I was just wondering is there somewhere that has what all the shortened nappy names are?? I'm so not able to keep up without knowing what some are, I feel like a dunce.
DH is home with a bad head cold, so I've got another little one to look after, lol, he's on the couch suppose to be watching Transformers, but is snoring his head off.

I haven't brought new nappies in ages - only cos I got stimulated that I am actually allowed to buy nappies (plus some of ours are falling apart and DH noticed how empty our drawers are now!)

CM - my kiddos go to Premier ELC in Deeragun and they are fine with MCNs I just have to provide sposie wipes and liners for health safety reasons.
Maz - I already use BBH w/ covers but sometimes they are absolutely satched after a good long sleep stint which is why I was asking about NN's. Might try extra extra boosting in them for now and wait til he's a few months older.
My little porker is 5.5 kgs and nearly 60cm long already - no wonder we've moved beyond alot of my newborn/small stash

Wish DD was a little porker.
Anyone else find that their butts and crotches look absolutely gigantic in boosted nappies, especially with fleece/wool cover? Can barely do pops up on some of the onesies, they just don't make clothes to accommodate cloth anymore. DH laughs everytime I change her for the night at how enormous her nappy is with these little legs sticking out - he reckons she'll get a bad back sleeping on "the mound". I might agree if I didn't sleep her on her side her butt would be higher than her head!

Anna - try putting the booster on the outside of the BBHs, between the nappy and cover. Less stuff in the nappy, less leg gape. At least, that's what someone here suggested, and it worked for us for a bit.
CM - hun, most of the time I'm just channelling Gigi, Nelle, FJ, Arimeh or one of the other wise women of MCN in here that taught me everything I know! Congrats on the wedding dress, that must be soooo exciting!

CM - I am with Nana - Everything I know I learned in this thread, or figured out the hard way. I was very lucky though that I got to meet Gigi in real life and see some of her stash, and I still have some of the nappies that didn't suit Bilby in my rotation. As the kids TT and move on to the next stage there are new 'old hats' at MCNing, some of the girls that were in here all the time when I joined the thread rarely if ever post anymore.

Even happening with my widdlewuns now - so have asked Christie to do up some more boosters for me, which she doesn't mind doing.
Have sold all my itti shells now for $5 each - bargain - but they were the worst offender so no point me getting me if they are just going to be falling apart again. I'm going to have to start washing every night instead of every second night I think (even when I wash every second night, I still put the wee ones in the shower on the nights I don't wash so they get a full rinse out - doesn't seem to be making a difference)
Maybe my wash is too soft for them so it doesn't clear all the pee out? Dunno. I do a pre-rinse and then a full wash, and then a second rinse, so you would think it would be enough hey.

Brissie's water is very hard so may be worth just doing some tests yourself, IYKWIM?
To give an example, when I was in Uni, we were comparing water hardness. As we were in Brissie, we calibrated our tests for brissie water. Got a sample of Sydney water, and Melbourne water - had to dilute the reactants by 1/2 for sydney water, and by 1/50th for melbourne water.
So ... maybe just try some bicarb, see if that does anything?

Willow- All day that's going to be tough for you! As Ali mentioned I am helping out at the CT stand but only for 2 hours 10-12. I'm going back sunday with some friends so I can look around!
Em is in her MnM at the mo and TBH it doesn't fit very well. She has a bit of a plumber's crack.Its very pretty tho.

kaz - we're not on brissie water - we have our own water supply up here (that incidentally, brissie want to start using because we have so much of it!)
So brisbane water comes from a completely different source, and I would think it was harder water because of the fact that they are always running out of water, surely all the minerals and crap in the water would be stronger than they are up in our water, cos our dams are always at around 80% capacity.
Meh - I dunno whats going on. Its never the shells anyway - just the boosters.

Ali - I shall PM you soon when I get some spare time to see if you're available for snappy service. The second I got has only one working snap on the front. Still does up, just only one snap so the wing kind of droops off the front.

Be super gentle on your snaps Mel, they will rip out if they get pulled to hard (DH and Sarah are the biggest culprits for it here). Is it where the snaps are that keeps going, or further down on the boosters? Do you guys get bats? they could be getting some bat poop on the line? No other suggestions I am afraid.

its not me pulling too hard on the snaps Ali.
Its the boosters themselves, not where the snaps are. If it does go where the snaps are, its because its shredded around the whole of the snap and then the snap falls out.
And mine are hung out the front on the clothes horse - no bats. We only get bats at night - out the back in the fruit trees.

I havent had any smell issues yet... although i did start doing a warm wash every now and then. been adding some bi carb also...
Ok so i am now using my GK under clothes...i had a minky times on her today under a dress and she couldnt get to it so i may get away with putting a skirt/dress over them... LOL... She hasnt yet undone any snaps so might have to look at more of those types... although the WW and the lou lou are velcro and she never takes them off...

Mel - the water is had because of the additives, the fluorine added for teeth etc.

Kaz - but we've only just started to put in the fluoride? And if that was the case - how come its not happening in other states that have fluoridated water?

Kaz - for quite some time we used Bore water and have not had any nappy problems, so it may be something completely different to the water causing Mel's issues.
What detergent do you use Mel? Do you use air fresheners near where you dry the nappies? How often do you strip wash? Maybe if you figure out what causes the bamboo to eat away you could market it to people who have it as a weed. Oh another thought, do you use different detergent for the nappies to the clothes? Some detergents leave a residue in the machine. DH's work clothes wouldnd have anything nasty on them being in an office would they? Hmm maybe google for things that kill bamboo. Now you really have me started on this riddle I think I am going to keep trying to figure it out, I cant resist a riddle
