the pawpaw ointment in the black tube is nutraceuticals I think, and the yellow one is Simmons. Don't know for sure! I've found none of them have helped when DS has had NR, but he hasn't had it very often. I usually just use a liner and a smear of penaten and it's all gone within 24 hours.
BG - the flannel flats are often hiding somewhere unaccessible, I found some with the cot linen in Kmart! If they don't have them where you are, and you want some, let me know. I'm happy to hunt some down for you here in the big smoke! I found prefolds to not be very useful for multi-purpose stuff - for example, DS was a chucker and I lived with a flanny nappy over my shoulder and a pile of them on the arm of every chair in the house for months. I still use them as nappies now and then.

Ali, I wouldn't use even the tiniest smear of lanolin without a liner, unless you want to lanolise your nappies! Lanolin is one of the hardest, most PITA things to get out of fabric, because it is soooo waterproof, and because it will coat the individual fibres so well, even scrubbing doesn't work well. Sure, it's one of the best barrier agents you can use (sunspirit do an excellent calendula infusion in lanolin base, it's fabbo), but I only use it with disposable liners because it's so darned difficult to get off.:

If you are getting flanny flats, make sure you get the ones with the 2 blue lines around 2 side. lol
Dont ask me why but they are the best ones I found.
I got mime at Target, but had to hunt around about 4 stores - eventually found them in a city store. They are ace. :)

ladies - just want to have some flannel flats for newborn stage and like the idea of the versality of them for later on. i'm hoping to not be in hospy too long, and i do have some nb mcn's (and lots of delish covers) - but i've heard lots about the newborn poop, and if by chance i do have to have a c/s, i want to know i have something there to back me up if DH goes to work and i can't get the nappies washed kwim? i also like the idea of having the extra back up for laying on her change mat and things just cos they're so plastic and cold - don't want my poor bubba to be cold!
both mum and i have checked Big W - not even a spot for them. Target, same deal. had a friend check kmart (it's 40k's from here) and said the same thing. our Kmart locally doesn't seem to cater for newborn stuff much at all. hell, i had to go to pumpkin patch to get a newborn nighty! our local BigW stocks them, but only in 0000 and i wanted 000 cos i want to use them longer term than just hospital - and the just don't have them. so i'm guessing i might have to either go to the ONE local baby shop (which is ummmm 40odd k's from here) and see what they have, or see if any of my family are going to Melbourne in the near future to go into the shops down there...
thought about going back to the IB site and see what was left, but i dunno, i just don't have the fluffy urge at the moment - feel like there is so much else i should be doing and just can't (ali, middle of the night last night i felt like a hospy trip was in order, couldnt'' move at all with my pelvis!) - and it's doing my head in! did the big cook up over the weekend with mum so that puts us a little ahead, but think i spent too much time doing stuff and now i'm in major pain and can't seem to get anything done...

i simply went to spotters...and bought the 'NAPPY FLANNEL' and sewed my own flanny flats!!!! only used them once...now they are good wipe up cloths!!!!:
Maz - the flannel flats are the same size as terry flats aren't they? i have some colored terry ones that i was given - will have to go find them and measure!. would home mades ones come out the same as the ones you get in shops (so lots trimmer than terry flats?) i honestly thought they were only a single layer, not double (i'm so confuzzled!!)
BG the nappy flannel is actually thicker than the normal flannel in spotters.... and flannel nappies are only 1 layer.... i have 30 something flanny flats.... i measured them up the same size as a terry flat. My home made flanny flats came out the same as the flanny flat one in hospital...
flanny flats sh*t me to tears ... i love them BUT they dont take a snappi ... so you have to use pins or none at all .....

DD is 7.4kgs atm and is 8mths .. it says they fit up to 12kgs ... do you have a bub that is older that Gabs that is still in a Med ?? im just having buyers remorse thinking i should have got all larges ...
as i have a large and the tabs cross over on her , but the med the tabs meet in the middle so no snaps are exposed kiwm , ive never really had nappies that ive had to snap out (meaning using the bigger sizing - snaps on the outer towards the end of the wings ... KWIM ???? ) (prolly not as i just read it and i confused meself! )
I got all sewn in ones hoping they will be a better fit ... and all with mini MF boosters as i just LOVE to accessorizze dahlink !!!

Aw Kat! You survived your first day! Bless you, must be so hard, and to come home to find out nanny has washed the nappies... aaaaarrgghhh!!!!! That's just not on. Just ask (without sounding like you're gritting your teeth) what that lovely fragrance is on Jack's fluffies and wether it's softener or something. Might save you having to do a whole strip wash.
Lea - I used a snappi with my flanny flats. There is no way I was letting DP anywhere near a nappy pin. It isn't anywhere near as grabby as with terry, but out of sheer desperation I tried it and it DID work well enough.
BG - whatever way you go with the flanny flats, be prepared for snow at your place on washing day! The amount of fluff they shed is incredible! Oh, and they're roughly 70cm square.

would 2 layers of printed flannel be alright though for a flannel flat if the actuall nappy flannel is thicker??? ive got a lot of a pattern flannel cause it was $2m so would love to make some flat for you BG...hmm could always make them prefold's :) choice is yours babe....im easy.

