Needing LOTS of hugs for DD's first day at daycare tomorrow......

MummyNaomi - thank you I feel so proud of her when I pick her up and I look in the book to see what the kids have done for the day and I see photos of DD joining in with the activities of the day and can see what craft they did etc. She's part of this little community now and I feel happy for her. Something for her you know? I will really appreciate this one day a week with the baby knowing DD is happy too
You're right, they do pick up different skills that they don't get at home necessarily. Mixing with different kids, different personalities, playing on equipment we don't have at home, new craft ideas, etc....
We have brought in show and tell items a couple of times too, like a book to read with the kids and things like that, so makes DD feel more at home It's encouraged.

DD's toilet training has skyrocketed since going to kindy also and she's almost out of nappies now!! And she LOVES going to bed for her day naps whereas before we went through a period where she resisted them..... dunno, maybe it's all coincidental and timing, but I think it has played a role definitely.

Glad to hear your DS is doing really well too, that's awesome!! It will certainly make it easier on them and us, when they transition to kindy or preschool one day and then to "big" school I bet it would have been a bit hard seeing him move up from the babies room!!

Yeah, when I found out the date he was moving up rooms I was like "really? ALREADY?" But he was so ready....

Wow - thats great re the TT - we are a little ways off with that yet, but DS apparently has a fascination with the pint sized toilets at care HAHAHAHA

I really noticed skills like eating with a spoon and drinking out of a cup were mastered quickly when DS was back in the baby room, because he'd imitate the older toddlers (and want to be JUST like the big kids) and I also notice his speech really accelerating in the toddler room being around kids who's vocabulary is more developed.

He only goes 2 days a week, but it seems to be a good balance for him, I spend my RDOs with him (working p/time) and his Nan has him one other day, although in a perfect world I'd be a SAHM, I think I'll still send him if we have Baby#2 as it will give me a break with a newborn, and I really think he'd miss it a lot. He runs off when we get there without a second thought, only when he's had a break after holidays and not been for a few weeks is he a bit clingy at drop offs. In fact I blogged our child care drop off today hahahahahaha

Oh Shanti you made me all teary at the start of your thread!! lol. Your DD is such a gorgeous little lady, and sooooooo brave!! I'm dreading the day I put my DS into day care for just a couple of hours a week to start off with for him, so he can play with the other kiddies. Reading your posts has been so helpful of how to prepare myself (is there such a thing??). Thanks hun, and you're a great mum who obviously loves her daughter so much it's hard to let go sometimes. Big hugs amd well done to you both!

hadnt seen this before but really interesting to see how she went etc.im sure i will be exactly like you, crying etc,but it sounds like she really loves it! yay for you both. has she been since dd2 arrived, how did she go?? bet it was good for you to have quiet time with baby!!

Yep, she has been every week even with DD2 arriving. She went the day I was in labour actually, and DH dropped her off while I sat in the car crying during contractions as I felt so bad I couldn't be there dropping her off but I just wanted privacy and to wait in the car she was very unsettled that day they said and I feel so horrible about that but I couldn't do much about it while in labour (that's all part of my birth story to come.... ) she went the last 2 weeks also and she's been good although a little unsettled still as she adjusts to all the changes because last week DH, DD2 and I all dropped her off and that was 'new' to her as it's normally just me dropping her off, then last week it was Grandma, me and DD2 dropping her off.... so every week has been different poor thing..... but next week should be back to normal.
Best thing for her is to keep her usual routine up and to continue letting her go said the carers.
