There is a small optional booster that gets folded into four and snapped under the bit on the outside. There is a fleece-topped booster that snaps on the inside. They're pretty challenging, arent they??
Sami - did you get two A4 type booster things with it? If so, then its the setting for a heavy wetter. One goes under the fleece liner that snaps in the inside of the nappy, the other goes under the other liner type thing that snaps on the outside. I have two of them, I think they are good. Freakin bulky - but good.

Thanks so much Nana and Mel - yes 2 x A4 type boosters - so for a trial I should do both and see how he goes first yeah - best to be safe than sorry - but yeah seems to be bulky - dont think it will fit under a Bonds wondersuit!!
I just have the one extra A4 booster for DS, and the medium size just fits him still, but the waist is on the tightest setting. Another booster and he wouldn't get into pants! He's a heavy heavy wetter but only just manages to soak thru that. Haven't tried it with longies tho, because the longies are red and anything that touches them ends up pink!
Feeling pretty excited here - will be back in MCNs tomorrow - had bad nappy rash (so red it was raw and had to see the dr and got antibotics ). Spent the last 2 weeks in sposies and sudocream.
Big question - how can I minimise nappy rash in the future - (apart from frequent changes which we had been doing)?
I have got MSM moo goo (now) and the black paw paw cream. tried the paw paw cream before seeing the dr and it didn't seem to help - might have started use it too late.

I lined everything with bamboo boosters and started washing in hot water with nothing else. Since then we have been able to go back to whatever inners we want but still no powders because that still makes him come out in a horrible nappy rash
leckert - what kind of MCN are you using for bubs? Just a thought (and it might be a bit horrifying...) but the inner or lining could be a factor in causing the irritation. Some kids react to synthetics, some kids develop a reaction over time, others are fine. Also, what wipes do you use? Cloth or disposable? Do you use a wipes solution with cloth wipes?
I'm no expert, coz DS only gets rashy when he's teething, and then only a little bit. I would consider everything that comes into contact with bubs bot and go for an elimination process. HTH.
I am also a bit excited. SIL is committed to using cloth on her little girl due in 6 weeks. Not for the first few weeks, probably, but thru observing my obsession my parents have decided to get all the other relatives interested to chip in for gift vouchers from MCN stores! ETA - yeah, we posted at the same time Mel. I forgot about laundry detergents as a factor too, since I hardly ever use it for MCN, and do a hot wash every couple of washes.
haha, yeah... creative, positive discipline is my constant challenge. I try so hard not to, since it has no effect, but what else can I do but scream "NOOOOOO!!!" when he's into the shed, playing with lawn mower fuel, upending the garbage bin, climbing on the tv, belting me with a spoon, and repeat.... all before 7am!
We're using a range of GreenKids, Ecobubs, MonkeyDoodles, BumG's and Cute Tushies (? - it's one of the CTs - a bamboo one anyway, fitted I think). Combinations of pockets/fitteds/AIOs
Have been using up the disposable wipes we were given - really didn't like the J&J brand but didn't want them to go to waste We've swapped to the Curash (?sp) brand, fragrance free at home (seem to be good with these) and currently Huggies travel wipes (green label ones - low allergy type or fragrance free I forget exactly) for going out (thought the case would be handy for cloth wipes later). Have bought some cloth wipes (bamboo and some terry types) but haven't used them as wipes yet - they've ended up being wee-catchers at change times as sometimes DS just knows when to wee usually have one of them resting on his penis while changing just in case - saves me a wee shower .
have thought about lining the MCNs but wasn't sure I wanted to go down that path just yet as I wasn't sure what to line with.
Washing - every other wash with a bit (less than 1/2 recommended dose) of baby SA8 detergent (supposed to be good for babies, and non-irritating on their clothes). I forget the detergent 1/2 the time even after pre-rinsing the nappies and when I toss DS's clothes & wraps in with them
hope that all makes sense - DS is attempting to sleep on me as he's been a bit windy and whinges when put his cot to sleep this afternoon so typing one handed

