YAY ethan is in a pad fold and motherease!!! woohooo!!!!
Does anyone know if the swaddlebees wraps have gussetts on the legs like the M/E?
PP - like I said - will answer here.
Yeah M/E are the bomb - love them to death. Miss M was in them for about 7 weeks I think? Some of the smalls are only JUST fitting her now, but the nb are a bit too small - especially in the rise - with the exception of the M/E.
Gigi - Its difficult with one - especially if they are throwing a tantrum!!! We are ALWAYS running late in this house....
ETA - Nelle - I looked on the DD website - apparently I've been putting the ecobubs on the WRONG way.. pmsl... the pocket bit actually goes on the front.. PMSL...no wonder it just didn't look right.. ROFL
thanks Mel!
Will try out the bummis and a swaddlesbees from ebay as well.
Do you think with those 2 and your 2 in rotation will be enough for the next 6 weeks?
:) So excited to be able to use the clothies yayayayayayyaya
PP - yeah should be. I lived with just those for a while - but had a few AIO's I could use - so I would use a prefold, then and AIO, then a prefold - with a different cover - so my covers were getting a good airing. Didn't have any poo explosions either on a cover - until today!! BOOOO... lol
cool!
Yeah i have a few AIO but they are small not NB.
Did you pad fold or snappi prefolds inyour covers? Ooooh i hope lil' E doesnt cause any poo stains on your covers... i will try to be careful promise!!
my poor little man has a red bum.. and i feel bad :( it is caked in cream.. if it doesn't look any better tomorrow i will be off to get some hydrazole cream...
so definatly no clothies tomorrow :(
do you think it could be the sposies? making his bum red?
katones - can you try a good coating of Cornflour after you dry his little bottom ?
will have to get some tomorrow...
i had the most bland dinner tonight to see if it is anything i have been eating...i am only going to eat bland for the next couple of days and see what happens...
I am also getting some of that paw paw salve one of the girls in here told me about.
He is such a content bub but with his sore butt.. it makes me feel soo bad... having to see him like that and having him in the damn sposies
Kat - poor thing!! DS goes red straight away if put into a sposie - so it could be??? I found bepanthen to be by far the best bum cream.
PP - stains would wash out i'm sure... with the prefolds - I snappied them - so fold it into three - then make the back half like a triangle by pulling the wings out - and turn it over at tthe front. She has slim hips so it always fitted...
I find the pad fold gives that little more absorbancy for ethan.
hopefully the leaks wont be bad. I have fleece liners in and it seems to grab the pumpkin poo and hold onto it :)
The flap at the front inside... do you tuck the padfold under that?
huh???
PINK - a few brands have that bit at the front on the cover inner, where it looks like you should put the tail end of the prefold pad in there, i thought about it, but decided against it, cos that would have meant bilbs would have had PUL against her tummy - and i thought about it - and decided i would rather have bamboo against her tummy (a natural fibre).
if you are after leg gusset covers, here are the brands that do leg gusset covers that i can think of, i bet other people can add to this list for you:
- thirsties (at nurture nappies)
- bummibrites (same)
- tots bots - not sure about the newest ones, the flexi wraps, but the type before those, had gussets
- motherease rikki (you didn't answer my question about what size your bub is)
- modern baby
- imse vimse
- bambino mio (it's either Kazbah or Ecapris who knows where to buy these IRL cheaper)
thanks everyone - for putting up with my whinge about going out - i tell dh that going to the beach is not just something we can do SPONTANEOUSLY anymore, but he keeps springing stuff like that on me, and wonders why it goes pearshaped! i find this maddening. i would like notice to prepare.
