Nettie - *snap* DS is wearing a Sandman and longies tonight as well... although we aren't expecting any leaks..

Ooh have to share some good news - DH used cloth nappies on DS the whole time I was in hospital, and did a load of nappies too..... even though I told him for ease that he could just use sposies..

everyone together now.. awww...what a good DH... hehehehe

*stroking the computer screen* Mel its great to have you back on BB.

WOHB: sposie.... DH has decided that with the being up all night new thing that Jovie is doing that it has to do with nappies, so we are back to sposies at night. TODDLERS NEED SLEEP TOO!!!

ETA: FJ... piano's are fantastic, we will be getting one ASA we leave this tiny hole of a house.... We will buy an old piano and "fix it up" sometimes old pianos haven't been treated nicely. Have a visit and borrow or find an old tuner. You can get them at guitar shops etc.... and find out how to use it to see if something is "in tune" play 1 octave (8notes) and see if they are the same frequencies out or on from what they should be.... I hope that makes sense. The other thing is what Nelle said, wait a week until the piano settles and get it tuned properly.

That IS a good DH Mel! If there are sposies in the house, DH uses them

I so hope that my nappies are quicker than expected! I HATE waiting! I am going to try and pick up one of my B4B wins tomorrow though! We will meet in the city at lunch time if I am not sent out of the city for work.

I read the tags on the pockets that still have them, and most of them are able to be thrown in the dryer! :woot: I now have clean DRY nappies! I think we will last MUCH longer now! Might even give CC some nappies every day soon! I also found out that all of my Cushie Tushies can go in the dryer, so we wont have any sposies left in the house in the next few weeks!

WOSB: Sposie - Hurry up nappies!
WOEB: Cushie Tushies Couture with added night booster and home made soaker.

I wonder if one could knit wondersuit type things and if they would work for overnight leaks, hmmmmm that is an idea! like an undersuit for night use when it is really cold or just for wear on it's own during spring and autumn when it is getting brisk.
I think it's Disana (at the WeeWuns) that sell overall type things and also sleeping bags for newborns, entirely made out of wool - so i don't see why not.

I've had so much trouble just getting belly belly site to load for me the last week or so. So if i posted and it didn't work, i have longies that i have washed many times, and they still leak dye, so i accept that as buying something that is handmade and hand-dyed. The instrustions advised separate washing, so i do each one in ti's own bucket. That's alright for me with one bub, i can sympathise that is just too much when you have three (+ one cooking ) FJ.

The bilbstar has gastro so i;m putting her in covers with a trifold laid in, something terry closest to the top e.g bamboo terry, hemp terry, with a flannelette liner next to her. I'm washing the MCN items that don't have elastic in them, at 90 degrees. Everything else, i'm washing at 60 degrees. Giving the pockets, AIO's, a rest for now. THe trifolds, boosters, etc are getting a good workout (and our one leg gusset cover esp) and fitteds with terry inners. I'm assuming watery very pretty bright yellow stuff means gastro. She is not interested in even a rice cracker, very lethargic and just wants booby milk all the time. Not even wanting to knock down a tower of building blocks, not like her normal self at all.

I lost a whole post before when the forum crashed grrrrrrrr. Here we go again, but a much shorter version LOL.

Welcome back Mel! Hope it's all going well hun I will post your nappy to you ASAP, but can't leave the house ATM cos DS is sick AGAIN! Don't worry, I won't let him near your nappy with his germs. And woohoo, he didn't poo in it either time LOL. I would have thought the pad fold would work well for girls too? I used it on DS from when he was a newbie (5lbs1oz) and honestly, it was the best thing at keeping the poo in. You just have to make sure you tuck the legs in nicely as you fold the front bits around IYKWIM? If that's done well you hardly need a cover! *sigh* I miss using flanny flats, with no snappi or anything. I think I mostly miss having a child lie still for his nappy changes, instead of seeing it as some sort of challenge to frustrate mummy more and more everytime by crawling away

    Sal, how are you going?

Bah, my brain just won't work, I think I'm seriously overtired. Off to bed for me now, seeing as it's still early I might even read for a bit, what luxury! (As long as DS stays asleep *touch wood*)

    WOHB: BBB

ETA Sorry GIGI missed your post. Poor Bilby, hope she picks up soon. It sounds like it could be gastro, there are some nasty ones going around at the moment apparently. Just watch her wet nappies and keep offering her boob. Yay for booby milk!

