So disheartened :( can't get on top of the nappy rash

OK it must be microfleece touching her bum then and microfibre on the inside (finally sorted that out thanks Arimeh!).
Reckon we will ditch them as they definately are the culprits. The couple of suedecloth lined /bamboo insert Itii Bittis we've had don't seem to aggravate the rash but I'll wait til it's cleared to try again. By the time the rash is cleared plus the obligatory one week additional treatment we'll be off to NZ so I'll reserve the decision on what nappy to try til we get back (pity cos IB has a marvellous sale on right now!)

Emma - wow another use for bicarb! That stuff is the bomb Will try it in her bath tonight. So do you wipe your DD down with water and bicarb then? A friend suggested I use sorbolene instead of water (has helped somewhat)
Ryatha DD is still fully BF at the moment but I do have a glass of fruit juice in the mornings - worth a shot!

Just had to pop in and thank Emma - the bicarb bath seems to have done wonders overnight! Not totally clear but significantly better

another really good nappy cream to use once it has cleared up as a preventative is MOOGOO MSM Soothing Cream......google it and see if there is a stockist near you....it is really awesome stuff by all accounts and totally safe for cloth nappies.......

Another really good nappy rash cream that I've found and use all the time now is Calmoseptine. Available over the counter at a chemist. It's around $13 for the tube but you don't need to use much of it at all and it cleared my DD's worst rash in about two days. I work in an aged care facility and we use this on our high care residents that wear incontinence pads.

Plain old ordinary corn flour from the supermarket is THE best thing for nappy rash. My daughter had terrible nappy rash for ages, and I tried everything, until a friend who's worked in child care for 20 years suggested corn flour. It's fantastic. Just sprinkle a liberal amount on bubs as soon as you see any redness.
Also, I found changing my washing powder made a big difference. Even though I do an extra rinse every wash I still found Omo Matic was too harsh for my little one's bot. Omo Sensitive is fine.

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions - I'm using most of them!
Turns out we had a peristsant case of thrush so we're hitting it with the 'hard stuff' (Canesten) at the mo, then will use the RCH Nappy Goo once healed (my naturopath reckoned that it was a great formulation ).
Not sure what we'll do about getting back into the cloth once we're back from our NZ holiday but we're investigating a compostible nappy service (Eenees) in our area for day as every MCN seems to have some form of fleece/sudedecloth involved and keep up the BBH bamboo night nappies....will keep you posted!