FJ - i REGUARLY spend the "ok, we're not going anywhere now, until i find my sunnies or key, despite that i THOUGHT we were all good to go.
the person who keeps the nappy bag in the car - so you bring it inside AFTER the trip, decant, refill and THEN put it back in the car? i tend to put last minute things like sippy cup with fresh water, and snacks in too.
i thought i was disciplined having the childcare nappy bag packed the night before. have a long way to go yet!
last night i typed out "cheat sheets" listing all the things we need to have packed, for various outings. wonder if we will even remember to look at the lists!!!
i really did expect you all to tell me to "pull my head in and stop being so silly"! so thanks for your kind words. aw - :grouphug: emoticon inseert here!!!
WOTBB: night nappy put on by dh (he's not entirely a lost cause!!).
oh and PINK PALACE, i know that nb poo is very yellow, but between the little squirt and the microfleece liners and using the pre-soak on the washing machine cycle, i was able to give back lent nb nappies WITHOUT stains, so dont' worry hon. i was so nervous about what condition those nappy inners would be!!! but it worked out fine.
KATONES: bilbs rashed up early on, to JJ baby wipes, the ones marked "Sensitive". then i read the list of ingredients and realised why. Next step was to buy 30 cloth wipes and only use those with water, to clean her at change time.
Have you read "what's in a sposie" at the Nurture Nappy website? you find it under INFO as you look ACROSS the top of the home page. click on INFO, then WHAT"S IN A SPOSIE. I find it entirely feasible, after reading that, to think that very thin and new skin like on a nb, could be affected by sposies.
i have a Gastro Stash ready for anytime bilbs gets the runs. Flats, prefolds, contours - all MCN without elastic - that can be washed at 90 degrees. (and leg gusset covers to handwash). i read a fantastic thread on nappycino about bubs in sposies or MCN during gastro. and how to manage it in cloth. THe bubs in sposies had LONGER attacks of gastro because the environment for the gastro bug to thrive, is what sposies provide. I've only had to use it once in two years, but it worked. (using loopy fabric, very simple MCN). and no microfleece liners, cos you need NATURAL fabrics, not synthetics, to make the environment less attractive to gastro bugs.
(this info is not to make you change what you're doing, it's just to let you know there are alternatives). I'm not sure i would have had the "where with all" to do this with a nb, i did it when bilbs was much older.
thanks Gigi - i thought the same and put them on top of the flap (sorry to confuse you mel lol).
I am using flannel prefolds in them and they seem to last 2 hrs until soaked.. have my bamboos too ready and waiting... might keep flannels for day time maybe???
Just a trifold bamboo seems thick to stuff in the little cover! :)
PP - sorry honey - pure baby brain here. No I didn't put it in them.. LOL.. I snappied.
i put baby beehind foldups (double layer of bamboo fleece, 30 x 30cm) padfolded into nb covers, from five days old. (for a baby with a birthweight of 3.79kg).
you still haven't said what your baby weighs! would you prefer not to answer that? this is the last time i'm asking (in case it's offending you).
Gudi - is it the Ecobubs that have the pocket opening on the tummy side? Most pockets have it at the back end, so i coudl well understand you doing it back to front. (i would have too).
Katones another thought here... and not one to worry you too much, but sometimes when they have a food intolerance overload, so something they could usually tolerate, but you've consumed heaps of in the last week or so, can cause explosive yellow poos. I mean the almost frothy stuff that explodes straight away. Matilda had that, and I didn't know why, but when Jovie had it I found out that its frequent in milk overload. Both my girls are allergic to milk though, so thats different but it definately changed things when I went off milk.
Really??!! Well...I "heard" it works just fine back to front anyway. :D:
ETA - Nelle - I looked on the DD website - apparently I've been putting the ecobubs on the WRONG way.. pmsl... the pocket bit actually goes on the front.. PMSL...no wonder it just didn't look right.. ROFL
Gigi - don't worry, the number of times I've gone out with out nappies and wipes, you know a bottle of water and a singlet can do an awesome job of cleaning up poop, as can toliet paper, McDonald serviettes, tissues, the spare change of clothes we keep in the car (which she has always outgrown by the time i need to use them!) I had a similar situation to yours with nappy at the beach and Ari sitting unexpectedly in water! Have no idea what i did. I remember once when DS was little he ended up going home wrapped in a blanket as he had pooped all over both sets of clothes and the 3 nappies I had (sposies -thus the pooexplosion) Ahh it's awesome what we women can do under pressure.
