So as the title says who else has a little one heading to 3yr old kinder next year?
We have orientation tomorrow for an hour, i don't know what to expect really other than her going, meeting her teach and the kids and having a bit of a play.
I'm trying to explain to her now that next year we will go to kinder and leave her there for a couple of hours and then Daddy or I will pick her up at lunch time.

I'll answer my own questions too, just thought it might be nice to have a place to come and chat, share our experiences for our Lo's next year
1. How many hours is your LO going to do DD1 is doing 6hrs a week - 2x 3hr sessions Monday morning & Friday morning.
2. Do they wear a uniform - They don't have to but i am buying her 1 x top, 1 x jumper and 1x hat - i figure atleast then she can ruin those clothes and after monday they are ready for friday IYKWIM - also a friend got her the kinder set of stickers for her b'day so we can use those to save loosing things
3. What do you need to provide? I don't have a lot of info bus basically i think it's just their food, bag etc - not sure on sunscreen and the like just yet.
4. What are your expectations? DD is quite adventurous and gets bored easily so i am hoping that kinder will give her a bit more of an outlet, more running and playing, songs and learning than what i can provide at home for her. We do a lot of craft, lots of things outside, riding motorbikes, we do cooking and reading, she can write her own name and the word dad so am just hoping to give her more of a chance to learn and not be as bored at home.
5. Are you excited, scared, nervous? I'm excited for her, a little nervous about her temper tantrums (it's a 3yr old thing right?) and the fact she's never been to daycare etc so not sure how she's going to handle not having all the attention
]6. Is your LO excited, scared, nervous? It's all she talks about, points it out when we drive past and can't wait to buy a bag and lunch box
7. Does your LO have friends going too 1 little boy she goes to the library with was trying to get into the same days so hopefully she has him, otherwise she has no-one

My Little one is in 3 year old kinder next year, but it is a little different as she is doing it through our LDC (on the days I am working).
1. How many hours is your LO going to do?
She will be in 3 days a week approx 8 hours per day. I believe that the actual kindergarten teacher starts at 8:30am and they go through until 5pm. The teachers have school holidays, but obviously as it is through LDC they still have a program operating during that time.
2. Do they wear a uniform?
They can but it is not compulsory (although highly recommended).
3. What do you need to provide?
Nothing as it is through LDC food etc is all provided.
4. What are your expectations?
There is a real focus where we are on making them socially ready for school so I am really looking forward to seeing their plans in action.
5. Are you excited, scared, nervous?
Excited, hoping that we finish toilet training beforehand (as need to be toilet trained). Again a little different for me as we have been going to LDC since Jazzy was a year old.
6. Is your LO excited, scared, nervous?
I don't think she has a full grasp on it as she is already at the centre.
7. Does your LO have friends going too?
Yes all her little friends that she has been at school with for the past 18 months will be with her.
8. Have you had a LO do 3yr old before, what should we expect?
No - this is my first time!
I know that my situation is a little different, but it still feels like a huge step to have her going to kinder.
Not different hun, it's still 3yr old kinder so it's great to have other people to talk to and find out what their LO is learning and where they are at.
How is the TTing going, DD1 is TT'd at home and at night but i do worry that she will slip when she's really busy with other kids around, she wants to wear knickers to orientation tomorrow so i think i will just let her wear them, ask when we get there if she needs to go, reassure her where the toilets are and go from there, i think summer will be the best to help her be 100% ready next year
DD isn't doing 3yo kinder as such but is going to 3+ Activity group next year. But I guess it is very similar. I am going to a parent meeting next week

