TK, I think it will take a couple of days to dry each load indoors under a fan. So you should be ok. And honestly I used the dryer for my prewashes to get any shrinkage done JIC the manufacturer hadn't done enough shrinkage washes. So your prewashing should only take about a week, 2 max.

Sami - YAY for the sun!!! I am looking forward to being the one to hang the nappies on the line!! A few minutes quiet, ahhh.

to little squirt the nappies, no matter what nappy style i am little squirting, i totally disassemble the nappy and cover, rest them on the upturned nappy bucket lid, THEN little squirt each item, oNE AT A TIME. makes it so much easier.

many nappies SOLD as aio's are actually AI2 when you see them in real life.

i would suggest the Cute Tooshies a12 to you, there are some minky outer seconds on the site, you have the choice of (turned and topstitched style) or overlocked and lettuce edge style - better for the younger bubs still doing explosive poo.

now you asked about trainers

i find the imse vimse trainers.
whilst tt-ing was going on, they were HOME trainers for us.
now she is trained, we use them anywhere

i'm assuming training is still in progress for you guys?
things that helped us at that stage:
- potty in boot of car (with bag of useful potty stuff)
- potette for beach, park (places without loos, or too far away to get to in time)
- piddle mat for child car seat
- PUL outer trainers for going out e.g starbunz (trim), simple simon (small make, bilby was in the large!!), bumwear pocket, happy heiny pocket, bummi, motherease, blueberry (hidden PUL outer) but you can't stuff it
- trainers for at home (to contain poop, and have wee accidents without puddles (imse vimse, noonee wilga one wets, bongo baby)

my priority was narrow crotched, natural inner trainers for a 11.6kg child.
i have listed types we didn't actually use, but fit your criteria of being waterproof for outings (i think that was what you were after).

i had the materials to sew windpro soakers with absorbency snapped in, but was unable to sew them, for the time we needed them. the gf nappy knickers didn't fit bilby right, but i loved the concept.

i have also found to put my child in woollen longies OVER the trainers, works really well - i would suggest that as something for car trips too (when we WOULD have done that, it was hotter weather).

i'm not sure which child (weight range) you are wanting this for. have you tried the LARGE size in blueberry trainers? The daddledoo trainers are a pocket and run larger. (bilby drowned in their size1, despite being in the weight range). they have a hidden pul layer too. come with nice thirsty trifold.

Weird...I've noticed the same thing on ours - when it's done up it looks uneven at the front or something?? That's why I thought it may just be an odd fit for us.

Thinking of buying just a few more nappies for baby boo - you guys said Swaddlebees were good yeah?? Might go check them out.

Willow - Swaddlebees are very narrow in the crotch. They dont suit my kids at all, yet they are perfect for Bilby. I would buy 1 or 2 to see if they suit but if bubs is a wide crotch bub then they wont suit.

Ali - Was just looking at them and remembered why I hadn't ordered any yet...would prefer to wait and see how big bub is because I'd prefer snaps over hook & loop but side snaps didn't suit DS because he had chunky-ish thighs. If this bub is a boy, am assuming he'll be a similar size/build.

Might just wait until bub is born. Have the money sitting there so no harm in putting it off for a while.

i went the the green fest expo in the gardens in bris coz they had a few nappy stalls , but at the last minute ANN must have pulled out as the stall they were meant to be was taken by some coz " some one pulled out " thats what they said anyway ....

CT were there but there were no specials on so i didnt get any ,and i think gabbi is still too short in the rise for them ,and they are a bit wide as well .... mybe when shes walking ...

id love to get some SB atm , but i have no $$$

Willow - I find Wide crotch Side snappers like Blueberry are fine, but the narrow crotch doesnt do them any favours. I have a snap one and an Aplix one and both were as bad as each other on them so it was more the crotch than anything.

Sarah is still in the bad books. She was messing around keeping Em awake, so for Em to get some rest Sarah has to have her rest on her fold out couch in the family room. She has stripped and is doing everything she can to avoid having a sleep and she still really needs it.

Hi Everybody

Haven't posted in here for a while but I just wanted to share my news - I just got my first fluff!!! We have a store on the other side of the city (1.5 hr drive away) that mum, DD and I went to today to try out all the nappies and covers and everything. We had a ball and even got to see the shop assistants bubs get changed and what a MCN look like putting on!

So in the end, cause I can't decide what I want, we got 4 'real nappies' covers - small, 3 babybeehind hemp nappies AIO / OSFM, 2 parents and pumpinks PUL nappies and one parents and pumpkins night nappie. I have been given a stack of prefold nappies that I'll be using with the covers but I think I might now need to get some boosters.

From experienced MCN'ers how does that sound for a start? I'm going to be half disposable and half cloth to begin with so DH learns and then we'll be getting more as we become better using them. Is there anything else I need to get? I'm getting a nappy bucket tomorrow and I have to get a used nappy bag yet, but anything else?

I guess i like the flush inners like with pockets.

DD and DS are having solid poos now so not a huge issue with runny poo but like with BBH - having to un snap and squirt so many sides.

Perhaps i should go back to pockets then..

Hey Ryatha - I am guessing you went to the Brighton store? They have one on Goodwood road and 1 in Mt Barker too!! We started off part time but the girls were not NB so we could get away with a few less. I think to start with we had 1 nappy and got a new one every week, because the more often they got used the less disposables I bought. DH also worked near the Brighton shop so I could go in when I was picking DH up in the afternoon. I also did a bit of the buy for baby second hand buying and then once I found a brand I loved I bought a bulk pack, and they are the majority of my stash. I have about 50-60 OSFM/Large nappies and 25-30 NB and small, and I have 2.5 children using nappies from next Monday. I wash every day or every second day (depending on how long they are taking to dry) but most of my stash has been gradual buys.

Prefolds and covers are perfect for each other and for newborns. They can be used as boosters when bubs is too big for the size they are.

Anna - She goes to the Strand Night Markets. Had some slushies, fleecies and patterned minky naps there. She said she is going to start a stall at willows or flinders street but not for a few weeks yet.
