Ive been emailing Jess from BBH since I paid and she told me that they were sent on friday via Express (this was on friday) and said that I should have then monday. Well its tuesday, the posty dude has come and gone and he said there defently wasnt anything like that (I have a great posty guy) so I rang them and the office is CLOSED until tomorrow!!!! I normally wouldnt care but Im going away either tomorrow or Wednesday (depends how the mood hits us ;) ) and im worried its gonna come when im away. It annoys me aswell casue I paid via Paypal with the xtra for express on tuesday and it was only sent friday. Not a good thing really is it. AND I bought some baby legs and a wetbag through the consultant here in shepparton and I got them last week!!!!!
Just not friggen HAPPY
-
I think its rude as I said On the phone, you paid for express. If they can't ship the item untill 3 days later then they shouldn't offer express as a postage option. Thats not express. thats slower then normal mail!
Are you sending my stuff before you go or when you back? Just so I know fi I should stalk my postie or not.
-
Maz, I wouldn't be impressed with that, they should be offering you a credit since they didn't send it until Friday. That's not bl00dy express!
-
fluffy mail!!! yay
two berry plush one dalmation print and one ocean and an extra set of snap in boosters hehe dont have much time but just had to come on and say that haha!!!
-
Did you get onto them Maz??
-
Spoke to Centrelink earlier and found out how much I am getting back - Should be able to spend $500 on nappies and then get dryer and pay all the bills! :woot: Am probably going to get the cushie tushies with night boosters because they do suit the girls and I like the new patterns ;) If DH's cheque had arrived today I would be buying some at tonight's sale!
-
Ali - that's great news about the tax cheque!!
maz - how'd you go with BBH?
Well I'm waiting on fluffy mail to arrive. I bought 3 minkee magicalls yesterday from BBH  Very excited.
Got a question about leakage, hoping someone can help!
The last couple of nights Nina has been wetting through her nappy at the front of the nappy.
We used to have a short booster & a long booster (folded in half) with a BBB and wool cover on her at night. But the other night she wet through, so I thought I'd try and change the layout. Last night we did a long booster (folded in half), trifold booster, a BBB & wool cover. But she still wet through. We would have put a short booster on as well, but the cover wouldn't fit. She has wide hips, so we have a problem with cover sizing.
What am I doing wrong? We've never had a problem with wetting through before. I don't want to buy any more nappies at this stage as I'm normally really happy with the BBH. I think it's just the layout that's wrong.
Any suggestions?
-
Yep - BB got back to me :) - item wasnt sent express postage and was sent on friday as davina and family were on holidays and the girl in charge couldnt access paypal confirmations. BUT the girl in charge was also the one that sent the package on friday via normal mail. Have to say that customer service with BB is shiat hot!!!!!!! Not only did I get 100's sorry's, As their way of saying sorry they are sending me 2 medium magicals and a black minkee :) :). Now im just praying that it gets here before we head off!!!! My faith in human kind has been restored once again.
-
great work Maz!!!
woohoo on the black minkee too - melham will be very jealous! glad you got some resolution! :)
Jodi - i had exactly the same problem... if you filter back a little thru the posts.
I found my biggest problems was the large BBH Wool cover wasnt rising high enough over the nappy itself. Can you still see the nappy at the top under the cover... if so this is when it leaks.
I pull the cover as far up as i can - even if it means some of the back of the nappy isnt covered (but DD is a belly sleeper) and it has since stopped the leaks at night.
I use the short and long (doubled - found works better if doubled UNDER itself not up top if that makes sense) and i have been hiding the trifold under both snap in boosters.
Give that a go tonight making sure the nappy is totally covered well by the wool cover. Or buy some longies... this was the advice given to me by the girls on here :) . I have some llamajamas on order... hoping they will help
-
Maz - I'm glad you got great service with them - its hard to find good service anywhere!! And woot on the free nappies!! WOOOOT!!!!!!
Jodi - do you put the booster on the outside of the nappy between the BBB and wool cover?
