    Hi All!

Well I've been gone for about 6 weeks now but I'm back!
We FINALLY moved out of my father-in-law's house on 14 November and found an adorable three bedroom house that was in our price range (we are renting)! James and Jeremy are LOVING having their own room and I'm loving the freedom of being in our own place.
In the (near) three weeks we've been in the new house I've actually only spent one whole day at home because my husband moved his office as well and we have been doing that move this week. We SHOULD be finished with the move tomorrow and I think the boys and I actually get to stay home tomorrow to concentrate on the house. This will be good because we are having a belated Thanksgiving dinner with some other American friends of ours on Sunday and I'm not the least bit ready for it!

In other news, Jeremy is FINALLY getting back into cloth nappies after nearly three months in disposables. Tonight is the first cloth that has touched his bum since the 11th of September!! WOW!!

Despite what we originally planned to do, we left a lot of our stuff with my father-in-law since most of what was in the house was ours. We left the lounges, fridge, washing machine and microwave. We lived in the new house for a week and a half without a washing machine and nearly two weeks without the fridge. Now I have a beautiful LG front loading washing machine. I was unsure about a front loader but I LOVE it! My clothes seem to be getting cleaner then they were in the top loader so I'm excited to wash nappies as well.

I am thrilled to be able to take part in this thread again and I've missed you all so much! I am WAY too tired to read nine pages so I'm just going to jump right in and I'll give personal responses to people as I get back into the forum!

One more thing before I sign off...

James night trained in two nights once we moved. In this cool house, the master bedroom has the built-in wardrobe, the spare room (will be our office/study) has nothing, and the boys' bedroom has an ensuite!! So James was in undies nearly straight away when we moved in! So I officially have only ONE child in nappies!!

And in the three months since Jeremy has worn cloth he has grown into his medium nappies. He turned 4 months old on 25th November and he weighs 8 kgs and is 73 cms long! He is HUGE!!!

WOHB: GNST nappy - have never used it before so keen to see how it performs!!

    GIGI:
What brand front loading washing machine do you have?
I have an LG and just washed my first load of nappies in it.
I set it for the full cotton wash, on cold, with the pre-wash and the extra rinse!
    Did I do it right?

aw poop, just wrote a reply and cyberspace ate it!

    LP
no right way hon, just a few different ways to achieve the same goal.

i have a frontloading LG too.
mine actually has a cycle called BABY CYCLE which i used to wash the nappies.
    it's basically
    prewash
    long wash cycle
long rinse cycle (called Medic Rinse on my machine
    all done at 60 degrees

if you don't have a baby cycle, just substitute the other.
if you use cold, observe for smells. if mcn turns smelly, then try to make ONE day a week, your HOTWASH day, when you wash the nappies at 60 degrees.

    CHARMEA
how is Gabbi's bottom? any better?

i'm thinking it's time to put bilby into just knickers for bed, the end of fluff for us (her night time trainers were her last vestige of mcn). A sad day.

    GIGI:

    Thanks!
Your LG is a bit different from mine! I don't have the baby cycle but sounds like when I do the cotton wash (longest wash) with a pre-wash and the extra rinse it is probably about the same.
I will watch for smelly nappies and do a hot wash periodically to keep it in check.
I'm just trying to figure out the right amount of detergent to use.
I'm using the ecostore powder and might be using too much but I'm not quite sure.

Anyone else use ecostore powder with a front loader? If so, how much do you use?

WOHB: a sposie - we went to our playgroup Christmas party and we left the house in a rush so I just grabbed the small nappy bag packed with sposies from before I got organized with cloth again - he fell asleep in the car on the way home and actually transferred into bed REALLY well - just have to remember to change him when he wakes up!!

    Hi All,

Quick post while the boys are busy in the playroom!

    Thoughts on Pea Pods???

I am using size medium on Jeremy (he is 8 kilos and about 73 cms long) and I'm getting leaks around the legs after about 90 minutes? Are mediums still too big for him? Am I leaving the nappy on too long? Or should I look at some other kind of AIO? I don't like the idea of having to change a nappy hourly so I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong?? James leaked in Pea Pods as well but I chalked it up to the fact that mediums were too small for him when I was putting them on him!

Any and all thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

lilprecious - I dare say it's the pea pods themselves hun. They aren't very absorbent and the leg gussets aren't very tight.

Jwithj - google ishfly, if you can't find it PM me for the link

Well done Kitt3n on nabbing some sugarshots....I got the email and meant to go to the site to check it out but got sidetracked. I'm disappointed cos mediums would have been ideal for DS and i really want to try them. Oh well, next time.

I finally decided what I wanted for my custom widdlewuns so I am waiting to get them in the mail after they're complete. Very exciting.

Do you guys find that MCNs sort of cut into bubs in the tummy area? Not cut in I guess, but when they're sitting, they sort of bulge their little tums out a bit? DS is just starting to sit and I've only just noticed it. They're not too tight, if they were looser we'd get leaks but I wondered if that was normal? It doesn't seem to be bothering him so I'll run with it I guess.

we had heaps of fit issues with front snappers, wide crotch styles,
that was solved by getting side snappers, narrow crotch style.

Not sure what is going on with Jeremy and AIO's

I put Magicalls on him today when we were out and they held his poo just fine but we had major wee leaks twice!

    Any ideas???

Should I give up on AIO's????

It is REALLY quiet in here - where did everyone go???

I have decided to sell all my AIO's and pockets and just stick with fitteds and covers since I'm having so much trouble with leaks and such.
