    Extremely inflamed Skin

Miss S has a patch of bright red and inflammed skin under her arm. I was just using paw paw thinking it was just some dry skin but tonight it has a really yuky smell and looks allot worse.
I'll take her to the dr on Monday but does anyone have suggestions on what to use in the meantime? She crys in pain when I dry it so I would like something gentle.

it sounds like its from moisture.. bath water etc... you can pop some cornflour etc.. on it, it will clear up quickly, just keep the area dry

It sounds like it's possibly a fungal infection?! (like candida) they love warm places..... maybe some canesten cream like you use for thrush would do the trick but you'd have to check first it's okay to use on newborn skin..... I would say it would be ok but you'd have to check first that that's what it even is anyway.

If it is foul smelling, I would take her to the doctor. It might be worth swabbing to see whether she needs any antibiotics. Try squirting a bit of breast milk on it as well, and letting that dry.

If you want to use an antifungal, use nilstat or daktozin as they are safe for baby skin.
