I've kept a spreadsheet of what I have spent and buying different kinds of nappies to try out and then settling on a full time supply of Baby Beehinds Bamboo, I have spent $1400. Hope DH doesn't see this!!

BBH are the best for us - I absolutely love them and wish that I had of just got them straight out but you dont know what is going to work on your baby without trying others out first. I bought heaps of boosters, more than I probably need but I figure they will get used more and more as Bub gets bigger.
Cushie Cushie Couture were my worst buy, they just dont fit my girl.
MIL made me heaps of cloth bum wipes so I didn't have to buy them, thankfully.
I realise that I've spent a lot - might have to ebay the rest of the CTs and the others that I dont use!
wow thanks for you honesty, we too prominently have bbh's and we are loving them even tho they are a cheaper happy they have worked for us i have not had the luxury of testing others out. but love the bbh especially as a night nappy sometimes we double boost with a fleece liner for the morning poop.
not much - maybe $200? like Bath I use flannel flats and covers (home mades that MIL bought procare for and sewed for me). I have a few BBH and bum genius but prefer the flats.
we actually got flannel for $2.50 a metre from spotlight....
I honestly can't remember. Maybe $800? That's a rough estimate. I started DS in larges (at 15 months) but I now have an almost complete stash from NB to Large. Way more than I need too.
We've spent $500-600. And she's been in cloth since a week old.
Thats on 30 small and 30 large, plus cloth wipes, boosters, and covers, and 6 dedicated night nappies. We only use cheap terry/cotton/flannelette fitteds, and we use boosters and good covers. We probably change more often but being a SAHM I don't find it an issue. My washing machine does all the work so the extra nappies makes no difference.
Would love some great quality nappies, would love some cute ones, but they aren't really in the budget.
OK, I have just added all this up. Maybe six hundred pounds. Maybe 700. No, won't be that much. Maybe 600.
DS is two and a half.
A disposable nappy is about 50p-?1 a nappy. So that's say 1000 disposables. As DS is over 500 days old I've saved money. (He wears more than two nappies a day, btw!)
My stash:
Baby nappies: 5 Sandys, 40 flats with 6 covers, 6 bamboo with 2 covers, 3 AIOs.
Toddler nappies: 12 bamboo with 6 covers, 5 motherease fitted one-size, 13 flats with 5 covers and 4 stuffable covers, 3 other stuffables, 1 AIO, 4 motherease AI2s, 5 hemp with 2 covers.
Also about 30 liners.
However, 2 motherease AI2s, one stuffable and my toddler AIO have been "lost" by nursery. 10 of the bamboo nappies were quite cheap and only lasted a year of constant wear before the elastic started to go. I dislike the motherease and sandys fitted nappies, but they were free. Oh and I have a load of unused nappies too that I was going to sell. So about 10 more baby-size nappies.
I'll probably buy more AIOs if I have another baby.
I worked this out a while back: including all the fitteds, AIOs, flats, covers and materials for making my own (incl wipes), we've probably spent around $900. Though we don't use the flats anymore, including those we easily have enough for 5+ days of use.
We've been in cloth since around 1 week and only one kid so far, but hoping they'll last for another.
We use only a tiny bit of detergent and are only washing every two days at the moment. I use the dryer ocasionally if things haven't quite dried.
