Thanks for the info Maz! That nappy is feeling alot better. oh and i just noticed also a snap is missing but so glad i don't use the inside ones! Learnt my lesson about lending my fluff out now!

hey sweet pea ! Gabbi is 9.3 but has sorta chubby leggs and is 71cm tall !! such a shortiebut her hips are a tiny 16inches round !! i find it soo hard to fit nappies

Holy cow Lea!!! DD is around 82cm long - but her hips are probably around the same, DS is around 43cm around his hips, and there isn't too much difference between them. I have found that the BEST fitting nappies for them (excluding ittis because of the wing droop) is bundles of buns, dragonfly magik or genesa forge. You can get BoB's and GFs customised with extra snaps (I did for both the large and medium for my two - had to do it with my GF's as well) and dragonfly magik fit perfect as a side snapper.
DD has nearly outgrown her medium BoB now (now that she is nearly 10kg - woohoo! - so if you want me to send it up to you to give it a try on your girl, I don't mind?
oooh that would help heaps Mel !! i often lust over her fabbo embriodery , DFM . ahh yes i have seen them ... they are pretty trim but soooo flippan hard to get ....
do DFM take customs , or just stockings for ppl with fast fingers ??

I everyone, I've been lurking but not posting cause there has been no nappy news. But today I got carded so will be off to the PO tomorrow hopefully to pick up my Maz covers!!!! (they are the only things I've ordered recently so I really hope)
We had major leakage in all the nappies Em was in today. Her CTs aren't fitting right at the moment, niether are the large IBs or the meduim magicalls. ITs a bit of a sh$t really. I have a few swaddle bees and eco bubs but most of my stash is CT and IBs and BBH..grr!
Hey Mel.....can you get custom Bob' at all? Ive never had one...maybe I should indulge lol...are they side snapping????

Maz yep she does customs not sure about side snapping. I really like our BOB it has a beautiful E embroidered on the bum!

I have only had wing drop a couple of times if I dont pull the sides around and above the sides before I snap them. Bub has her medium dilish still snaped with no cap inbetween, she has the pot belly look to. 2 weeks ago when she was sick again I had to cros them over by one snap.
WIng drop does suck when it happens though

They aren't currently side snappers, but she's a good friend of mine and I keep hassling her to branch into that ... for my own benefit of course.. LOL

CRAZY LADY - that totally sucks, how your "friend" looked after the lent mcn. (!!!!)
NaNa - the laws that child care centres follow, any refs to cloth nappies talk about flat terries and pvc pilchers! that's why they don't know about mcn. it's all irrelevant to what we use on our bubs. so part of using mcn at childcare is CONSTANT EDUCATION. Not just your child's primary caregiver, but the many people who will end up changing your child. So you need to keep syaing (like a broken record)
"this is a wetbag - you put the used nappies in it, you zip it up to keep in smells, this stops you needing to use plastic bags for each nappy" because they haven't seen them before.
don't assume ANYTHING
i found workers NODDED at everything i said, whether they understood it or not, they didn't want to appear dumb, but actually, they had no clue.
So take out a flushable liner, put it in their hands, "See it's paper, this is how i lie it in the inside of his nappy. When you take the nappy off, pick up the flushable liner like this, at the top and front of it, and drop that into the loo and flush. Then roll up the nappy and put into the wetbag. zip up the wetbag".

i had workers who seemed to forget every week how to do up the same nappies! so you quickly develop patience and the ability to explain it like you're explaining it for the first time.
Then we moved to a different room (when bibly turned two) and her new worker seemd to "click" immed and i only had to explain mcn to her the once, and she just got it perfectly. but then your worker can be on break, lunch, programming, rostered day off, etc and the other workers need to know what to do.
specifically ask what they use to clean up the bottoms
our first CCC used wet flannels (to my surprise) that they laundered themselves
our 2nd CCC used wet paper towels
i didn't want commerical baby wipes used on bilby, so if they DID use those, i would have supplied the only ones i trust (nature babycare, no propylene glycol).
the good thing about using mcn at CCC is that you KNOW how often your bub has been changed - by seeing how many mcn are in the wetbag.
for example, when bilby was in natural fibre inners (all the time she was at CC), my thing was, she must be changed MINIMUM every two hours, whether nappy is full or not (i knew the worker had no idea how to tell, e.g the weight of the nappy). The one time a relief worker left her in one nappy for four hours, the manager was SO apologetic to me.
they liked having a stock nappy change time for her (every two hours), it took the guess work out of it for them. (earlier if poo was involved of course).

that's what i printed out, to take with me, when i was enrolling bilby.
i didn't need to show it, but the initial "we don't do cloth" quickly backflipped to "of course, we'll do whatever your child is used to at home/is not allergic to" when i mentioned the Children's Services Act. interesting. up til then, it was a flat NO.
many places also use the excuse "we don't have room for nappy buckets", not knowing we have wetbags these days.
you shut down the excuses by getting out your mcn bag and showing them a cute nappy. Look how easy it is! here's the wetbag! here's the flushable liner! Plus my baby gets awful rash in sposies, the chemicals, the bleach. there you go. it's a health issue? Oh right, understand completely.

Ooh, Rhyb - I have the side snapping bumble bee (& caterpillar) and they are fabulous, DH's favourites too.
Heather - I tried to lanolise my one wool cover (I hate wool soo wish I'd just stuck with fleece/minky) once and sucked at it ended up with lanolin plastered to my fingers and the bottom of my sink but not dissolving - don't think water was hot enough? You're supposed to get a pea sized bit of lanolin and dissolve it in a tiny amount of hot water and then fill the rest with cold water and leave it to soak.

ETA - sas -- you have a side snapping caterpillar ??????!!! i thought there was only a front snapper on her site ....