Janie - you don't need to hurry sending that nappy back honey, whenever you are finished with it and admiring the colour!!!

I'm going to be using sposies until she stops raising her legs and flinging them around at every nappy change!!!! She HATES having her nappy changed (much like her brother.. )

Will have to try to fold it Sal's way (which was a smaller version of my way anyway ) to see how I go. I have a mother-ease cover in a newborn size, so that should be good enough to go over it hey...

Just a quickie - Mel - WELCOME BACK HONEY!!

Gigi - kisses to the poor little Bilbster (but no kisses to her bot - staying well away from it). And kisses to her poor mummy who gets to be nurse. No fun for either of you. Hope she picks up right quickly and is back to knocking over huge towers of blocks soon.

That's it - I'm off to bed. His Lord & Master-ship was up most of the night last night and has just gone down, so I'm going to sleep while I can. Nighty night to you all.

WOHB: whizz kidz nightz, bear bottoms MM fleece cover.

KATONES - how to wash MCN?

in general, read the DRYPAILING INSTRUCTIONS at the ozclothnappies website

for particular brands, google that brand, find their website, they will have Care Instructions there. I know for a fact, that baby beehinds have Care instructions on their site, so thorough in fact, that they stipulate HOW to peg them on the line ROTFL. i would put links for you (if only i was allowed).

everyone does it a bit different, depending what sort of washer you might have, what floats yah boat, etc etc. so ask ten people, you'll get ten answers.

me - i'm anally retentive, so i go for the Whole Nine Yards. We have a front loader, it has a Baby Cycle, so i use that. Put one tablespoon of Omo Sensitive in the PreWash drawer, one tablespoon of omo sensitive in the Wash Drawer, nothing in the fabric conditioner drawer, press start and walk away. the baby cycle is prewash, wash and medical rinse. real slow, like two hours, but nice n gentle.

when loading up the machine, i put the aplix stuff in one wash bag - don't trust aplix not to stuff up other mcn. Put malden mills fleece MCN in one bag to keep it nice. Put any black nappies in a wash bag so i don't get black lint over light coloured MCN. but i am a fussy cow, so don't worry if you don't do all this. (i only have one bub).

and try real hard to keep any HAND KNITTED WOOL ITEMS separate from the washing machine. it's so easy to SHRINK wool, but harder to UNSHRINK wool. Sing out if you want help for lanolising woollies.

GUDISM - yeh to your DH for using MCN while you were in hospy. Congrats again sweetie.

Folding flats for newborn XX - there's a uk website called THE NAPPY LADY - that's my best bet for you. For the meconium, i would lie in some microfleece liners, let THEM take the worst of the mucky stuff. at that stage, i was just darn grateful for the leg gusset covers, that saved me many a messy cleanup. Hallelujah for whoever invented those!!

MAZ - can i join your "envious of the knitters" club too? LOL Some of us just can't read a knitting pattern to save ourselves! I'm more of an "appreciator".

AJP - can you really get GREEN kala cups? i have aqua and purple, green sounds good too.

Gigi's bargain roundup - Imse Vimse soft PUL covers for $20 at NN -in size small (5-8kg) - wonderful for pootainment.

Well I washed & lanolised my wool covers last night - they're hanging to dry now. The instructions I received with the latest cover said to add a drop of baby shampoo to the lanolin water - do the rest of you do this? I forgot so I hope it's not going to make a big difference...

Also - do the barrier creams also stop the microfibre working? What do they do, make it waterproof?? I might start using the disposable liners whenever I use a barrier cream...

    WOHB - happy heiny

Oh! - welcome home Mel! The longies/sandman didn't leak, but DH had to change it at 5 am because of doodies... he usually saves them for me, so DH was so proud to havecaught one!!

Oh, and I didn't add any shampoo to my water when lanolising? I just did them all the same way as instructed on the baby beehinds site.

Bea - that sounds like a fantastic night!!! Glad you got out and about..

Gigi - thanks for the tip as usual!! the meconium has stopped - but its the yucky yellow mustard type poos now - YUUUUCK!!!!
