Hi girls, just a quick reply as I don't have much time to post.
Teruteru - I'm also a fan of the sewn-in itti's. I have both, equal amounts of each, but I definitely use the sewn-ins more often. 1) I find them faster to get on DS as I'm not trying to make sure the trifold is straight and folded properly 2) DF finds them easier and changes nappies more often if they're easier to use and 3) They seem to last longer absorbency wise but I don't know if that's just my DS or what.
Oh and less mucking around at laundry time pulling them apart and putting them back together.
hey everyone. quick question
how long can you leave them dry paled before you wash them
as we are only converting slowly we dont go through a load of nappies a day and hubby doesnt like em washing them with clothes towels etc as DD has very strong smelling wee.
Kawazuki - yup 2 days is fine. You could always chuck them in, do a pre-wash, then throw in clothes and stuff like that on top of them too - save water and all that. Most of the yucky stuff would be gone with the first pre-wash.
Sewn in ittis vs snap ins - hmmm.. I liked both - got more leg gape with the snap ins though. But since they were shredding on me, liked the fact that I brought more snap in ones, cos at least I could replace the boosters - can't with sewn ins so I have a few nappies here that are basically rendered useless now.
What else was mentioned? Can't remember. Better go check on Miss M.
Oh yeah - if anyone hasn't seen my FB status - she crawled today!!! only 2 "steps" but its better than nothing!!! WOOHOOO!!!
hmmmmm i picked Jack up on the way home from work and MIL tells me she 'accidently' flushed one of Jack NEW baby legs down the sewer!!!! (her words NOT mine!!!!) i would have said flushed it down the toilet am cranky!!!! hope her toilet gets blocked now!!!! she should be more careful!!!! and i have been meaning to ask her...why the heck she is using liners in his nappies?? i haven't been giving her any???
OMG!!! Mel - she crawled...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo
Shell - i might have to take you up on the offer yet babe.....gotta check out IRL fluff's
Kat - WHAT!!! is she using the babylegs as liners OMG is she for real!!!!! NO please say it isnt so!!!! and yes...2 more weeks....god im getting all anties
Kaw - i sometimes dont wash for 3 days ... and im with your DH , I couldnt stomach putting nappies in the wash with anything else and then I would be worried about the washing powder touching my nappies (I dont use it...im a bicarb user now thanks to the lovely Christy )
Maz, happy to oblige. I live not far from Advancetown. would love to meet you. We could even sneak you off morning tea/arvo drinks with some of the other girls here if you wanted.
whats this advance town your talking about ??? Maz are you coming to QLD ??? did i miss something... wouldnt want to miss a nappy meet !!!
YAY on the crawling MEL !! well done Miss M ... Gabs is a bit behind in the "normal" so i am soo proud when she does something age appropirate !!
ummm all this rain has left my stash very wet today ive been usuing TT and sposies .. im nearly outta sposies (only 2 left .. ) so i may have to break out the dodgy nappies ..
oh im a fan of sewn ins ... because currently i have a snap in and cant find the top booster !!
Sooo i know of this SHop in Kingston and went in during my first week and was WAY overwhelmed....bbbuuutttt i live 5mins away so a bit of retail therapy and coffee back at mine certainly wouldn't go a stray ........
hmm Ittis, i only have the one snap in and love it but do get the occasional leg gape (depending on if DS is having a fat or skinny day...what is with that?) may have to purchase a sewn in just to see
Well i did our annual budget and it looks like im job hunting really didn't want to for the first 12months of DS life but we are currently running in the negative so no more MCN's for me till tax time and need to find work for 2 days a week.....hmm wonder if beck will hire me heehee jokes she always has heaps of help in there
So back to nappies, i am running out. I relly don't want to use the dryer as most of mine have PUL on them and its been POURING here for three days and there is NO sun and well just grrrr they are all wet lets hope we get at least some morning sun tomorrow or at least no rain so they can get outside in the breeze cuz atm they are on the clothes horse in front of the fan

SammiH, which state are you in? which city/town if you don't mind me asking? (JIC i can work out some IRL mcn shops for you).
