    4yr Old Kinder 2013

We have bought a kinder tshirt Sbd 2 kinder long sleeve tops (DS1 bless him prefers long as hurts less when falls over) and a hat all with emblem on it. Short or pants as far as aware is what ever they want, the tops aren't compulsory just cute!

DD1 had her interview yesterday and starts tomorrow - they do 4hr sessions for the first two weeks then up to the 5hrs.
She's quite excited and wants to put her uniform out tonight with her shoes and has her bag ready to go aswell, will get a picture of her setup a little later and then of her tomorrow
I can't believe she's at big girl kinder

We had our interview yesterday as well, DS1 was very disapointed we didn't need to take his kinder bag and wear top and hat!! They have broken the group in half and half will go mon and wed next week for 2 hrs each of those day and the rest will go tues and thurs for 2 hrs. So tues is our big day!! Week after they do 2 and 1/2 hrs for 2 days and week after the full 3.75 hrs. Personally find it a bit rediculous they break it down so much when is only a short time anyway.

Have a friend in Bendigo whos son is going 0830 till 1745 THATS INSANE (that is all kinder program not long day care with a kinder program running)

DD1 started yesterday. Loved it. Her face crumbled briefly when I said I was getting ready to leave but it was brief and easily comforted. She is there again today (ran off instantly when we got there, barely stopped long enough to wave me out the door) and tomorrow then two days next week - 6hr days, 5 days a fortnight.

I wrote a bit inspired by it in my blog - link to the post is in my signature or click here.

It has been kind of nice at home. DD2 has a couple of hours sleep in the morning so I'm feeling very free all of a sudden! Then getting things done without a bored 4yr old is also handy.

Can't wait to here about everyone elses first days.

The kinder staggered session are a pain. They have started the after kinder care sessions as well, but one day she is not going, but I still have to pay for the session. The other day, her session finishes at 11am, but AKC does not start till 2:30. They have just not thought about it.

I was one of the parents begging for the 15 hours over two days, rather than their two 6 hour sessions with AKC, plus one 3 hour session, with no care! DD2 has to go to childcare that day and have DH pick her up in his lunch break to take her to kinder.

Ugh that's a bit sucky Astrid!

My little guy started yesterday. I wasn't anticipating any issues (heaps of familiar faces and it was DD1s preschool so familiar to him) but he was a bit stressed when we got there. Didn't take him long though. We do 15 funded hours a week, so two days 8.30-2.30 and one from 8.30-11.30.
Our school has shirts too and bucket hats. We also get a $150 payment from the state govt to help 'cover costs' for all school kids. Not sure what I'm going to spend it on lol.

Today was no prob for him at all. DD2 was a bit lonely yesterday, but has found her groove and is all Miss Independent today.

Well DD2's first day was a hit, she put her bag and lunch box away then did a painting when she was done I asked if she was ready for me to go, no she wasnt so we played a game then she saw her friend, turned to me and said 'bye Mummy' I had to quickly grab a kiss before she was off.

We had huge tears this morning...... becuase it wasn't a kindy day

Very lucky kindy has starrted on regular hours and they get 2 full consecutive days 8.30-3pm and every second friday morning. They are also flexible with pick up/drop off which is good as DD1's school start and finish time mean we get to kindy about 8.50 and I have to pick her up at 2.45

We are still waiting to start here. DD has her interview on Monday and then her first session isn't until Thursday. She is so impatient for it all to start. Glad to hear all the happy stories. I am getting a little nervous even though I know she should be alright

My babe went off to preschool today. He was soooooo excited and I was for him too. There are a few other kids from last years class that he knows, as well as his teachers, which is great even though I doubt it would have bothered him either way. He's an easy going kid that joins in well. Since he was there last year he was the helper showing the new ones what to do ( signing themselves in, etc). It was so awesome to see and cute too.

I'm dreading how tired he'll be this arvo and how tomorrow will go going again but we'll get there.

    Re: 4yr Old Kinder 2013

DD1 started 4yr old on last Friday. it was more of a "get-to-know-you" session and only went for 2 hours. She will be going 3 times a week (Mon Wed Fri) from 8.45am-1.45pm but this week is a staggered week with today being 3 hours Wed 4 hours and Friday 5 hours. Next week will be the full 5 hours on Mon Wed and Fri She loved it and has 3 of her friends from 3yr old kinder attending with her

How are the kinder kids all going? We had the last of the orientation sessions on Friday, dd bolted off without even a wave so I think she will be fine this week with her full sessions.

My boy is lovin' it. He has a little bestie now. They go together to preschool mon & tues, then playgroup on thurs. (Our playgroup moved days this year so we didn't see his little friend as playgroup last year as he must have been busy, etc) Super cute!

Black_rose - Sounds like your dd will be fine. My DS2 usually just wanders in and starts doing whatever takes his fancy and I go find him to give him a cuddle, say goodbye, etc.

~ Gee_Whizzy~ - Awesome that your girl is loving it and has 3 friends from 3yr old kinder with her. I was so worried about my boy and if there would be people from last yr in his class that he would know but he's been fine. I worry for nothing half the time. Lol.

DS had his first day of kindy today, he is going 4 1/2 days (afternoon session) and then every alternate friday morning.
I think I woul've preferred him to be in the morning sessions but I was slack and didn't get his enrollment sorted out early enough.
The director has said that next term we could probably up him to a few full days.
I stayed with him while they ate lunch, then asked him if he was ok with me leaving, he said yep, so off I went.
Felt so strange to walk out of there without him, he has never been in any sort of care etc, but he seemed to cope pretty well.
when I picked him up he started crying when he saw me, he was sitting in one of the teachers lap, I had a little chat to teh director who enquired about his sleeping, bed time etc, as he seemed really tired. I think its just the whole "new experience thing" personally.
She also said that they will be working with him on his eating, she said he tried to stuff a whole quarter of a sandwhich in his mouth and then did the same with his apple slices... I think he was just showing off lol.
He cracked a fruity when I said its home time now, he wanted to sleep there!
Finally managed to get him out the gate...eventually....he says he enjoyed it

For those in Vic with LO's in a stand alone 4yr old kinder (ie: not cc based) - how many kids are there in the class?

Thanks feeb. Just wanted to get an idea if DD1's group size was larger than average - atm there are 28 kids and the the teacher has said there's still room for "a few more" so i'm guessing there may be some more kids starting before the 30 April age cut off...
