Dd1 was diagnosed at 8 weeks, she was in her brace until 12 months as she had severe hd in her left hip. It's so much harder on you than it is on them. Dd could roll and crawl in her brace, and barely seemed to notice it unless it had been adjusted.

The best advice I can give you is to go to the appointments expecting that the time to be extended with the brace, we were told it was only going to be 12 weeks but that changed each time.

Huge hugs for you hun. Both MummyNaomi and WYSIWYG from my son's belly/baby buddy group went through it (Naomi has given some great advice for you already) and I remember how hard it was for both of them, but how relatively quickly both their kids adjusted and how well they coped. Kids are just amazing little creatures, and although I certainly wish your little Isla didn't have to go through this, I'm sure she'll be a real trooper and make you super proud. ♥

My DS#2 was diagnosed at birth. He had his ultrasound and brace fitted at 2 days old before we were even allowed to leave the hospital. I think he wore the brace you are describing. feeding was hard at first but once you get the hang of it, it is not too bad. We were very lucky becuase his was picked up so fast he was only in a brace while he was little. He wore his for 14 weeks and he learnt to roll over with it on. Harrison is now 5 and his hips are perfect. The treatment these days is a lot better than it used to be. I had Hip Dysplasia when i was born and i had a plaster cast until i was 15 months old. It is hard at first and i hated it but it is a very good thing that they picked it up while she is still young.
I hope you are doing ok
    xx
