Yeah I have instructions, I was just curious as to what others did lol
We have poo - still rabbit poo but it was softer than the one the other day. Fingers crossed it works
It took DS a day or two (because it is pretty mild, there are no immediate explosions - but when it does happen, get a party pack of baby wipes ready, my friend!), but he didn't have a build-up like your DD. The important thing is to keep giving her the stuff even after she goes. We stopped occasionally and we were back to square one. The idea is that you use it to get their bowels moving again over a period of time - at least a month or two. You can use it longer if necessary without any long term implications, apparently. Obviously giving her lost to drink will help the process along.
ETA: All of the dosage instructions are in the box. I think they have a schedule outlined for impaction, which I am assuming she has (where you increase the dose each day that nothing happens). We only give DS a sachet a day. If you don't have the instructions let me know and I can call you and give you the info.

It is good to hear that is is softening and coming out, I hope that it won't be too much longer.
I think with each person it is different, I was reading last night and some have had to give 6-8 satchets to get their LO movingso I guess, if it doesn't improve you can give more as long as it is inline with the packaging or a Dr's recommendation, we were told that with the lactuloase we should see results within 1-2 days and it took longer than that and the max dosage, along with all the natural remmedies as well.
Poor little K
Does she still seem to be in pain ?
xoxo
P.s Yay for movement !
Hope it's working more tonight Mel!!

It'll happen, stay strong and be prepared because things are gonna get messyI have everything crossed for you the poo arrives soon. My DD appears to have gone out in sympathy for yours, we are on day 4, day 5 tomorrow

poor chicken still having no poos. she must feel like crap!! hugs
How's your DD going today? Any movement?
My DD has finally let the flood gates open and we've had 3 really good poos this afternoon. I used just Coloxyl Drops this time. It took a day and a half of drops before we had action. Another one to keep up your sleeve. We'll have continued issues for some time though as DD had the fissures so we have a BIG hurdle to overcome before she's comfy with pooing on a regular basis. We normally get 5ish good days then 5ish bad days.
I found some interesting info when I was researching Coloxyl drops for myself. It's on the Royal Children's Hospital of Melbourne website so a reputable source I'd sayHere some bits that you may find helpful:
Remove frightening or painful associations
•If your child is holding onto bowel motions after a painful experience, it can be helpful to use laxatives (oral medicines) to keep the poo soft for several weeks. This will allow easy passage of poo and give time for anal fissures to heal.A healthy diet
Giving your child adequate fibre in their diet might help prevent constipation in some children who have a natural tendency. To add more fibre to your child's diet, you can give your child:
•at least 2 servings of fruit each day. Fruits with the peel left on, such as plums, prunes, raisins, apricots, and peaches, have a lot of fibre.
•at least 3 servings of vegetables each day
•less processed cereals, such as bran cereals, shredded wheat, whole grain cereals or oatmeal. Avoid refined cereals, such as corn flakes and rice bubbles.
•wholemeal bread instead of white bread
Reduce cow's milk intake to a maximum of 500ml per day (for children over the age of 18 months) and avoid sweet drinks before meals, to improve your child's appetite at meal times.Children who have been constipated for many months are likely to need laxative medications for several months, as well as encouraging healthy bowel habits.Prune Juice - this is a mild natural laxative that works in some children. Prune juice may taste better if mixed with another juice, such as apple, apricot, or cranberry juice. You can freeze prune juice to make icypoles.Liquid paraffin mixtures (eg. Agarol™, Parachoc™) - comes as a flavoured liquid, and works by softening and lubricating the poo to make it easier to pass.Macrogol 3350 (eg. Movicol™) - comes in a sachet to mix with water and works by softening the poo. This bit is very interesting as it states that suppositories DO NOT soften poo in the upper bowel.Docusate / poloxalkol (eg. Coloxyl™) - comes as a tablet or drops (which are most suitable for children under 3 years of age), and works by softening the poo.
I hope some of that helpsSuppositories & mini-enemas (eg. Glycerine, Duralax™ and Microlax™) - these are small tablet or liquid that is placed into your child's bottom (rectum). They stimulate the rectum to empty. They do not soften the poo in the upper bowel. They are sometimes recommended for severe constipation but oral laxatives are more effective and less distressing for most children. Glycerine suppositories may be used for severe constipation in infants.![]()
Oh my gosh. I can't get my head around a kg of poo waiting to come out. Must be very uncomfortable for the little possum. I haven't read all 5 pages but it sounds like there is a little bit of movement in the station and you have something that is working. I was going to suggest juice as it always helps my DD2 who just turned 2.
We had poo issues with DD1 and we think it was from all the milk she was drinking at the time (about a litre a day). She could hold on for about a week and I don't blame her the poo was hard and dry and huge. Once she stopped drinking so much milk her poo was much easier to get out but it took a while for her to stop associating pain with it.
Our Dr gave her Movicol but only half quantities because she was so young at the time but she could taste it in drinks so she wouldn't really drink it but when she did it seemed to work.
Anyway I'm rambling and don't you love poo storiesI hope DD is not so blocked soon.
just dropping in for a poo update!!hope she is feeling better today and there is 'movement at the station'

No poo!
Oh no!!! When do you go back to the doctor?
Poor little thing. Poor Mum too. It must be very stressful!
wow... she's really holding on huh? Poor littlr miss if only she knew how much better she will feel after she gets it all out.
Oh that's no good. Bugger. Is she drinking all the Movicol? Are you giving it to her with juice? That was the only way I could get it into DD but as I said in an earlier post, she hated it and only took a full dose once. The Coloxyl worked for us yesterday (see my previous post) which you could try if your DD isn't taking to the Movicol well (ie drinking it all). The Coloxyl tastes great in milk
