Help please!!!!!! How do I get DS to sleep with teething...
He has his first tooth coming through. I can feel it breaking the skin, and there is a bit of blood on his gum. I have rubbed sm33 on it, so i cant do it again for 3 hrs, and tried to give him panadol but he spat the panadol up, and is now lying in his cot, rubbing his gum with his tongue and moaning... How can I help him????
TIA!
it's so hard when they are teething especially when it is there first teeth. There isn't a lot you can do, try cuddling him to soothe him. When DS teethed with his first 2 teeth (they came through together) at about 3 am DP came out & gave him an arrowroot biscuit to chew, DS was about 5 & 1/2 mnths so a bit older than your DS but you could try a rusk. That night he fell asleep with his arms over my shoulders cuddling me totaly exhausted, there was nothing else I could do but cuddle & rock him that night. You could try giving him a facewasher that has been wet & put in the freezer for 5 mins for him to suck on.
Do you have any nurofen? you can alternate that I believe with the panadol so if he spat it out as you say you could try that. A trick I have learnt with the panadol that I give with the syringe is I play with him (sing a song, act silly) & then touch his lips with a finger with 1 hand so he opens his mouth & then squirt a bit in, not all at once. I then act really silly why he swallows (or gaggs - it must taste really bad poor kids) & then keep doing this until he has taken the whole dose.
It can also take awhile for the teething gel to work so hopefully by now it has taken affect & your little boy is a little better. Hope you have a good night & goodluck
i am sure people will disagree with me but i give our DD nurofen and it really settles her, is ok on her tummy too. also brauers teething relief is excellent. poor little man
IF you have no homeopathic teething relief... than.... a washer with a touch of water stuck in the freezer helps. Numbing it... rub a clove on the gum right there, or ice.
thank you all... this tooth just come out of the blue, we had no warning or signs... Just a little fussing yesterday (which I did not put down to teeth) and then today there it was. At least I had the gel.
Anyway, he is finally asleep, so some of the panadol must have gone down, or the gel kicked in. Poor little mate.
Christy - I was about to go in for the ice when he finally fell asleep.
Beatrix - thanks!!!
I will be off to the chemist first thing for some teething relief and some nurofen JIC I think...
Bub may need a few more cuddles over this period. With Loren's first tooth she was up and down for nights on end. Most nights she'd settle on my chest. She also went to sleep with me holding a teething ring on her gum.