Got fluffy mail today!!! woohoo!!! Unfortunately the hose for the little squirt doesn't fit, so we have to send it back to the company to get another one. But his cow print huggalugs are soooo cute.... I put him in them for my OB's appointment today, together with a lovely green d'lish... ahhh.. was cute...
WOHB: Black Monkey Doodlez..
-
Jodi, PP's been a good student! :P Could you have the same problem as her? I found my BBH wool covers dipped in the front centre, just the way front closing cover seem to be shaped, and I don't find the larges to be that generous, I'd love to see a BBH XL size!!
Like PP said, some wool with a longer rise (pretty much any knitted cover) should do the job. If we're not using wool, we use Motherease Airflow side snapping PUL covers.
Maz that is freaking brilliant service! I hope BBH stuff something up for me one day! :cryinglaugh:
-
Wool cover covers the nappy completely. There's plenty of rise. If only they were a little wider. We make sure there's no nappy showing. I have the boosters inside the nappy.
nelle - I sent an email off to BBH asking about extra large wool covers today.
maz - that's fantastic! Fingers crossed it arrives tomorrow for you.
-
Perhaps you need a trifold on the outside as well.
Where is the leaking... front, back, legs?
Is any of her clothes getting accidently tucked into the nappy :)
Is it for your 2 month or 2 year old? As it sounds like a lot of boosting for a 2 month old??
-
It's for Nina, my 2 year old. We checked the clothing, but nothing was accidentially tucked in, and it's leakage at the front. Because of her wide hips, we can't fit any more boosting in, the wool cover doesn't cover the nappy properly.
I've been using the BBH boosters and one of Maz's trifold boosters. Are they the best boosters to be using, or should I be using something else?
-
Thats all i use for booster (BBH).
And it is the large cover? I find that i need about 1-2 cm over the cover against her belly (not including the binded edgeing). This stops my leaking - and the nappy is TOTALLY soaked - like you could squeeze wee out if i tried lol. But like i said with the large it means the back is not totally covered but DD is a tummy sleep so it doesnt seem to leak at the back for now.
I found if i hide the trifold under both snap ins and i found the large one atthe front UNDER itself.. it reduced the amount visiable at the front top of the nappy - that with movement can push up higher above the nappy.
After you put the cover on - run your fingers from back to front in the legs and pull up and re-velco... this is the best way i have found so far to get more at the front and i have the velco tabs on sort of a downward inward angle to keep the front up this high over the nappy
(wow that all sounds confusing sorry!)
But like nelle said - hopefully the XL will be better. BBH said the new covers are taking into account the need for night boosting so that upsizing will not be required anymore.
I would suggest try some longies.... i will let you know how the llamajama gofor us when they arrive.
-
Yeah it's a large. I'll do what you suggested tonight and see how I go. Thanks.
-
I'm pretty pleased with myself today. It's bin night (the garbos come early tomorrow morning) and there's only 2 bags in it. One from the kitchen and one from DS's room (we're still using disposable wipes). Heaps better than when we were on disposables!
Must dash - he's rousing..
WOHB - BBB - blue one I think!
-
Where did you hear about a XL BBH wool?
Are they on the website?
Also... this might be a stupid question :( BUt if you cant use zinc etc on MCN's due to absorbancy issues... if the MCN is A pocket AIO - with a microfleece inner... is that ok?> as the Microfleece isnt absorbant anyhow? Seems silly to put a microfleece liner in a microfleece Pocket?
WOHB - CB OSFA Pocket
-
PP - the reason you can't use creams on nappies is that it creates a barrier. So if you use it on a microfleece topped nappy, it will sit on the microfleece, creating a barrier and preventing the liquid from getting to the absorbent stuff underneath. The more you use, the bigger the barrier will become. And it's a pain to scrub off. HTH!
 I got an Isoki bag yesterday!!!! It's fabbo. And two more Cute Tooshies (cos they're not being made anymore) and a new Bamboo insert for my BP.
