What do you pay for child care fees? Are your fees increasing on July 1st?

Hi I am trying to guage what everyone pays for childcare around the state - Qld and country too.
Also have you been advised your fees will go up in July and if so, how much?

Asking this because here in Qld now that our award is coming inline with the rest of the country, wages have significantly increased, (yay for us) but fees most likely will have to do so to cover this increase. (boo for parents).

My long day care costs just went up by $4 - to $62 a day - starting next week or the one after? Can't remember. I'm in a rural area in NSW. The cost has gone up partly to cover CPI increases but also because the centre is in financial difficulty for various reasons and they need to raise their prices to have a hope of staying open. That cost includes morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, cow's milk etc. The parents supply nappies for the day.

The pre-school places went up around $3.50 a day I think (to around $28 or $29) and occasional care up by 50c an hour and the occasional care meals up by 35c to $3.

I'm in NSW and until about 8wks ago worked in LDC centre in western Sydney. It was a council run centre and fees went up at the begining of the year from $56-$60 a day. I think they were also planning on putting them up again for the financial yr too, to $62 a day. At the beinging of last year the centre used to supply all nappies, wipes and bum creams, as well as blankets and sheets for the kids nap time beds. At begining of this year we stopped supplying all of that and parents have to bring it in, so really that's making it more exxy for parents again. Not in direct monetary terms, but sitll costing them.
I used to use Occaisional Care for my own kids, and fees went up for $6.50 to $7 an hour.

Wow - we pay $93 a day for long day care and that is pretty average for the area, max is $110 lowest is at council centre which is $86!

Ours has just gone up to $65 a day - for long day care.

DD goes to long daycare fulltime and as of next week her fee's are go up to $66.70 per day. We'll be out of pocket an extra $26.58 per week.

I'm on the Gold Coast. Gosh I wish MY wage was going up. I think the GC has one of the highest cost of living in the country in relation to average income ratio

We are on the Northern Beaches in Sydney and currently pay $83 per day. Ours is going up by $2 a day, and TBH I was quite relieved ... I was worried it would be more. In August when DD goes into the 2-3 room it will go down to $73 - now $75 per day.

We pay $66.50 per day for LDC per child and it is going up to $69 as of the 1st of July.

We are also going to be charged $4 per booking fee (so I make a phone call to book them in, and that costs us $4 - on top of the telephone connection fee)....

Ours is $68 a day. We haven't been told it's going up and it's never gone up mid year in the past. We use a not for profit centre.

Wow $68 for a not for profit - ours is for profit and currently we are $58 - wonder what they do with all that money - I suppose you are very well staffed.

we have not gotten any notice about a fee increase with our CC and its i think $59 for a full day
our FDCer has increased by 20c per hour

Wow, full day care in my area is expensive! I've just gotten DS a place in a great centre which was $89 a day (for babies room) but is going up to $95 a day after 1 July. I know when I was looking at all the different centres though the cheapest was $78, it was a community run one, but everything else ranged from that to $105.

DS goes to LDC in the eastern burbs $65 a day. Which was increased from $60 mid April 2010. No notification of any other increases. We don't have to provide anything (we still do send him with yoghurt and fruit for his weetbix) all food (breakfast & lunch), snacks, drinks, nappies, sleeping sheets etc are provided. Same cost from baby through to Kindy room.

Ours went up at the start of the year, and our pay increased at the same time, before the award change. We're in inner Brisbane, and our rates are $81-85 per day, depending on room.

It's a not-for-profit, but being inner and urban, I'd say quite a few costs are higher and that's where some of the money goes. But also, our staff work 100% with the children. They don't do any other non-child related stuff like cleaning or food prep. Other staff are paid for that.

AND we have unlimited sticky tape. I think that's where the money really goes.

No worries - I am in Melbourne about 12km from the CBD. There are big waits for babies places in the area and not enough council run kinder spots so I think that contributes to the competition being able to charge heaps. Having said that the cost of land is very expensive our centre is ~ 3yo so I am sure that contributes to the cost.