2. Do they wear a uniform? I don't believe there is a uniform.
3. What do you need to provide? I need to provide a snack for DD and bottle of water (I am very excited as I had gotten DD a lunchbox and bottle for Christmas)
4. What are your expectations? I don't have any real expectations (that is another one of my soapbox threads). I enrolled DD to socialise. She does really well with one on one interactions but now so great with bigger groups of children. She has plenty of time to learn academically when she is in school
5. Are you excited, scared, nervous? I am excited about it. So much I am sure my DH thinks I am a bit silly.
6. Is your LO excited, scared, nervous? DD seems to be excited about but I haven't really been preparing her about it because she has no concpet of time and she wouldn't understand that she can't go tomorrow for it She knows about going to big kinder after Christmas. Once the new year comes then I will start talking to her more about it.
7. Does your LO have friends going too? DD will have her cousin in the group as well. At first I wasn't about doing this but we have been going to a "Kinda Kinder" class this year at the local primary school with him and they check what each other is doing then go off and do their own thing, so I know they won't just play with each other.
8. Have you had a LO do 3yr old before, what should we expect? N/A
ZF - great to hear that she loved it and obviously you did too!
OP - not sure about this as we are doing ours through our LDC. But I would suspect that you would stay for the orientation so it would probably be good if it was just you and your DD.
My DD has had her room allocation for next year which is one of two 3 year old kinder rooms at our LDC. They will be starting orientation towards the end of January. DD doesn't turn 3 until April, but because it is through our LDC she is able to start at the beginning of next year.
We ditched DD2 and all the parents stayed, some bought siblings but I think it was nice to be able to focus on DD1
Her sessions next yr I will just leave her & see how we go.

Not a worry in the world.
She got all her stuff ready yesterday and seemed nervous and said she didn't want to go she wanted to go walking with DD2 and I instead.
Then she wanted to make her sandwich & pack her lunch even though it was only an hour session, realised we didn't have bread so had to drive her into town at 8:30 last night to buy bread and special strawberries for kinder
COme today she was nervous this morning, still not 100% sure but she got dressed, got her bag on and was so excited when we got there, she walked straight in, hung her bag and went exploring then waved goodbye and off she went.
Picked her up and i had to carry her out (she didn't want to leave) and she cried on the way home.
All in all a very good first hr at kinder, she's lookign forward to friday and i can't wait until the 20th when she goes for a full 3hrs.
We treated her to a milkshake & a play in the park with her kinder friend afterwards too.
Hi ladies!
I'll have DD attending 3yo kinder from mid next term(once she actually turns 3). We are struggling for numbers out here in the bush, so we're being allowed to send children who don't fit the proper school age criteria (DD misses out on qualifying by 13 days).
She'll do 7 terms of 3yo kinder - 3 this year and then 4 next year. She really needs it. She's quite bright and hasn't had a lot of time with other children and barely any time away from me and DS. It will be great for her.
ZF - Good to hear your first day went well! I will have hassles with DD when she goes, but hopefully because she's been to the kinder with her brother when I've had duty, she'll be a bit more comfortable.
I also have DS who is doing 4yo kinder at the same place this year, so the teacher will be well and truly sick of me very soon. haha
So glad to hear your DD had a good day and she didn't want to come home - always a good sign! My DD went to her first 4yo session by herself. She was happy when I picked her up, said she had a good day & made a friend!
Niadalla - It's great that they allow your DD to go early! She sounds like the stimulation will be really beneficial for her!
Things are obviously different here in QLD but I just started my 3yo at kindy (qlder for day care) for the first time. The staff were very surprised, it's really rare here for 3yos to be at home full time. Actually, he officially starts tomorrow but we had 2 half days last week to ease him in. He was ready and was asking to go to kindy (he has a little golden book about it). So it was a non-issue for me. He's doing 2 days, 6.5 hours, I'll see how he goes with nap time since he refuses to nap at home.
We have to provide:
Hat
Change of clothes
Cot sheets
Fruit and yogurt for morning tea
Lunch
Snack for afternoon tea
Water
They have a strict food policy, no chocolate, no juice, no eggs, no nuts.
I'm so excited to have time now to get things done. Maybe my house could actually be clean one day.
