I would never - under any circumstances - put microfibre directly against a baby, any part of them!

However - don't get this confused with microfleece

Hi Camme thanks for replying to me, I have so much to learn I was hoping that I had it wrong and the stuff I have is microfleece but no it's microfiber... I have some boosters which are microfiber, they are meant to be put into a pocket nappy but they are the same fabric as the eenee nappies which are also microfibre and by the sounds of their website they say you can put it directly onto the skin. I intended to fold them up in a rectangle like suggested (and use the boosters in the same way) and then put a liner on top, than put into a BBH's cover (not an eenee one), but the liner wouldn't cover the whole microfiber that might touch bubs skin. Is is really that drying? Has anyone used those eenee nappies, not necessarily the whole system but those microfiber nappies? I'm totally annoyed that I have so many of them and may not be able to use them as planned

I just read up on them Cherished and I can't believe they are selling them like flats! I would never do it - simply because when I was stuffing pockets with the stuff it dried out my hands so much I got cracks in my skin of all my fingers, and I don't have pockets with it anymore because of that reason. Most of my stash was pockets, so I had to stuff a lot of it, and even now, many months later, my hands are still incredibly dry and if I miss a day of moisturising them, they are shocking!!

I mean, they would still be good for stuffing pockets but yeah, I'd never use them like a flat. Maybe I have sensitive skin or something, but jeez... I dunno..

Cherished there is absolutely NO way I would put it on bubs skin. That really is a terrible recommendation by the company!

Have you played around with microfibre much? It dries out the skin on your fingers like crazy!

Has anyone used those eenee nappies, not necessarily the whole system but those microfiber nappies? I'm totally annoyed that I have so many of them and may not be able to use them as planned

OOOO, I think that's what my friend gave me. Are they the flats you are talking about? She didn't like them as her little boy had a reaction to them and was moving so couldn't transport them. They make great cleaning cloths for glass/mirrors

I know microfibre is drying but i only pat down DD with it after her bath and she doesn't even get completely dry I do it that fast

I talked to two of my friends last night who are pretty well known nappy makers here in Aus, and they can't believe it either that they are selling them like flats!!! Its crazy!

I bought a bunch of osfm and they have microfibre inserts, plus i bought an extra 30 boosters just in case. I had some fitted nappies that were only 2 layers of flannel so I ripped them open and sewed in 2 layers of microfibre.. its not going to touch babies skin though because it is in the middle.
Im never buying or using microfibre again though because when I cut it it was like a big ****** like snow in the house! And like Camme said, my hands were so dry after playing around for it after only an hour. Hate to see what they are like after stuffing the pockets every day.

"Sigh" Then bang my head! There must be a way to salvage the microfibre stuff I've already bought I've got very dry hands as it is and I get dermatitis on them, I wear gloves for all cleaning and even when I wash my hair some times along with preparing food.... so playing with microfiber will be a disaster for me and bubs by the sounds of it.

poopie I like you idea so covering them some how... Maybe I will get some fabric and cover the boosters I have for the pocket nappies, gosh I must have like 30 of them and I can also just fold the eenee flats into rectangles and put a cover on them so they are more like boosters... It sounds like a mission though as I dont' own a sewing machine but I guess if I buy one now I will use it more down the track. I have noticed that the microfibre kind of 'sticks' to other fabric though, so what do you recommed to cover it with that will not only allow the microfibre to glid nicely under it but also be nice against bubs bottom

Cherished - If I were you I would actually be sending the company an email just to say that you feel that you have been mislead by their product, as you have now heard that microfibre against skin is a big no - no. Hopefully they will reimburse you in some way and stop selling this microfibre as flats - if you don't say something then the next person is just going to be taken for the same ride.

kitt I agree. I have been meanign to email them anyway for addressing my mail to the local post office Like how the hell was I supposed to know to go in there an dcollect it when I had given them my home address as the delivery address (idiots) I will be emailing them for sure.

What an imcompetant company! Good luck with emailing them! I feel you were mislead too. I mean for pocket stuffing sure it's marketable but flats?!?!

An e-mail would be a good idea, maybe find a good source of infomation about microfibre and send it to them. And if they have not been used then they should be able to refund you.
Im not really the one to advise of material as I have only just started doing nappies (and probably wont continue because its soooo time consuming) and I still havnt been able to try my nappies either. But I suppose some sort of polar fleece or flannel would do the trick to cover the microfibre? As that is what has been used on the nappies I have bought. A sewing machine is a MUST have in our house as dh is always ripping his clothes at work and I also sew on his name to clothes and put buttons on everything. Last year I made 3 quilts though, so it was a great investment

Well, I have my petites coming in the mail and the night nap from BBH AND today I ordered some IB's on clearance!!!! Yeah!!!! I wish the sales would stop though as i'm spending so much money it's not like I NEED more nappies hahaha

I'm really loving BBH's and IB's at the moment..... I can't buy velcro nappies anymore DD just rips them off so snaps only for us!!!

Been good, no buying, well not much anyway, had a relapse 3 weeks ago when I rediscovered the itti love, but only got 6 or so, and the y were all second hand or swaps.
May be getting a new love though, those bonds roomies are doing things for me.
Also ordered some custom over cloth pants...
So all in all, I the budget is looking pretty good.
Hell, I may even be getting close to the break even point on cloth v's sposies $ dept

OT but those that have sewn with minky, does it need hemming/overlocking? I have a bunch of dud nappies here because leg elastic went a while back and i thought they'd make cute wipes/facewashers for DD.

Was it absolutely saturated? I've found if its absolutely soaked all the way through everything then it needs more stuffing - if it sorta runs off and doesn't get absorbed and leaks that way - then its strip wash time.

I dunno if its the same for everyone, but thats what I've found.

It seemed to be but it just went RIGHT THROUGH. It's an AIO and I know DD drinks A LOT of water but that's just ridiculous. This brand has been fantastic until just now then all of a sudden she's soaking them. was one the other day lasted an hour and she wee'd mid nappy change so it's not as if she had a full bladder.

WOCB: Sposie because daddy dressed her after the bath and I still have half of the packet from the Melbourne stuff sent up.. wasn't complaining because she's been crawling mid dressing and it's been taking half an hour ish.......

What brand CL? and how old is it?

It's a bonnibuns and about 3 months old. I checked the insert and it seems intact. Never had issues with DD wetting through them before. Maybe she was just holding a big wee in?
