    afternoon ladies.

A bit grumpy here - washed one of my mama liners with the MCN and the colour (fuscia) ran! I"ve washed this one several times. Lucky its only got the stuffing and not the actual outers (my mango d/lish was in there!) so I can live with that. *sighs*

Kat, I like our magicall too, but I dont like that it takes longer to dry than our other nappies. I would like to be able to take the microfibre bit out too.

Not much happening her nappy wise ATM, they are back to full time use, but that's about it.

Gigi - thanks for the info on the GK nappy. I have never done a strip wash so perhaps it is time. That is the one where you use dish detergent (a tiny bit) and wash (HOT) until the water runs clear yes??

I would be terrified to put any of my nappies (aside from prefolds and terry flats) in the dryer!! How long would I leave it in there?

I forget who is thinking that perhaps I'm pregnant - sadly I'm not - but my window of opportunity starts today and ends the day after I leave for the states, so needless to say DH and I will be taking full advantage of the next 11 days or however long it is until we go.

The longest DH and I have been away from each other since our wedding 8+ years ago was the five days I was in hospital when DS was born so 24 days apart is going to be INTERESTING to say the least.

Not sure how DS is going to go either. One minute he wants to spend all his time with daddy and the next minute he is being crazy and rude and refuses to speak to him entirely. I'm hoping this is a phase that passes soon.

Gigi: You mentioned teething and asked how long it lasts??? It continues until they have all their teeth up to the 2 year molars. So count her teeth and if she has 20 then she is done. If she doesn't have 20 then you have some more teething to deal with. James is thankfully and blissfully done with teething now until he starts losing teeth! I'm so glad because EVERY tooth was a NIGHTMARE!

I think that is all for now. We had our 3rd annual family reunion today and it was fun! James was very tired though so he is in bed and asleep now and I hope he stays that way for a long time.

Suse: I'm with you on the lack of sleep thing. James was doing HEAPS better and sleeping 6-10 hours straight but now he is reverting to old habits and waking every 2-3 hours! I'm having insomnia issues (probably because of the impending trip) so I'm pretty wrecked!! I hope you get some more sleep soon.

I hope you do too hon. Isn't it the worst though when they go back to waking heaps after a nice little stretch of sleeping well (just when you've got used to the concept of not having to hold your eyelids open with matchsticks)?

Speaking of, we are just rocking him to sleep now, so hopefully tonight will be better than last, although the way he's been today I'm not holding much hope. So tired...

But we have had success on one front - he did not scream, cry, or thrash about like a maniac during one change today. He still tried to escape a couple of times, but that was minor compared to what we've had before.

Suse, as i read about Euan's crocodile rolls, i realise we ARE doing all those distraction tricks too! it's a fight to get bilbs to sit, or lie down. after i have the nappy off her, i give her nappy free time on the changetable, use the time to put away her clothes/MCN that are on the single bed (my sorting area). Have a shoebox of little toys, little books, anythign to entertain her. Now she is starting to choose the next nappy she wants on, will sit there holding said nappy against her cheek, saying "Oooahhh" in a very animated way. this gal lurves minky!

i find getting a nappy on her, while she standing up, to be an absolute deal breaker. i always end up having to do it again to get the right fit (so we don't have leaks).

Lil P - yes, the strip wash is the GENTLE dishwasher liquid trick, then rinse until NO MORE BUBBLES. for just a few items, i would handwash.

in the drier to re-seal PUL? i would GUESS ten minutes, maybe read the Happy Heiny site, that explains this sort of thing in great depth. (they make PUL pockets too).

i frequently tumble dry fitted MCN, but only for a few minutes. it makes the pile of many fabrics fluff up. but PUL/fleece ocvers, PUL/fleece pockets dry so fast by themselves, no reason to tumble dry them, unless on the rare occasion you wanna reseal the PUL.

WOTBB: wotevah night nappy dh put on her while Aust Idol was on. No-one comes between me and my Idol fix!!! I breastfeed during Idol but i'm not leaving the room!!!

RAVEN - the Lupi Lu is well over the tonne mark online (and that's before postage). $80 was tres excellent!! good on you. If you see it anywhere for similar price, please let me know.

Oh and for you zebra minky fans, i saw a lovely zebra nappy on the daddledoo site, at wahmnaps. Christy, you didn't read this, it was MINKY, so look away NOW!!!

KAZBAH - i think WAHM made mama pads, are often like WAHM woollies. It's often a hand dye colour, and most things you buy in life, you know how it says on the label "wash separately first wash" or "wash with similiar colours first wash" - well i reckon that applies esp to mama pads and woollies. i bought one purple velour mama pad and i STILL have to wash it separately - the dye did not set properly.

Cotton velour, the WAHM's can buy as is, but with bamboo velour, many buy it in natural and hand dye it themselves, often for spunky effects.

if you want to avoid having this happen, stick to cotton velour or microfleece toppers, or natural bamboo velour colour.
