Happy New Year!! We were away for a week and used cloth the whole time but DH spent 2 hours at a laundromat mid week I half thought about just rinsing and washing when we got home but we probably wouldn't have had enough nappies (def not enough night ones) and I was worried about the elastic being broken down by the wee. We're going to NZ for a week in February though and we won't use cloth on that trip but we are still considering taking night nappies at least.
DD is starting day care for a couple of days a week this month. We are going to ease her into it with just a couple of hours a day this month then a bit longer next month and start the full 2 days in March. We are able to use cloth nappies (woot woot!!) and I bought a heap of itti bitti clearance ones and will pre do them with the liner and have them all together. Just wondering about labelling them. Do I just use normal name labels? Where abouts should I place them on the nappies? Has anyone done this before? Also.....the centre has specifically asked for a bucket which is fine but I would like to get a big wet bag to put inside the bucket. Anyone know where I can get a good sized one?
How exciting starangelk! I can't remember where I saw good sized wetbags... might have been nature's cradle? Can't remember the brand, or the site, or anything remotely helpful. Sorry. As for name labels, attach them to the Itti label, especially if you have stitch-on labels. Having them pre-done with the liner is a great idea - you would be amazed at how often nappy fail occurs in childcare.
We've been having a cloth-tastic time, although struggling a bit with all the rain. Some stuff takes 3-4 days to dry on the indoor line, but my mega-stash keeps me going! DH is rapidly developing favourites - still in love with the CTBD, but also loves the old-skool MagicAlls (that were $4 or something ridiculous!) and the Bambooty easy-dry. My faves are the Bubblebubs AIOs. Funny, because pre-birth, he wanted some velcro nappies, whereas I thought I'd prefer snaps, and now she's here and it turns out we've reversed!
WONB: ME Sandys, with BBH booster, homemade booster liner and mauve loveybums cover. Delicious.
Ooooh thanks Audax. I'll head over to nature's cradle and check it out. I bought the clearance itti's so the label has been cut off unfortunately.....do you think the iron on ones will still work if I put them at the back of the nappy inside? So like where a pants label would be?
Yay for mega stashes! I found velcro heaps easier in the early days but when DD started to chub up a bit the snaps were better for her around the thighs for some reason. Plus, I am a bit hopeless with velcro and kept sticking it to her shirt, my shirt, the blanket on the changetable - anything but where it was supposed to go
We use baby safaris at day care but he kept having his pants changed so sposies are the go until I can remember to remind them that he's in cloth or I'll use the green kids when they get here I scored 7 for $76 woo hoo lol and someone has kindly given me some too never tried them I hope they go good on both kiddies then I might replace a bulk of our stash then DH might change bums just have to make sure DS has pants on or it will be riiiiiiiiip lol
Try it, like a pants label. Are they te iron on ones with the round corners, or square ones? Round ones seem to stay on better. Would you consider writing your name across the nappy in laundry marker? Could be done on each of the layers if you got the snap ins.
Reminds me, we had an IttiLeak today, around the thighs. Annoying! Partly due to madam's epic sleep, but also poor fit, which is a bummer!
They are rectangles, no round edges. Can't believe I didn't think to use a permanent marker - OMG. *shakes head*
3 weeks old and epic sleep? Woot Woot!!
J.......what do you mean "kept having his pants changed?" Does daycare change every X hours or something? We only change DD every 3 hours at home and not at all overnight - is that normal?
Tripple J, was that the ones on ebay by chance?? i was looking at them, but compleatly forgot and remembered to late, theyd just ended!!!
Starangelk, i only change dd when she needs a change, more often when its hot as shes a sweaty little thing, and shes in the one nappy all night.
yeah sarah it was lucky u didnt remember lol then i wouldnt get them
i think its coz i forget to tell them hes in them and in the morning he does his massive pee i sometimes forget myself but then most of his other nappies come home relatively dry so its just the first one for the day i change him every 3 to 4 hours depending on poos that is and thats usually enough sometimes he goes for his nap and i forget to change him before hand and we get wet pants but thats just my forgetfulness
Starangelk - when my kids went to daycare in cloth I used bumg's mostly (cos then I didn't have to worry about them not liking the snaps to do up) and I didn't have to name them because my kids were the only ones in cloth so it was pretty obvious who they belonged to. I did have some trouble with one daycare though, they would say that the nappies leaked and were a health risk - only because they were opening his nappy after 2 hours, checking the inner layer (so NOT the insert inside the pocket) and said "oh its dry" and put the same nappy back on him, even though I had specifically told them to change him after every 2 hours. So of course, in an hour or so, it would explode when he did another pee. Took months to get them to listen to me, and I even wrote a bit spiel on MCN's and why to change him every 2 hours.
As for wetbags, I had a huge one - swaddlebees brand. I have 2 smaller jamtots ones at the moment, and the girls at daycare would put the wetbag into their nappy pail they had under the sink, and then I would collect the wetbag at the end of the day. Easy!
Not much happening here.. slowly paying off my custom order for 12 widdlewuns... can't wait to pay them off and get them from Christie!!! Then I may not have to use as many flats
i have the opposite problem mel they change him way more often than i do but theres a few there in cloth so they already do it so i was lucky i wanna know how they can deal with him all day without his dummy lol
I will be selling my nappy stash soon, does anyone know the best place to sell it? Would like to sell it as a bulk lot. Mainly baby beehinds and bumgenius.