After spending the entire day TRYING to get Jeremy settled for a day sleep I still have some brain cells left.
I had a thought of something I can use to boost my nappies a bit. I realized that I'm not using the long inserts for my BBH bamboo nappies so could I just lay those inside a regular cotton prefold to boost it a bit?
Also, approximately how big does the bub have to be before they properly fit into the BBH nappies? I thought I read somewhere that it was when they reached 4kgs which of course Jeremy was at birth (and I suspect he is 5kgs now) but he has a scrawny bot and chicken legs so even on the smallest snaps he swims in the nappy.
I just can't wait to put him in the bamboo nappies for nighttime but then he poops so much it probably isn't worth it yet anyway and I would be changing him before we got full absorbancy out of them anyway.
So far today Jeremy has only slept from 9am - 10am, 2pm - 2:45pm, and I finally got him re-settled and in bed at 4pm! He has had lots of wind today and poops constantly. I've lost count of how many poops he has done today.
I am on antibiotics for my mastitis that developed Monday morning and I'm wondering if that could be upsetting him at all? It isn't one that generally upsets adult tummies as I don't have to take it with food at all - but I'm wondering if maybe it might still be causing him some trouble?
Anyway, I will sign off and check back later - if Jeremy is still asleep I should think about cooking dinner but I have a bad feeling he is awake.
lilprecious, you could try some baby biotics from the pharmacy (they must be the baby ones -not inner health as baby bacteria is diff from ours) There was a thread around here somewhere about the link between colicy babys and c-section births. They discovered it was the ABs in the mums breastmilk that upset the gut flora in the wee ones.
Lil Man has BioCeuticals Baby Biotic. its about 30 bucks and that lasts me about a month so its not cheap but i dont think you have to give it all the time.

Thanks for that advice! I shall talk to the midwife that runs the mother's group at the hospital as I'm attending tomorrow morning. When I finish there I'm seeing my midwife for my last visit so I can talk to her about it as well. I hadn't thought about the fact that they might have something for babies to improve their gut flora! HUH!! So I learned something new today!
In other news, Jeremy woke at 4:45pm after yet another single sleep cycle, and he had done yet another poo, so I changed him and gave him a quick breastfeed and he is back in bed now. We shall see how long he lasts this time. It would be nice if he would sleep until after I cook and eat dinner and get James in bed.
James has come down with a yucky cold (runny nose, sneezing and a bad cough) and I feel a bit bad that I've had to focus so much of my attention on Jeremy when James is a bit clingy as well.
At the moment my MIL is reading him Thomas the Tank Engine stories while I cook dinner and daddy let him have an extra special treat and he was able to watch one of his Thomas the Tank Engine DVD's which are normally only allowed on the weekends! But I know when he doesn't feel well he usually wants me and he just isn't able to have me all to himself anymore.
Amazingly enough, he is handling it well so far, though I suspect that is because DH is working primarily from home in order to be available to help me, and MIL is here as well. Once she goes and my husband starts working in the office and is on the road more often, things could get interesting.
Okay, better get back to the dinner - James requested one of his favourite meals and thankfully I had it half cooked and in the freezer but considering that Jeremy MIGHT wake in 15 minutes time (going off his trend for the day) I really shouldn't be on the computer yakking away on bellybelly!!
No cloth nappy news (oops sorry mods) except that I will be doing cloth when I go out tomorrow and it will be the first time I've gone out with Jeremy and done full time cloth. I hope it works out well. I still need to pack the nappy bag. I'm going to be out for probably 4-5 hours so I'm just trying to decide how many nappies and spare outfits to pack. I have some good covers with leg gussets (bummis super brites and ONE ME Riki) so perhaps I'm worrying for no reason???
Ashton was in BBH fitteds from birth (5kg). Have you got it on the newborn fold? This is where I went wrong because I was just doing it up on the tightest snaps without turning the front down!
To the bubba with the rash (sorry trying to be super quick) try no detergents at all, ditch the baby wipes, they make Ash rash up BAD, and use face washers that are just wet with warm water.
Bub with rash: sorry if this has been tried. Some bubs react to synthetic so no suedecloth etc. GK have suedecloth inner. Can't remember what else is on ur list
