Man it is good to have been able to hang the nappies myself (well DH did a fair few too, but I did some at least!!) So my washing line is chockers and there is another load of washing in the machine!! Yikes, how do we fill the line with 1 day of clothing and nappies? I cant let the washing lapse ever again!!
Alright, what is the best fold for a NB with Terry flats? Or should I just avoid terry flats altogether?
flannel flats are big on e bulk wise ali - terry would be huge!
Mazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!woo hoo!!
:hide: still in a bit of shock and need to get it correctly diagnosed please dont say anything on FB.....I dont want my family to find out just yet and its only early days
Look's like I'll be keeping my stash now
BG - what size nappy/cover is Miss e in these days hon ;)
Wow thats a shock maz! congrats. Hoping i join u soon:D
Maz - E is still in newborns - still on at least the second snap from the end - half the time shes on the third one - she's still a skinny little runt!
big congrats maz!! NB fluff!!
eta:
tk- i found 2-layered muslin flats are only good for a light wetter or real short time but r real quick to dry & not bulky.
yes BG got it today :) that fabric is gorgeous hon..cant wait to have a play
I'll make a heap of funky flannel flats now and some prefolds again
Did anyone get a sugarshots today? I had some rellies turn up which threw a spanner in my hyena-ing works. I entered a lottery though so hoping I win :D
I was madly refreshing Sammi - but alas - scored zero.
i haven't tried to get anything at a stocking in ages - having withdrawals...
Maz - it IS divine material isn't it? we had the bonnet on E last night - looked so sweet!
Ezy have you tried a large minky magicall? They are awesome, the rise is so much better and I can see these lasting a long while!
TK maybe you could give her lots of baby clothes to wash? Even if they have already been done and just do the nappies yourself. Or ask her to just wash in cold, since they haven't been used and are just prewashes it doesn't have to be hot. She could just be under instruction to do say 5 washes with them on cold and line dry?
No real nappy news here. Still got the runs which isn't making nappy changing fun. Have stopped almost all solids until it stops so lots of booby today.
WOHB: cow bling
Maz I bet it is a huge shock but a bit of a special miracle I think!!! :)
Not really any nappy news but I got an unwanted visitor today...AF!!! I guess it had to come back sometime but I have enjoyed not having it since Nov 2007!!!!
Not yet mel, thought I'd grab the ittis seconds while they were cheap. Will prb get some magicalls too!!! Enabler!!
is anyone a fan of Lotus nappies?
Ezy - seems you and I had a bit of a coinidence this week. I've had AF 3 times since November 2006 and it suddenly returned this morning!!
Just. Popping in , I'm on the iPhone I have tonsilitis :( but wanted to say congrats to maz!!
Also af has returned for me aswell, are you girls into cloth?? You gotta try them ESP the twinkle lilypads , just perfect no leaks and soooo pretty , I ordered a lunette should get I next week , but now have to wait till next month to try it DD hates my pls milk , so fussy until the 3rd day of af ( well going by last month which is when I got it back)
I seem to have lost a handful of itttis and some cloth pads , where the heck are they???
hmmm cloth pads....nope not tried them...am curious though...although i am starting back on the pill as soon as AF rears her ugly head...soo should ease things up abit for me..
nappies....well i definatly want to buy some more ecobubs...i am in love and can't seem to get this one i have here dry quick enough!!!!
on the topic of cloth pads...who wants to be guinea pigs for me?!
I ordered some from fluffy lime (The twinkle lily ones), hoping they come soon (yet AF can hold off!) i have some others too but i like the idea of the two snaps.....
teru - would love to put my hand up but alas I don't know when i could give them a trial!and lotus nappies - I have two lotus nights LOVE THEM
fluff - hello!! yep ecos rock. I love them to bits, so quick to dry too!
WOHB - maz nn/loveybums wool cover
im in the same boat kitten. i want to make them to use but AF is happily at bay and can stay there :D
besides i want to sew so i stay off the comp & nappy buying
I am very interested in cloth mama pads. I react to synthetic ones and bought the cottons brand but I seem to not be coping with those either!!! Is there a cloth mama thread? What do ppl recommend..so twinkle lily?
Also I know this has been asked before but what washing liquid/powder to ppl use? I was using Purity but my coles has stopped selling it and they don't seem to sell any other sensitive ones!!!!! They took am-o-lin off the shelves months ago. I want something good for mine and ems skin and the nappies.
ezy- not sure abt BB but theres a thread for mama pads on NC. powder-wise Ecostore (Safeway or online)
eta
kitten- snap!
im on a lappy most times, but once i get stuck into the sewing, im happy doing it until i get frustrated with the machine doing weird things which by then i want to kill it!!
my machine sits in front of the telly on a coffee table, but i have to move it every time im done.
with that said...fabric buying is just as bad as nappies
there is a cloth pad thread on here .. its under the period and contraceptives heading ...
