Thanks ladies! It's not a rash but looks more like a burnt patch. it almost looks like someone spilt hot water on her bits (the initial redness before a blister). Definately off to the health food shop tomorrow to have a squiz at the products. My skin is in need of serious TLC too!

ETA: DD rarely gets nappy rash, maybe once in every 2 months and usually only when teething or she has the trots

So... DH (who was all like, 'no we don't need cloth nappies, they're expensive & will be lots of work, ner ner blergh blergh' and last night said "fine, buy THREE but that's it, no more and I don't want to hear about it again") leaned over my shoulder tonight while I was checking out the FB page... and all of a sudden it was 'hmm, I like that one.. what about that? yeah that's cute, how about that one? what the hell, you may as well get 4, and those other two, that will be it and don't let me look at this page anymore"

I think he's finally converted, albeit kicking & screaming... but I have fluffy mail coming now

Was that the cotton outer one Helle? I've heard AG cotton outers are made in a way that they don't wick but I am so not game to try with Pixie's wee load. So far no package and no email from AG still so feeling pretty bummed about that.

I have been pumping the water into DD but after the runny poos her nappies are a tad dryer then average. She only did one tiny accident when I let her air for over an hour this arvo. I'm hoping she's not dehydrated at all. no temp so FX it's just me being super paranoid! I put a little lavendar oil in the bath and that combined with air has decreased the redness but she's still flinching. I was super gentle putting the pawpaw on tonight but she still pulled away. She's not fussing but she's a trooper like that.

WOCB: Bonnibuns night nappy packed with paw paw ointment. If i have to change her in the middle of the night so be it but not putting a sposie anywhere near her right now!

CL I was up at my sister's last week, her newborn had a little patch on her bum of raw skin, looked like someone had peeled the first few layers off with a peeler just a little spot about the size of my pinky fingernail. Not sure if that's the same kind of thing? She used Amolin cream on it religiously - she's a great pooer, so changing every hour or so - and after a couple of days it had started to clear.
I don't know that Amolin would be good for cloth nappies though... maybe if you used a liner & just put it on that spot?

that sounds like what dd gets from her poo's, she still has a mark, looks like a scar on her fan from it but usualy that clears up over the next month.. df saw it when it first appeared and said it looked like my mum had burnt her with a smoke. its happened befor so i know its her poo doing it and it dose go away, just waiting for it to go is a killer! i think i used benpanthen last time and it was gone by the end of the week not compleatly but was no longer a sore or weeping. this time i used pawpaw, felt like it took forever!

Hey CrazyLady, just popping in to say that my DS2 gets the same sort of thing every time he's cutting teeth. I use liners so I've tried all sorts of creams and started using Canestan rinse. The last patch took ages to clear up but funny the thing that cleared it up in a couple of days was the Curash Powder. It's got cornstarch in it, so next time I'm tempted to use just cornflour and see if that helps. We were also swimming lots in the ocean, so the saltwater probably played a part too
Hope your little one's butt is feeling better soon.

Arimeh - I swear I'm not stalking you! You just post in all the interesting threads
