oh Poor little Ivy. It must be so hard for her and all your family to have to endure this horrible thing.

I cant believe they wont let her have the treatment she needs. Why would they want her to be in hospital so often and have to continuously suffer from this? I think thats just so cruel. I just dont understand it.

I've signed the petition. I really really hope they reconsider.

The reason why they would have said no (and the reason sucks in my opinion) is that IVIG is very very expensive and in very short supply...it takes a huge number of people to donate blood for them to extract enough IgG for one transfusion and for a case like Ivy she would need more than likely need more than one transfusion.

I know this because my best friend was very very ill a few years back and needed IVIG to boost her immune system as it was breaking down and she was hopitailsed for months unable even to walk and in constant agonising pain...it took months for the doctors to get clearance for the transfusions...she had 3 and it cost an absolute fortune from memory......she is now fully cured!

I have signed and think as well as this petition people should give serious thoughts to regularly donating blood as that is the big reason why the shortfall in these types of treaments occurs in the first place...... just a thought for what its worth....

WOW! What a huge response. The petition is over 1000 now! Well done ladies! Im amazed and so happy!

A few media outlets have been contacted now and I believe thats a great beginning. The story is out there, now its up to them if they want to pick up the story, I guess. Im not too sure of the process. We all still have our hopes pinned on the appeal pending. Lets hope the Minister helps out.

Im so happy that so many people have wanted to help, and I know Tiff is too. Kelly I appreciate your offer to send it on to your contact, I will email you soon. Thanks heaps.

There is more info on IVIG if you go to www dot nba dot gov dot au
They have so much information there. But I believe melbel has answered it perfectly.

Isnt it just so strange that in this day and age, its even a question if Ivy is suitable? Its not like people without illness are asking for IVIG! I understand it, but its just so hard to believe. Where price can even come into it, if it involves a life.

A blood drive sounds like a great idea!

    Exclamation

Well I just got the best news ever.

Ivy was approved this afternoon for IVIG.

    She starts tomorrow.

Thanks so much everyone for all of your help. You have no idea how much you have helped Tiff. Just the very thought that so many people care has made such a huge difference.

Everyones signatures, I mean did you see how many there were? Absolutely amazing.

Im so relieved. Ive not even met Ivy, but the very thought of her suffering any longer was eating me up. I cant imagine how the family has handled it.

However now there is such good cause for celebration.

I dont think we could ask for anything more.

    Its huge.

    Its life changing.

    It happened!

    Thankyou so much !!!!!!
