends, etc he talks your ear off! I thought it was a little funny asking on the first day (and not to mention making me worry he's behind in his speech, which he isn't!) doing anything like this and being somewhere without anyone he knows.
I ask him each week if he talks to the teachers and he usually answers with a "no" or "No, they talk to me." Lol. Grandma took him last thursday and he was telling one of his teachers all about Grandma ( she heard him when she was walking out) so he does talk! lol.
I've had some really nice painted artwork come home and he explains what everything is. He likes going so I'm happy.
As for me: Last week ( 4th time he went ) was the first time I didn't find myself lost and wandering around trying to hurry the time up. I just got a heap of things I needed to do, done, and had lunch with my mum, then it was almost time for him to be picked up. This week I have a dr appt so it'll prob feel weird not having a little someone with me.

DD1 is loving it. Had a few problems in the beginning due to her not really listening to the teacher and wanting to do her own thing, but she has settled in nicely now. I get a piece of artwork most weeks, and the occasional paint spattered piece of clothing. I have noticed her imagination is really starting to grow to, and her drawing skills are getting better.
Fundraising, so much already! T-shirts, scholastic book club, easter raffle, hot cross bun drive. Also was asked to donate to the raffle as well. We got our bill for first term only last week, so hopefully we will have a break before the next one arrives!

We had to pay the first term fees upon acceptance of the position at orientation i think it was so i am assuming term 2 fees will be due before or at the start of term 2.
We have also been asked to volunteer at a Bunnings BBQ later this year which could be interesting as the closest one is about 30min away and DP generally works w/ends

JJ started this year as well! He is loving it and comes home with the cutest stuff like little necklaces he has made for me!! Too cute! Not as much fundraising as DD's kinder thank goodness or we would be seriously under the pump! (They go to 2 different places!) So far so good and I just can't believe DD is off to school next year and DS at 4 yr kinder! **sob**

DD is loving it. The first few times we went she was super tired and didn't want to go (no day sleep, afternoon session!) but she seems to have adjusted now. We have three hours on Friday, that's going to be the real test for her each week, but I think she'll be fine.
I have found there are mums that are predictably there early, which I try to be, and I find myself chatting with them most often. Haven't arranged play dates with anyone yet but it's so hard working part time, we just don't have time during the week and weekends are family time. So maybe once I stop work I'll be able to get more involved.
I ask DD what she does and most of the time she just says "played"
ETA: our term 1 fees were paid last year! Term 2 is due before the start of term 2. Our kinder seems really good with communications - we get a newsletter I think monthly that has some great info in there.
We're going fundraising nuts too! Just did the Cadbury box thing (may have eaten it all at home me and DH!) and apparently we have a raffle starting soon which is interesting considering I'm selling ABA raffle tickets too... hmm!

No fundraising here yet. Not sure if they'll have an easter one or not.
The fees are due in the first 2 weeks of the term at my boys preschool. Not sure if they give the invoice thing for next term at the end of term 1 or not. I guess I'll just wait.
ZF - As soon as you start something, it's time to pick her up. Are you going to get her to go for a full day just once a week or half days the whole time?
OceanPrincess - My munchkin doesn't really talk much about what he does either. Sounds a lot like your DD. lol.
Tanstar - How many days does your DD go this year to preschool? I was talking to another preschool mumma the other day and she was saying how many days she'll send her boy next year and she sends her 4yr old girl here, there, and everywhere this year. It got me thinking about how many days I should try and get my boy in for next year.

Glad to hear everyone's littlies are loving it!
We got our interview day time in a letter last week. Our kinder is not starting until Term 2 due to lack of numbers and if it wasn't for me sending DD a year early, it probably wouldn't be going until Term 3 at the earliest as it is.
DD has some seperation anxiety issues, but we've been trying to sort those out with a session at childcare once a week. Last week was the first week she didn't scream and cry when I left, and she had a fabulous day. I'll be interested to see how she goes tomorrow.
She will start on May 15th, 2 days after she turns 3. The kinder is allowing her to attend to boost numbers, but she's not allowed to attend until she's at least turned 3 officially, which is fine with me. I'm looking forward to seeing how she goes, and also seeing how far she comes by the end of the year. It should be very interesting.

They don't do full days here for 3yr old kinder, DD is doing 2 x 3hr sessions a week the other option was 1 x 3hr session a week.
I'd love to send her for longer but it's just not an option here until 4yr old kinder and then it jumps up to the 15hrs a week.
