Nah they slowed down & didn't pick up properly by 3 so I took some panadol & went back to bed.

WOHB: BumG and shorts to prevent Mr 'Look Mum, I can take my nappy off and put it on my head, aren't I clever?' from doing exactly that. Why is it that he learned how to do this the day after my lovely new GKs arrived? I am so feeling the GK love, I just wish I had bought them from the start instead of BumGs.
Speaking of the dreaded BumGs (my love/hate relationship continues) - the saga continues and I need some advice from the gurus. (please!!)
We still get leaks, probably 1 in 4 times, although, we've just had three in a row with no leaks which is good. The elastic is pretty shot in all of them, but some worse than others - but the ones with shot elastic seem to leak less than the ones with good elastic (:confused:). At the moment I'm using two microfibre inserts - and wondering if that is part of the problem, whether bamboo might help (although I don't get compression leaks or 'fullness' leaks, just leaking out of the side of the crotch, which can often happen even on a dry nappy. And it could be that he just doesn't suit a wide crotched nappy, except that I never have leaks with his other wide crotched nappies like Blueberries (and now GKs). And they tend to leak more often when he's wearing pants over the top than if he's just wearing the nappy.
We've just moved onto the largest size, so they tend to slip down a little bit onto his hips - no matter how tightly I put them on, and because he's running around like a crazy thing the inserts tend to bunch up around the crotch, which is where they leak.
My next plan of attack before giving up on them (which I really don't want to do because I have 12 of the bloody things, and they look pretty cruddy now so they really aren't saleable) is to redo the elastic in all of them, and to try using a bamboo insert instead of the microfibre. Any other suggestions?
Suse - if it helps at all - we use both the microfibre inserts with our bumg's - if I only use one - then I get bunching and leaks out the side - so I use both and it seems to stop that problem. Thats on DS too - havent' tried the BumG's pockets on DD yet (don't have nuff to share round.)
Sorry - I just read your post PROPERLY and noticed that you said you already use two inserts. Thought I read that you only use one. Soddy. Scrap everything I said above.. lol
Sorry, no suggestions here Suse *hugs* - unless you try wrapping a bamboo in microfibre to get the quick absorption and then the holding power of the bamboo?
Latest casualty of the cleaning lady: a freshly lanolised BB wool cover was put through the machine as well.
I'm going to ban her from touching my MCN.
On the bright side, the sun is out and the temp is rising, so we'll be showing off some MCN at the bbq this arvie :)

Thanks guys! I'll try combining bamboo & microfibre. Yeah, Mel, the bunching was worse with just the one insert. I think the elastic being so crap doesn't help either. I have to be so pedantic about stuffing BumGs, making sure that the inserts are just perfectly flat and straight, but then they bunch within about a second of it going on him. (In a way I'm kinda hoping that I don't solve the problem with the BumGs, then I can buy more GKs... ;))
Kaz - you must be about ready to strangle your cleaning lady with a nappy. Grrr... Enjoy your BBQ!
Maz - I've met Jodi a couple of times before - she lives in Cairns same as me. Last time we caught up was when Emily was about 8 weeks old (I think). I think she had this meet up in Brissy (or am I confused).

Suse - I'm with you on the GK love - I think their inserts don't bunch cos of the hourglass shape - thats what i figured anyway - me love them to death!!!! Sometimes (shhh!) I use a BumG insert inside a GK over the bamboo ;)

Strangely I LOVE my peapods bamboo inserts. Hate the nappy, love the inserts. Starbumz inserts are weird, don't fit their nappies easily.

Suse we had the same bunching up problem with a few different nappies. Not much you can do about it but a bamboo trifold might help as it's a bit thicker. I hear you on the cruddy looking BumG's!

Had a pre labour session lastnight and for a while there thought it was all on but like FJ mine fizzled out by 3am too. Having BH's ATM but nothing too serious I don't think.

there are Greenkids inserts on the Greenkids ozebaby store, they have specials there, either bulk packs (like ten) or seconds, always for a good price.
KAZBAH - OMG i cannot believe what your cleaning lady is doing to your stash!! does she know what each item cost you to buy? She could have mucked up 100's of dollars worth of MCN!!! I do not think this is vaguely annoying, this is expensive for you!! Does she truely understand what she's done? I would really be spelling it out to her.

dh has been putting her in fitteds and green varigated shorties lately (one is a bilby pair, one is a rainforest friends pair), i love seeing her in woollies, it amazes me how trim they are - i always expect them to look bulky. Weather is too warm for the longies, i'm missing those. i should start facing facts that most of them she won't fit into next winter - sigh.
I've been finding it hard to get online - haven't even been lurking much (I miss you guys). Mr Walking is doing just that and is into EVERYTHING, especially computer cables. But we get our new computer furniture (and my DJ booth - YAY!!) next week-ish courtesy of DP's dad so once DP varnishes it I can at least sit at the computer without Euan getting into trouble/electrocuted if he plays under my feet.:
The BumGs are well out of warranty - they're V2s. The V3s came out about 2 months after I got mine :doh:. But I don't think that it's specifically an elastic problem because it doesn't just happen on the nappies where the elastic is shot, I think that they are not the best nappy for E at the moment maybe also because he's still a little short for the rise on the largest snap setting which doesn't help the bunching when he moves around. As well as fixing the elastic (which is a pretty well known problem on the V2s) I think I'll try my GK inserts in them and see if that helps - and will keep an eye out on the GK ozebaby store for seconds.