Smoz - i never line dried our mcn, just dried them on clothes airer, with fan going, and tumble dried the inserts for a few minutes, just to fluff them up, get the last bit of damp out. PUL/fleece shells, covers, pockets didn't even need the drier.
if drying time is an issue, pockets and ai2's are the best thing out. and buy fitteds/inserts that are no more than TWO layers thick of absorbent material, in any component.
charmlea - how badly did the flooding affect you? are you ok?
Advancetown? is there really a town/suburb called this? i thought it was a wind up by Maz at first! Sounded so futuristic movie-like!
wotbb: ye olde blueberry as usual.
Done any wheelies yet, Alioops? LOL, thinking of you and your beautiful Bump.
Maz, are you sitting down without pain now hon?
Sorry to hear about Mat's legs.
Teru - Raven once explained Ittis to me as "narrow crotch, like Swaddlebees sized pockets, but fuller in the bottom section than Swaddlebees sized pockets." Sammi explained it well.
I know someone who received their Fluffy Bubs from this week's stocking ALREADY! talk about speedy postage!
My "convert" has bought cloth wipes and is about to order her Little Squirt, now i know she's really going to do it. it's like waiting for xmas (for me and her LOL). even her mum is getting excited now.
Gigi , we are in Ipswich , and the flooding has gone down alot now , but if it was one more day of heavy rain , there would be no way in our out , as we live next to the river and i was very high! my patio and laundry copped it !!
when they dont wet a nappy , do you still re use it or wash it ?? DS woke up dry thismorning, (yay) and i'll prolly use it again (the KK) tonight , is that bad ? DH thinks its grose ..but i figure its uneccessary washing wdyt ??
Bek @ thcns - Donna from bits for bots is often there and she is lovely too !!! im thinking Vicki from bubble bubs helps out too , they used to have stores opposite each other ( Vicki does not have a store , just a room whith ALOT of overlockers in them and the mums all sewing away at the nappies
i bought a clothes arier the other day (tues) and did a load of nappies and with this damp weather they are finally dry ! but i have the biggest back log of washing so i will prolly use TT and a sposie mix until the sun comes out completly .... the stupid cat weed all over the stuff in the laundry so thats the most important to get the stank out of all the washing , before i do my precious stash !!!
We got fluffy mail! Thanks Gigi! And I love the little bilby you put in DH opened the pack, his first opening of "fluffy mail" ever. And he was excited
Little man's got swelling in between his scrotum and anus, the little line is all swollen up and almost looks like girl bits so no sleep for us last night, DH ended up going down to a 24-hr shop to get sposies Pip's also got red welts on the inside thigh area, I strongly suspect its due to the plastic pants @ CC, will take my own covers today for him. He only settled down while he was waiting for DH to come back with sposies, smothered in Moogoo and no nappy. That was at 4am
But any ideas about the swollen bit?
Gigi - I am in Canberra - pretty quite like that here LOL
Any ideas on how much bicarb for a wash?
I have IB snapins - they are a bit bulky through the crotch, but narrow, the trifold does take a long time to dry but I bought a few extras. I thought beign AI2 they would be easier than the sewn in - but I might have to buy ONE more to try the sewn in
Advancetown is a real place, it is out the back of Nerang. Hinze dam is at Advancetown (on one side, Gilston is on the other)
Lea, I think Maz is staying at Advancetown for her family hols in september. I think Jed may have put his foot down and said no nappy meets, but I recon we might have to try steal her for a quick catch up WDYT?
Lil man has been really windy and miserable and not drinking as much as he usually does (about 1/2 the amount but I am feeding him a little more frequently cause I dont want him to dehydrate) How long do you let this go on before you take them to the docs?
He is doing # 1s and 2s fine and is sleeping lots. 6 wk growth spurt maybe?
WOLB Possum Pouches Cee Jay fitted, no cover. My workhorse
Maz hun NO she isn't using the babylegs as liners :P...he stuck his heel/foot in his shiatty nappy...all over the baby legs...soo she was getting rid of the poo down the toilet and also had the crappy babylegs in hand aswell...and dropped one of the baby legs down the sewer/toilet...and flushed it!!!!! NOT happy as it was one of the ones i REALLY liked!!!!
WOJB ~ last nights dinner by the smell of it!!! Yellow IB soon to be Black IB
