When my little guy had croup he was 15 months old so not as young as your DD. The first couple of days were the worst. He hardly slept & when he did we had to wake him for his medication, which at least worked quite quickly. We didn't have to take him to hospital but our GP told us if he became too distressed or seemed to be struggling to take him straight in.
Our biggest problem was keeping him quiet! If he ran around or got too excited he'd start coughing again & would get pretty upset. So we did lots of reading After the initial croup Moo also got a secondary cough from his little immune system being so low, so he was sick for at least a week.
Poor little miss, croup is awful. I hope she gets over it quickly
Cheezel - it's breaking my heart watching her cough and struggle and everything she does drink she vomits straight back up (so much for breastfeeding being so good).
She has started anitibiotics today and is on some other medication to open up her respiratory track to help her breath easier. Since she has taken those medications she has been sleeping peacefully (almost 3hrs). Obviously she needs it!
I guess in away im lucky that she isn't 15mths like you little man and she dosen't run around etc making it harder on herself!
Miss J has it every winter (and also at other times but mainly winter). I use the vapouriser in her bedroom at night and also warm showers (preferably with the fan off and heat light on if you have one). I know you are BF but maybe try a little water too. other than that, lots of cuddles and kisses