Um, haven't been in to say hi to everyone for yonks - sorry. E has been teething and I've been figuring out this modding thing. But mostly E teething. But have been lurking to see how everyone is - hi and hugs to all. Will try to catch up soon, maybe once Mel has had Mehkelti I'll be able to get a word in sideways :p
WOHB: Probably a BumG. DP changed him.
-
Hi gals, long time no post...just thought i'd drop in and see how everyone is doing and see if you can help with my lastest MCN disaster (yes, there's been another one!)
I've had one of my BumGs (one of my new yellow ones - I love them too Janie!) go mouldy in the dry pail...GRRRRRR... It was dirty, so I got rid of the poo, gave it a quick rinse and then put in in the dry pail. Went to wash it the next night and it had mould all over the inside :wall: Gave it a hot wash, soaked it for a bit, took to it with a soft nail brush but it just won't come out...so, oh wise ladies of the cloth, any ideas or should I just cut my losses and bin it?? Any ideas on WHY it happened?? :dunno:
Gigi - just wanted to give you this  have seen a few of your posts about lately and sounds like you need a few babe.
Suse - WTG on the mod job...
-
willow - I had a nappy go mouldy as I accidentially dropped it behind the washing machine, when the machine machine was leaking (I didn't realise at the time it was leaking). The only way I got rid of it was the sun, I think I had to leave it on the line for a few days. Are you having sunny days ATM where you are?
Sorry, that's all I can suggest.
Well DH couldn't find the nappies tonight when he was putting Nina to bed and I was in the shower, so she's in a sposie. We'll have to try tomorrow night with the layering and see if we can prevent leakage.
-
Willow - not exactly the same thing, but we had the babies car seat go all mouldy from the weather here and I washed it, scrubbed it - still had the mould on it - put it in the sun - mould all gone!!!! I didn't even have it outside in the sun, just on a clothes horse in the spare room near the window... maybe that could work ?
Jodi - good luck with the night nappy issues - there is always Snoozywuns.. hehehe ;)
WOHB: Green kids - super boosted for sleepy time!!!
-
Thanks Jodi, unfortunately not much sun around atm, bloody FREEZING here at the foot of the Blue Mountains - I'm sure FJ could attest to that as she's UP the bloody mountain! Feel you pain on the night nappy issue, DS is almost 9 months and we're STILL in sposies at night with a nappy change at his 10pm feed cause he leaks through everything.
I'll try sunning it out though when we get some sun..hoping it will work! Will be soooo annoyed if I have to chuck it.
**ETA: Thanks Mel, sounds like sun's the go...if only we had some!
-
Willow love don't bin it! I have had a mouldy BBB and now I can't tell which one it was! This mould was black and red and really nasty looking for a few washes but it did sun out eventually.
I also gave it a good nuke in the wash with dettol rinse and hot water to kill the fungus.
Jodi have you used longies? I think that may help especially if they are very hight rise.
-
Sorry, can't help with the mould thing - but glad to hear about it in case it happens to me sometime!
In relation to what PP was asking about the barrier creams - is there ANYTHING you can use on nappy rash that is safe for a MCN? I figure cornflour is ok, but anything else that will treat the rash, not just prevent it? I often use the Palmers Bottom Butter or calendula ointment - but they're both oil-based (I think) so I'm sure they're not good for the MCN...
WOHB - BBB & wool cover (nighttime nappy)
P.S (Raven, I remembered to Edit!) - Someone suggested I use some hugalugs under my longies to keep DS warm... wouldn't they wick wetness from the contact with the nappy? Or would you not pull them up all the way and leave about a cm gap?? Confused girl here! :dunno:
-
Thanks Sam - did you use it while it was mouldy or just keep washing it and sunning it till it came out? Looks pretty funky, not sure I want it near my dear boy's bum, even with a liner in between!
PS - was soooooo excited to see you have a little princess on the way!
-
I'm confused (it doesn't take much ) ... what are longies again? Where do you buy them?