Nelle & Arimeh - I did the same with my GNST! Took me a few days to figure it out.
Nappy news - woohoo Ari has slept thru the last 2 nights in cloth and :crossfingers: we're making it a third. Bought the most gorgeous minky slushie abby grow from cuddlesncloth pink with orange top - so hard to decide with all those BEWTIFUL colours in front of me!!!
Ali - thanks for popping in and showing us your gorgie nappies at RNW. Today went so quickly and I am completely knackered
Anyway must go sleep while Ari is still down in case we have yet another wakeful night.
WOHB : Bumg with extra bamboo and hemp boosters and Maz cover (finally found a good use for my velco Bum G)
Had a great time at the expo, very tiring though! Got myself a little fluff though, so very exciting! Was amazing how many people were interested in MCN. More were interested than not i thought which is great.
I also got my gorgeous Pinnies from FJ. And not only is the pinnie gorgeous, she gave me TWO!! :o What a kind, thoughtful and lovely lady you are FJ. Many thanks. MWAH. MWAH. MWAH. (Thanks to my pack horse for lugging all my stuff down too! Shanks Mazza) :D
Hmmmm i 'think' i used to put my ecobubs on back to front now that you mention it Mel!
PP- how did you night go with Mr E in cloth?
Kat- hows bubs bum this morning? por little thing.
ohh them melb girls- glad you all had a great time at the expo...
Ok i have two feral children for giveaway.. its only 7:30 am and they are already at it. Annika is literally screaming the house doen because i told her off (YET AGAIN) for being into my photo albums.. I have no where else to put them and she keeps distroying them.. plus Teleah is having a tanty too cause she was in on it (you would think at 4 she would know better) so any way i have locked them in their bed room til i am ready to leave.
seriously how many times do you have to say no about the same friggen thing? im ready to crack smae ***** different day.
WOAB: lime Dlish
WOMB: ohhh yeah another lime dlish lol (matching bums, as well as matching screaming fits)
Gigi - sorry hun didnt see the wt question lol :P (you know me hlaf a brain). He was 7lb7oz at birth.. not sure now. so that is about 3.4kg???
I might use the bamboo trifolds at night and the flannel during the day.
Does anyone else leave bub in a wet/dirty nappy when they have drifted back to sleep after a poo? Or do you wake them to change them... stupid question i know.
Beatrix - It was a purely cloth night yay! Only had 1 poo explosion out the side of the bummis onto my sheets doh! but The cover is sparkling white again! Gigi was right and they wash out perfectly! yay for Mel!
I was very proud to have a cloth night! yippee
I've always changed them then put them back on the breast if need be to get them to resettle
thanks fj. that is what i have been doing :)
Same with burping. He will fall asleep on the breast (as we are cosleeping atm) and i think i should burp him... but then it wakes him and i have to put him back on the breast.. and the cycle continues!... but if i dont then he wakes with belly pains!
Well i put E in a small BBH PUL. It s a little big but i think it wil be ok for pad folds during the day and the NB at night with the snappis bamboos... i find the pad folds are just that bit thicker and bulkier in such a little nb cover.....
gotta go.. ashley is armed with crayons and i have lost sight of her!!!!
Gigi ROFL I always forget stuff but I just don't care ;) Sometimes I am thankful that my car is usually a mess because that means I can forage in the boot or the back footwells and find a hat, jumper or whatever. I've put one of Masons jumpers on Caleb once which was hilarious
DH used sposies on Caleb while I was away which I expected. Poor fella had a red little date though :(
I've also got a bucket full to wash which I totally forgot about. I should have done them on Friday night. Too scared to lift the lid of the bucket
Oh... My... God... I am not really handling nappy changes ATM. Over the last few days E has decided to turn into screaming, wailing, twisting, turning, trying to throw himself head-first off the change table, will not let me put a nappy on him at all costs baby. But this morning was nearly impossible.