I love love love my twinkle liky , i also have some platinum panties ... and they are great too but only the regular ones so they are great for the lighter days , my very 1st set of cloth pads were outrageous ones , they have a PUL base and the pads snap on to it , and you just chage the pad .
but i would have preferred it if the pad and base were attached as it bunched up a bit , so they are my back up stash .. i soo want some more , but i want to try different ones , but its sooo hard to resist twinkle lily !!
im a huge fan of the surfboard at night time and TL arent super thick (actually really thin! - but absorbent!!) and they (biggsies) are really really long so its good to know no matter how i sleep , i wont have to worry about leaks . and cloth on cloth doenst move around so they stay put !!
also the yummy velour is just devine against the skin !!!
i also have 2 chickadee pads , i got them off ebay and they are good too .. i would reccomend these as a starter pad , they are good quality but just flannelette and a lining of PUL .... they are cute and do the job :)
enabling anyone yet ?????? def check the website cloth pad reviews - its run by the lady who make obsididan star pads ( and so is the cloth pad shop ! )
etsy and handmade has a load of whams who do them too .... theres pocket , aio and a12 ... bit like nappies really
must talk about nappies now .... well i want more ittis and i want more GF ... i just have no money as DS broke my camera , it was awesome and took ripper pics of the kids .. but i coulndt live with out a camera so i had to buy a cheapie untill tax $$ came in ( getting an SLR ... woot !!) so thats where my money went !! but i did score a bargian ... targert has a 8.1 megapixel samsung , point and shoot camera for $80(it was last one and gave me a deal) and i got 4 gig card for $19 , the camera is cool for minimal outlay ... DH was happy as i didnt touch the ge card  .. i do miss my other baby , i mean camera though ...
WOGB- pink itti
lea - i noticed that TL do a trial pack too, one of each size, might grab one.
teru - LOL! yes i know it sounds easy - but our lappy is a "desktop replacement" laptop - she is huge - and she is connected to the TV, audio system, external harddrives etc... so moving her is a bit tricky!
great nappy drying weather here, i think the night nappies might just be dry after 2 days and not need 3
maz - thinking of you babe, you really are blessed
wohb - she is still asleep so tis still the maz nn
Maz - OMG wow I am so happy for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a wonderful surprize. All the best hun, hope all goes well.
As for the woolies those purple ones with the shirt are so cute - thanks Maz but I only need them for nights and just couldn't justify taking them off the market when she wouldn't get to show them off to thier full potential :-( And by the time I finished agonising over them or the normal ones the normal ones were sold out so we are still on the hunt for some big longies for 16kg+ I have found a few places with them instock but wondering are all longies created equal? The ones we got from sustainable hemp products are great but if I could find some for under $50 it would be easier to *mask* the purchase from Dh
Teruteru - love my mama pads and always willing to be a guinea pig if you need a tester :D I have a cup as well which is fantastic! and use mainly the twinklelily, some from SHP and some from obsidian and a couple from clothique. Love the natural fibre toppers from twinklelily and silk on SHP!
I tried out my new GF last night and LOOOOOVVVVVEEEEE is in the house! It is a brilliant night nappy, did DD1 for 11 hours, wahoot. Not sure how long the small will fit her though.
Anniversary turned out to be a bit of a disaster. After cooking and cleaning most of the afternoon, I asked DH to stir the cake and put it in the microwave (literally 20 seconds work) and he said I should do it so that it is done properly. This was while I was trying to soothe a screaming baby. :wall:
WOXB BG
Oh I hear that loud and clear hon. I love fabric and get the biggest high finding the right stuf.
Cloth pads...ive been buying them from bohemian rainbow (on wahmnaps) great price, and nice combos. I prefer ones with velour on top ahhhhh and I still have a few i made myself. OH and some from sunshine and lollipops that are nice and big for night times.
Totally understand about the woolies Sarah. Im sure Mel had some that were $35...gosh I cant remember the name.
Thanks for everyones well wishes......im not getting exctied yet...will take what happens when it happenes. Will have to go to the doctors next week sometime adn see what's happening  I think my body is playing silly buggers big time.
I have a load to nappies to do and hand out..sun is shining so will chase it around the back yard with the clothes horse
WOMB - WC NN, cheetah MAL cover and last nights tea by the smells of him
Teru lotus nappies have a pretty good rep. I've not had one though. I thought I saw that they were purchased by BBH but that was a while ago and it may have been just a rumor.
rofl at visions of you moving the clothes horse around chasing the sun Maz
I haven't posted in here for sooo long!
I haven't really had a lot of nappy news...am absolutely loving my Fluffy Bubs, I think they may even be my fave nappy so far :) Although I also love CT and itti bitti...and my newest ones from Ticklefish Tots...they are awesome too!! Oh, who am I trying to kid...I just love them all.
Well, we have been doing cloth for only 3 months now...and I already need to do a cull  I have a few 2nd hand and freebies that I got in the early days that I'm really not using.
Jack slept 13 hours straight last night...woohoooooo. His first full night sleep in 14 months!!! DH was next tpo me coughing all night though, so I still didn't get much sleep.