NaNa - i have no drama throwing flats in the dryer to defluff them so that part is all good - i'm planning to not use the dryer much with the MCN's (i don't use for my clothes, so can't really justify it when nappies are almost as exxy as my stuff lol)

Lea - Em is still a medium and is 12 kg (Yay she finally gained some weight!!) She is a skinny little thing though, her bum is tiny!! But I havent put the goregous NN I bought from Maz on her because I kind of want to save it for Leah. Hey do you pronounce Lea like Leigh or Le-ah?
Kat - Print off some washing instructions for her from one of the sites, and just let her know that if she wants to wash them there are some instructions and you can supply the powder for her. That way if she does it again she has no excuse ;)
I am so glad my mum asked about the washing instructions for the MCN. That and most of our nappies have a lable on them with the instructions. DH even knows how to do a strip wash!!
Hmm would it be worth me sewing up some flanny flats? I have about 25 NB and small nappies and lots of OSFM, and about 40 terry flats. I have tonnes of terry flats thanks to Em having been a chucker. They should be home in about an hour. Man I miss them when I am bored!! I have made a shortcrust pastry today though to do a quiche tonight.
Kane still goes between med and lg ittis and he is 20 months, and 13 kg!! You can check his size on FB... ;)

ok, decision made - i need to do SOMETHING today - so i'm dragging out the nappy stash, sorting it by size and working out what i have - then packing some of it away! then i'm going to unpack all the clothes mum packed away for Gremlin so that it makes sense to ME - sorry, i know she was helping,but she's hung up so much stuff that didn't need hanging, and then put everything away really oddly! bizarro woman! i can't do nothing - even on a day of enforced rest (DH and Mum ordered it after the weekend!)
Ash only fits the larges now at 10kg. The rise he has outgrown with the med itti.

Jack is nearly 7 mths and is in LARGE IB's...can still squeeze into mediums...BUT they are like budgie smugglers on him...Ian Thorpe eat your heart out!!! and i am still paying off my IB layby!!!! which are all large thank gawd!!!
Jack is over 9kgs aswell...and in size 1 pants..(basically for length but also size now)

just wondering how early your little ones fit into small itti's? and bbb/bbh one size? am trying to sort nappies so that i only have the relevant nappies where DH or mum can put their hands on them and the rest packed away for easy turn over!
Harmony was 3.7 kg born, and fit her sm itti at about 6-7 wks??
But then was out by 11weeks :cry:
She wasn't big by any means, just long... :D

Well my mother left this morning so I'm starting to get my house back in order. Putting things back where they BELONG not where she THINKS they should go. :rolleyes:
We had a birthday party to attend on Sunday which she was going to come to with us. She told me in the morning she didn't feel well and would stay home. Well when I got home, the house had been cleaned from top to bottom, washing folded etc. She tricked me.
There has been so much going on in BB MCN land I'm not even going to try to catch up. I've been lurking whenever I could get a spare few minutes so I think I'm up with everything.
IB LE's - I logged on intending to buy, put some in my cart... then changed my mind. I bought some seconds instead.

DS is 20 months and 11.5kgs. He wears Large IB's on the tightest snap setting without crossing the wings.
BG - not sure about Smalls - DS only went straight into larges as we are converts not dedicated mcners from the start.
I've confused myself with people on fb now, so I'm off to try to find the BB members I have on there and note their usernames lol
Oh does anyone use "Earth Choice Laundry Liquid"? Needed to buy more washing powder today and came across this one. Not sure if it's any good but bought it to try anyway. Huge big bottle of it for $14.
okies - 3.7kg sounds pretty average, so i guess i can put them in the drawer as a "keep checking" kinda thing - but not on the change station where DH can find them! i don't have a lot of newborn MCN's simply cos i have a feeling this "little girl" is going to be a big little girl! have lots of maz covers though so using flats will be fine to get me through the gap...
I ordered all large ittis...hope they fit.:doh: Jack is only fairly small, no idea what he weighs now (I try and stay away from the MCHN as much as possible, lol) ...probably about 9ish kg. Oh well, they'll fit eventually..I've ordered everything I have in large and done ok so far.:D

CM - Earths choice has an optical brightener in it so it may fade your nappies and weaken the PUL. I have used it in the past but now we use Eco Store.
BG - I am being sneaky and packing extra boosters to fill gaps in slightly too big nappies. Will have to make sure I put them in such a way as to avoid leg gape though.
Missy Mel, Maz, Kat - I am doing what I can to have a bigger baby!!! I dont like super skinny babies, Em just does not have enough rolls on her and never has had that many. At least she has some fat on her bum but not a lot.
DH knocked off early so popped home to put the washing and dishes in their respective machines and has gone to get the girls from daycare. When they get home I will get to work on the quiche!!
I think you'll be fine Marlene, Kane was a chubber and was fine in large, and since getting so mobile and slimming down, he can go from med to lge no worries!! :D
BG, plus you dont want too much newborn poop on your "good" nappies...:lol:

we use earths choice for our clothes.
Whats eco store - can you use it for a front loader? I find that Im limited for choice, I need to use front loader, and with my machine the instructions say is has to be liquid detergent.
