woohoo, the first!

With the negativity to cloth - well, I have my mini-pocket keyring and people tend to think I'm a bit fanatical about it all. And I really don't give option to people - I supply cloth, and if they want sposies, they have to buy them themselves. Including DH.

WoHB - BBH with IV PUL cover, soon to be dream-eze with cfa soaker.

I get quite a bit of negativity towards cloth, I don't think it's likely to stop any time soon. I just shrug it off and give them the "you parent your child, I'll parent mine" line.

I'm beginning to think we need a few night nappies. DS has never wet through at night but since he picked up this damned runny nose and congested chest he's wet through every night (3 nights now).

So, Maz's night naps aren't available at the moment. Can someone give me solutions while I wait for the May stocking or give me IN STOCK options?

Morning morning!! (whoops, afternoon already? Geez its been a long day)

I met up with Rhyb this morning in brisbane, and a few other BB girls (hi Lea!!) which was cool - I had no children so that was a bonus!!!

Was nice to sit and chat with people and have a coffee and not worry if my child was running around destroying things!!!

As to negativity about cloth - I haven't heard that much really? A friend of mine doesn't understand why I would, but hasn't made any other comments - PLUS - she brought 2 bumg's for her daughters teacher - so I must be doing some influencing..haha...and my mum doesn't really like them, but doesn't say anything to me.. and my sister just says.. gee you must have LOADS of time apart from all that washing...

Yeah cos I stand over the sink and scrub every one of them... I don't just chuck them in the washing machine and walk away or nothing

i've not copped much negativity but haven't started using yet. i've had a couple of people say "why" but when i explain the money, environmental impacts of sposies and the fact that, essentially being single a lot of the time, putting a load of washing on over night is gonna be a hell of a lot easier than trying to drive 40k round trip if i'm running low on sposies

my folks started off with the attitude that, if i wanted them to look after bubba at any point, i'd have to supply sposies - and when i replied that i would supply nappies that we used, and if they didn't like that they could buy sposies and that my daughter had best be in cloth when i take her home they realised that they wouldn't win on that argument. picked up some fluffy mail on the way to their house one day, showed them a couple of iishfly's and i have now converted them. the only problem i face now is my dad NEEDING to have nappies that match outfits properly (like the cow cover and dress!) and if what she's wearing doesn't match what nappies are in the bag, there will have to be a change of clothes to match it! lol

actually had mum say to me the other day that, when we work out if any osfm nappies work really well on Gremlin, i have to let her know and she'll start building up a stash to cover two days a week ready for when i go to work - mum has no issue washing the nappies (hmmm, how far she's come in a few short months!) and would like to have a small stash ready for when i go back to work to take some pressure off me! i did say it would be fine for me to supply nappies (she can still wash if she wants!) but i think she just wants to help as much as possible. her comment was "i'd go through a pack of sposies a month looking after her two days a week, and we agreed i wouldn't ask you to buy those, so i may as well spend that money on something that will help us all out" - hmmmm, maybe i have a couple of cloth converts on my hands!

I washed all the nappies and ran out of pegs so hung some inside in the airer. The Maz covers were all at one end, and Milo walked up and grabbed them (there were 3 on there) and said I like these ones the best mummy, you should put these ones on the baby

I also got the most devine pair of mongies from Bizy bee but bardge arse has grown and they are to small to fit over his thighs......dont know if its cause the way he walks and has developed (stupid cerabal palsey) or cause he's a chunker....13.2kg now ib'S are starting to look very small on him these days

Longies and flongies will be rearing their heads in the next few months......I should pull my finger out and make my own jsut dont hav eenough time

Had a big clean up on FB to...I hate having people on my FB when I dont even hear form them or they dont even answer back when you have made a comment ect at all...culling time - 30+ GONE!

what a pity about your gf's, i went thru that same realisation at about the 12 month mark, had to say goodbye to all these beautifully made, lovely mcn that just didn't fit my gal right. (all front closing ones). some i was very attached to!
we had to swap over to sidesnappers for the same reason, that was the only way bilby's thigh circulation didn't get cut off, and we were able to get the fit right on her skinny waist. don't worry, there are lots of SS out there, when you start looking, just ask if you need some ideas. (yes, my name is Gigi, and i am an enabler).

if anyone knows where you can get COTTON blanket sleepers (one a giant onesie with feet) for the older toddler to sleep in, please LMK, even my friend, Goggle, cannot tell me where to buy them in Oz. all the ones i find, are made out of polarfleece.

everytime someone mentions those Lushies on SHP, i get all clucky!

Maz, i get all confused with people sending me friend requests on FB, they send their REAL name, and often i prolly only know them by a forum name, so if they don't tell me their forum name AS WELL (which most don't), i don't know who they are, or how they might possibly know me. and i don't feel confident to click OK to someone i don't know who they are. i need my memory jogged and a context," i'm X , you know me as Z, and i've talked to you on forum Y." then it's all good.

Marlene, there is a great "DIY knitters" section on Nappycino, where you can read all about WHICH wools to use to knit longies with, and the knitters discuss loads of different pattern. People post about "i'm having trouble doing the ______ part" and then other knitters post "have you tried X", so it's a friendly group of mad knitters of mcn mainly. e.g longies etc. That's where i would look, if i was suitably gifted at knitting!

So don't be tempted to buy any old wool you might see UNTIL you have picked the brains of the DIY knitting group, they will save you buying the wrong stuff.

bilby is still in her longies - as pj pants - at least we still have that! but i really should cull all our woollies, too many for a child not in nappies, to have, anymore.

i do have a large pair of aqua llamajama longies that are surplus to our needs, in perfect condition. i was waiting for bilby to grow into them, and left them sitting in the cupboard, meanwhile, she tt-d.

Jess - which ones you looking at?
I have had mostly negative experiences with EBay non-brand nappy buying. Having said that though, I found one recently that was better than average, but still dodgey.

Michelle from SHP puts up 2 sandmans every week or so, free postage, but the same price as the SHP website. And you can find many brands up there. Last week there were heaps of new IBs and Magicalls.
Just keep checking back.
I would avoid and of the nappies that seem to have about 50 listings - they are crap and I know cos I tried them lol Generally they are made with the wrong fabrics, the cut is atrocious and the velcro cuts in and is cheap and nasty.

Having said all of that, post the item number so we can have a squiz and you may come across a good one!

LS... Thanks heaps... I figured the mass listing ones would be cheap and nasty... There were a few things i have seen um GK- but noticed no inserts just the outers... few Peapods...- not sure if there anygood. Um yeah i saw the sandman.... Hmm will have to take another peek...

Never had a peapod jess but from what I hear they arent much good. Then again some love them. Think they are a bit mass produced entry level, they are sold in RL baby shops and things.
Check out the sustainablehempproducts dot com dot au if you like the sandmans, they have other sizes on there. As I said, the only difference is you pay the postage. But they have so many other beautiful products it is worth checking out anyway.

I sometimes look at the ebay US site - they seem to have bulk BumGs and things up quite frequently, and are WAAAY cheap most of the time- even with the conversion rates. Postage can be a bit exxy but if you are careful you can get them cheaper than here too.
