    concerns for 7 week old

Hi all, i am posting to see what others think.

My neice is now 7 weeks old, she is formula feed, she wont settle at night, she brings up a fair amount of her feeds and her poo is quite runny still.
she has put on approx 800 grams in 4 weeks.

My brother is getting concerned, and very tired as they are not getting much sleep.
    Does anyone have any suggestions

I really wouldnt know - but mabe she has reflux? My 'neice' was like that and it turned out she was lactose intolerant.
Also some people find that different formulas have different results...A baby in my mothers group cant stomach the S26 Gold so had to switch....?

I think the same as BF poos. Poo should be pretty runny til they're on solids, I think.
Maybe look at her behaviour re. settling at night? Does she seem like she's in pain, or is she just getting overtired? When Natty was little she used to take HOURS to settle down in the evening (between about 5 and 9pm - she'd usually drop off, from exhaustion I suspect, by 10). Does she sleep during the day? Sometimes it can all build up and they can't relax. If she seems like she's in pain, she may benefit from seeing an osteopath specialising in babies who can check her out physically. I'd be hesitant to just say 'reflux' automatically, as chucking up is a pretty normal part of being a baby. The pain isn't, obviously, but before I'd medicate I'd be looking at all the options, KWIM?
Anyway, I wish them all the best and hope they can find a solution soon.

The other thing I thought was to make sure she doesnt have gastro...Imnot sure what it does in babies as Charlotte has never had it, but I know what it did to me and it also fits...
I would go an dsee the CHN and get the to write everything down - when she feeds, how much, when she vomits, poos, if she is in pain, unsettled, etc so that theycan show the nurse.

I have a friend who's DS is only now back to his birth weight at 4 weeks old. He is the tiniest skinniest little guy ever.
Perhaps your niece isn't putting on much weight as she is throwing up her milk. Both my bubs couldn't tolerate S26 gold either, I use Bellamys and it's great.
BTW a FF baby usually has "thicker" poos than a BF baby and not as many.
