pain stop night..

anyone used it?? DD2 is on it for ear infection, did you use it during the day too?? does it make then really drowsy?

Only at night otherwise they get to drowsy. Their is a day one or just use nurofen. I hope she gets better soon, my little girl has one too it's awful.

I've only used the night one at night and reserve it for bad pain situations only, and tbh I've never used it that young. There is a daytime pain stop, but again, I only reserve that for extreme pain situations (ie mouth full of ulcerated sores, broken limb). Often panadol or nurofen does the trick instead. In the case of an ear infection, you would want to be seeing some signs that the ABs are working pretty quickly (ie within a day or two) and using a very strong pain relief may mask the symptoms, so try to strike a balance between her comfort and using the lowest strength thing you can, kwim?

thanks ladies im not keen on using it, dr suggested it, but shes miserable and in obviously discomfort at night its ear infection number 6 or 7, nurofen just isnt cutting it at the moment, i dont know what to do

Ear infections are something Pain Stop is meant for. Just so you know I hope you don't feel like you're some "Drug up your kid" mother because you definitely aren't.

Give her a dose tonight and see how it goes, it can be hard getting them to take it though as it tastes awful. Hopefully after a good nights sleep she will start to get better.

I used to use a combination of panadol and Paedamin (the panadol for pain and the paedamin for the cold part). You you usually have to ask for Paedamin as it's kept behind the where the pharmacist does their stuff and they will usually come and talk to you.
DS2 used to get pretty heavy duty ear infections (sounds like your little one is too) when he had a cold and this seemed to be the only thing that helped before we got onto the AB's. I also only used the Paedamin at night as that is when the ear infection is at it's worst when they are lying down.
I would have used Pain Stop if I had of known about it as they pain he was in was just heart breaking when he had those ear infections!!

We've used it too - ear infections can be horrid. Give it to her and see how you go. When my GP suggested it I baulked but she is really thorough and not pro-medicating at all. I know you have had sleep issues but you are giving it to her for pain relief and have exhausted all other options. xxx