:shhh:Congrats on your newest little miracle Maz, I hope everything goes well for you.:D
WOJB...Dude Working Wonders Cushie Tushie
im a sun chaser too !! lol , there is sun in my front yard all day but i dont want to put my laundry out there ... esp when pads are drying on there too  shame !!
dont know what happened with lotus ... dee hasnt mentioned it at all ... maybe its a bit of a sore spot .... but there are new stuffs in the pipeline !!
how is a GF NN composed ??? there is the caterpillar one on there and it can be made into a NN for an extra $4-8 .... BUUUTTTT DD is wearing a GF atm and i boosted it with the thinnnest hemp booster (remember the BBH ones ?? ) and now there is serouis leg gape ... i took it out and put it back on her , done up so the tabs meet and there is still leg gape !!! sooooo now me thinks i have to give it a miss ...... i am getting a custom SS off her but now im not so sure ... im am the worlds biggest fan of rolled leg casings or the "frill" around the legs ... and the GF ( along with sooo many other naps ) are just concealed elastic .. so .. im just confuzzled ... BUT this is just another example of how i really mean it when dd's rise is soooo short :lol:a "normal " fitting nappy on any other bub is fine ... but not mine with the tiny giney ..... hehe ... when its bath time i hold her up under her arms and she looks like a frog ..... slim arms and legs but a HUGE pot belly and can hardly see her crotch ... kinda like holding a frog around the neck.... so cute esp when her legs kick around ... anyone get me ???
Do you want a photo? I looooove it!
yeah that'd be cool !! i have 2 of her day nappies and im not too keen on the boosters, i got them before she got "famous " aaaaagggggges ago , so things may have changed ...
Yay hun!!! Now she can take her leave for 9 months and come back as Lochia. Do you need a NB cuddle to give her the flick? Are you coming tonight? I am bringing Leah and only doing dinner (cant go out on the town properly with a NB ;)) but it will be fun!!
I have a lunette and 5 cloth pads, 1 of my own and 4 happy heiny ones. I should make some more but my sewing machine is driving me nuts.
Leah is outgrowing 00000 now so the time is here to get her back into cloth!! I will have her in cloth tonight and leave the rest of the sposies for DH. There is only a couple of days worth of them left. I have also finally figured out the most comfortable and best position for Leah in the HAB!! She is sleeping on me now.
Unfortunately I can't come tonight Ali - DF is working night shift and Grandma can't look after DS as she's not well. Until after her surgery and recovery that is.
I definitely want AF to leave now Ali and I wouldn't mind her staying away for 9 months either ;) Hopefully she's back in full swing and isn't just rearing her head for a tease then disappearing again without reason.
To be honest I'm a bit afraid of cloth pads. I don't really know why? I guess I just don't like the thought of blood and like to throw the disposable stuff in the bin where I don't have to look at it, clean it etc. How do you all handle mumma pads? What do you do with them after use etc., cleaning and all that.
No nappy news. There's one night nappy on the line. DS has been in undies and accident free for 5 days. Can someone tell me why some mothers must be so competitive? I won't name her, but when I mentioned to someone that DS was TTing really well at 22 months all she could say was "*** was fully trained at 18 months". First of all *** has older siblings who they would have learnt from and secondly I know as a matter of fact that *** was wearing nappies when my DS was born and they were 24 old months at the time. Why why why must some mothers be so godamn competitive.
*sigh*
Vent over.
dont know why either ... i know i did feel a bit of pressure now and then , but they get it in there own time and TT is not like its a talent , its a function so it happens when it happens , some mums are toilet nazis and put thier kid on the potty every 2nd minute .. DS started to TT @19 mths but he is now 32 mths and tt cept for over night ... what ever i say .. hope you dont feel too bad about it for too long ... kids arent trophies ... so no kid is better than the next . sad she cant see that ..
well mama pads ... you do have to deal with the blood .. but you get over it ... im not a grossed out person ,not much can shock me , so it was fine for me ..... i just little squirt the pad until the water runs clear and then leave it in a bucket of water to soak till its time to wash ... TMI coming up ... I am wearing my lunette now and it rocks !! i cant feel it at all .. and so easy to insert and soo much better than tampons which i hardly wore coz of the uncomfortableness ...
i think a mod will ask us to move to the cloth pad discussion soon  if you wanna know more lets talk there :)
Are you able to catch up for a coffee on monday CM? Ali - I'll see you tonight but if you wanna catch up on monday too I'll bring River. We can go to GJs at Domain cause its close to you. The lads are at kindy and my prepack is on (but Ryan will be supervising that).
As for TTing competitiveness - it really p's me off. Its just one of those things some kids take to and some dont. I dont see it as an indicator of them being a genius. My eldest is 3 in Sept and he isnt toilet trained. At this stage I could care less (would be nice to have one less lot of nappies but whatever) but if he's 5 and still in nappies then I might have to get tough  He's the brightest kid I know though so it isnt about not clueing in - he just cant be arsed putting in the effort (HELLO DADDY GENETICS ;) ).