Willow - Sammi suggestion about the dettol is a good one. I think if you did that, then you should be able to use it again, even if it's stained still??
nettie - sorry, no idea. Do you use liners?
ETA: just googled them, now I know. What do you think they'll be like in my weather (very hot in summer)?
-
Jodi - I'm going to be using the shorties in the summer months here ... not THAT much difference between your heat and mine, you are just a bit more humid up there (and you can keep it.. pmsl... )
Nettie - I got some cream off one of the nappy websites that says its ok to use with MCN's? Haven't tried it yet, cos still got some other cream so I just use that with a sposie.. but will be trying it soon... I figure if they tell you that its right to use with MCN's.. then I'll sue their butt off if it isn't.. lol
-
hmm jodi - get shorties babe, youd be better of with them
AHHHH Willow honey how the hell are ya chicken!!!!!!!!!!! you can always come down to Melbourne and sun the nappy down here ;)
ETA - snap Mel - now go and have your dame baby woman!!!!!!
-
Nettie I use curash powder too and it works well as long as the rash isn't really angry like that nasty teething rash. Then I use flushable liners and slap on the barrier cream.
Also I don't think you'd need to use anything else besides the wool longies. Reccon they would be plenty warm enough but if you want to use the hugalugs then leaving a gap should be fine.
-
Jodi, you could do both Longies and soaker - Soaker when it is hot, longies when it is cold.
I am going Nappy Shopping tomorrow!!! :woot:!!! I have to get DH to sit down with me and help me choose. He wants to see what I am getting so I don't get too much girly stuff. But what he forgets is that we will get a baby bonus for #3  can anyone guess what I will spend that on? I will be in heaven buying nappies tomorrow! and for spending ove $500 I will also get a 10% off voucher!
-
Way to go Ali !!! Have fun!!! I don't need any more nappies... :(
Although it would fill in time whilst Maz is waiting for me to have a baby... ;)
-
I'm good Mazaroo, waiting patiently on these new creations of yours....gonna make sure I nab me some before you sell out this time! LOL Lovin' your covers with my BBHs atm...
-
For those interested, I sit on about 5 to 6 degree MAX during the day, funnily enough though it only drop to 2 or 3 in the nights, occasionally I hit 0 or just below at night.
I learnt today that while my Max day temps don't get much higher then my min, my min temp is actually warmer then down the mountains minimum temps. Apparently Richmond (So willow I am guessing it safe to say Penrith also) actually get colder as your minimum temps at night then I do. Not sure why. Its just that during the day I peek at 5 LOL.
-
Mel - what does that cream have in it? I've heard that you can't use an oil-based or zinc-based cream with the MCN's - so I wonder what it's made of?
Be curious to know if it's very effective when you get around to using it... after you've had that Rabbit - of course! ;)
P.S - FJ : I live in a valley - we get frost here a lot and our 'cold' is cold!!
-
Nettie - this is what I got:-
Baby Bottom Better Balm
This light but protective balm is petroleum free and perfect for use with modern cloth nappies as it will not cause a build up on your nappies. Made with three healing herbs plus Calendula, which is an anti-fungal flower, it has excellent healing properties and helps keep baby's bottom dry by providing a barrier from moisture. Use for urine contact and yeast infected nappy rashes as well as cradle cap. Very effective and this tub will last you ages! Gentle and perfume free
-
Wow FJ, that sure is cold! I hope you have a good heater, or a fire or something. How do you get your nappies to dry? Thanks goodness it'll be warmer when your new little man arrives! I think I should stop complaining about our cold weather
Willow, I second Sam's idea of using the dettol rinse a couple of times. Between that and some sun (when you get it ;)) I think it should be alright. Please don't bin it!
Maz, what are talking about, crazy woman, there's no bl00dy sun in Melbourne! PMSL! Well there is ATM I guess, but it won't last long  Do you get really cold nights where you are, or is it not too bad?
WOHB: BBB with Maz minkee cover!
-
hheheh wont be long now girls until my ticker will change again ;) heheheheheehhe