Distracting him with a new toy doesn't work, singing to him doesn't work, playing peekaboo with a cloth doesn't work, remaining calm and talking softly doesn't work, I'm embarrassed to admit that completely losing the plot and screaming at him doesn't work  (no surprise there, all it ended up with was both of us crying our eyes out), taking him off the change-table and sitting him on my knee doesn't work, the only thing that does work is the two person change - ie: one person to literally and quite forcefully pin him down whilst he thrashes about and screams, the other person to change him. Which probably isn't helping the situation, it must feel like torture for the little guy, it sure feels that way for me.
Unfortunately DP is at work so I'm on my own, I'm scared that if I try to physically hold him down I'll hurt him, and my back and shoulders are absolutely stuffed so I physically can't wrestle with a nearly 11kg boofhead anyway. He's actually too strong for me. It took nearly 25 minutes to change him this morning and by the end of it I was in so much pain it wasn't funny, and E was so distraught by the whole thing he's only just calmed down now. And it wasn't even a pooey nappy, I'm dreading poo.
Short of actually tying him to the table, I really don't know what to do. I know that it's probably just a phase as he is just starting to walk and is hating anything that stifles his ability to run around like a maniac. But in the meantime - PLEASE HELP!!! (lol)
WOHB: a slightly lopsided Cute Tooshies and Sugarpeas wool Cover (and funnily enough, fitteds and covers are actually easier ATM, because they are a little more resistant to being poorly fitted than an AIO)
aww Sammy I would be scared too!!
Yes, My car is also in a state at all times. At any given time I could find socks, shoes, jumpers, hats, macca's toys, cars, trains etc. Not to mention food wrappers, tissues (used!!) and the occasional cheese burger & or nugget! Yes it is very disgusting at the best of times. Rather shameful really. BUT at least there are no used sposies hiding under the driver seat!
I used my new nappy bag yesterday. Its not as bad as I thought it would be. It hangs on the stroller well & I could fairly easily access the things i wanted.
So girls how was the expo?
eta - Suse, put him on the floor to change him, Sit with your legs spread out & him inbetween. Then lye him down so his feet at your stomach & then use your calfs of your legs to hold his shoulders down while you change him.
Its tricky but it works LOL.
Its a very normal stage & there isn't much you can do to stop it but to ride it out. Its call the crocodile roll in this house.
oh suse, I remember those days with Nina. It's hard isn't it. I want Emily to stay still for as long as possible.
I don't even want to think what my car looks like ATM. I know I haven't cleaned the inside of it in a few weeks. I just get the kids in and out of the car, and don't look around. That works best
FJ - I pulled out my nappy bag this morning and dusted it off. I've been slack and have been using my handbag (I have a large handbag, lol). But now that I'm carrying around food for Emily and Nina, plus nappies and whatnot, than I thought it was best to get the nappy bag out.
I'm hanging out to get my itti bittis which Maz grabbed for me on the weekend. I luuurve ittis!
Thanks FJ - I'll give that a try. At the very least it will give my thighs a workout :p And if he rolls around on the floor he won't fall off it. I just wish that he could understand that if he could just be still for a minute or two, it would be over SOOOO MUCH QUICKER, instead of this interminable pain and torture...
Oh, BTW, did I mention that we have a WALKER!!!! He's been taking increasingly less wobbly steps for a couple of weeks now, and he can get from the computer to the coffee table (about 1 1/2 metres) without falling over!!
HI ya chickies...totally knacked here!!!!
Thank you to all the girls that turned up and let me have the pleasure of their company on saturday. I had a ball :). I am so tired and my legs feel like their gonna drop off after yesterday. Nelle - I have to get into contact with you asap about you know what ;)
Going back to catch up on the goss
WOMB - Black IB
Yay for the walker Suse!!! woohoo!!! And yup classic nappy change trouble - we did a similar thing to FJ - tucking his legs under my armpits and bending down work well  on the floor too.
