That is very handy! Have you had a google of it to know what to expect with it over the coming years? I have read that some people with it rarely have an outbreak so it may not be a big problem for him, but unfortunately it will be one more thing to add to The Talk when he's older.
Funny Trill, I can't bring myself to look it up tonight.
I'm hoping he is one of those....but they gave me a stock of extra tablets because they think it will be recurring
Thanks Ali....I'm debating if/when to tell her. My relationship with them is already a bit strained ATM, but she looks after my sisters kids all the time (they live with them), and part of me worries about them too....but I don't want to make anything worse.....
Awww hun Sorry to hear that. How awful for you as his Mummy to know he has this and it's not his fault. It's not anyone's fault it's unfortunately so common in society.
With herpes, even if you have never had a cold sore doesn't mean you aren't carrying the virus iykwim? So you or your DH could have passed it to him without even knowing you have it yourselves. But you don't need to even think about that. It's one of those things I guess.
I hope your little guy feels better soon hun. Thinking of you after your awful day.
Just caught up with your posts, Kim. Big hugs for your little guy and you. I hope he isn't experiencing any pain now that you've got the tablets into him. So unlucky! But hopefully this will be the only outbreak he gets and that it passes quickly. You probably know this already, but some diet tips for later include giving him plenty of meat, potato and beans and steering clear of nuts, corn and chocolate...
Goodness I didn't know it could be transmitted that way to little boys! You must be beside yourself You'd think that childcare workers etc would have to be very careful when changing nappies... your poor little man!
Regarding what it should look like: my 6yo also might have to be cut because he has phimosis... it's when the foreskin is too tight... he also feels pain when he wees and it balloons. At the moment we at the moment we are trying really hard to keep it loose with hydrocortisone so he wont have to be cut but that could still happen. So far he has been lucky and hasn't had an infection yet.
We've never had cold sores in our family so i dont know much about them... at the very least your thread has been an education!