We are currently going through a "lets-kick-daddy-in-the-nuts" stage here. I may not get a chance for the 3rd child by the time he grows out of the stage!!
Nelle - it certainly works very well backwards ;) lol
Gigi & Ange - well I'm glad I'm not the only one...lol (no wonder DH complained all the time that they were a little awkward to put on DS....lol - whoops!!)
Bea - I so know what you are talking about - its DVD's here
WOAB: BumG (daycare)
WOMB: Tots bots & m/e cover
https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...ry.php?cat=967
ethan is wearing his first mcn!
Ta for the tip FJ - it sort of worked a treat. At least it kept the top half of him motionless, but he howled and kicked and thrashed his legs about so hard he was bright red and dripping with sweat by the end of it. Poor little guy, he was really distressed, but what can I do, he's got to have his bum changed... DP wouldn't want to try it without some serious protection, some of the kicks I got HURT, and I'm a girl! It was still a bit hard getting the nappy on, but it only took five minutes as opposed to twenty-five, so that's a positive. I really hope he gets over this phase soon.
Mel, what's the thing with boys, eh? E loves to grab, bite, stand on, poke, prod, squeeze and generally mutilate DP's balls.
Pink - yay on Ethan's first MCN. Such a cute photo too. Ashley seems to adore her little brother...
Welcome back Mazeroo!!
WOHB: Bamboozle and Maz camo fleece cover.
Well there go SUse, the croc roll & walking tend to go hand in hand. Why lie still when you can go where ever you like!
Evan was walking by 10 months also & oh how nappy changes were so much fun!
Another thing you could try, is get him to get you the things. So ask him to get you a nappy or the wipes & come lie down etc. He may be a little young to understand but if he thinks he is helping mummy he might be more willing KWIM
PP that is so cute!!
Hey Sam, I want to see an updated belly shot women!
LOL FJ, it's definitely a bid for independence, I shudder to think what he'll be like as a teenager.
OMG I just got the cutes fluffy mail!
I got 2 NB bettle bums off NC & OMG they are seriously tiny fluff!!! One is white minkee & the other is a funky duck print. Not a massive fan of Bettle bums as in the past I found the fit too small for ISla. But the price was right so I grabbed them.
I also got a pair of NB longies which a orange colour way with a mushroom on the leg, with a matching hat. Again OMG Im soooo clucky!
Also got a pk of snappis from ebay (6 in total) & then some bits n pieces for the baby too. socks etc.
MY GOWD I AM SO DAME CLUCKY!!! Hurry up baby!!
Suse change him on the floor! Bribe with a bickie/rusk/bit of apple, whatever is his favourite. Or even a special toy just for nappy changes. Caleb was fascinated with a tube of cream. Must have been the twist off cap!
FJ I've been thinking about getting out the tripod and striking a pose. I've definitely dropped after this wekend. Won't repeat myself again as I posted in the expo meetup thread but I overdid things a tad
Gee I should have had a bet with Maz. She was sure you were going to go this weekend ;)
PP what a cutie :D
Nappies are washed. Wasn't as bad as I expected (thank goodness!)
FJ - I like to put all our OSFA nappies folded to newborn size when I put them away. Makes me cluck too.
Funny non nappy thing happening here atm - Sarah is watching her Dorothy DVD (again) and is saying some of it at the same time as Dorothy! Man this kid watches this DVD too much!! She knows it almost word for word!! Well the words she can say.
PP - He is so cute!! I cant wait for newborn fluff on a newborn in my house!!! only 7.5-8 months to go
Suse - We are floor changers here. I let them run away nude when it is only a wee and then I catch them and make them lay down again. With poo, I wipe then let them run. We havent had any accidents doing that and everyone stays happy.
Saram - Was a good day. Maybe next year I will put ads in the community diary on the radio station I listen to. Needs 2 weeks notice. We will get more people to the RNW picnic eventually!!!
