How much does your chemist charge for losec suspension?

I just want to find out if the chemist I bought my sons losec suspension from, is charging a reasonable amount for their losec suspension form.
We paid $37 for 50ml but you can buy 100ml for $50, but they didn't have this size left today, so I bought the smaller one to get us started.

I was just told from my health fund that they may cover anything over 30.50 up to the amount of 50. So that might work out the same, if they cover it of course. But incase they don't, if you could find out of a cheaper place for me, that would be very kind of you. I live in New Farm, Brisbane. The pharmacy that I got his first dose from was at Carina. I have family down at Victoria Point, so I could drive anywhere in the South East part of Queenland.

It must be a brisbane thing I just rang another store and they want $59 for 100ml and $50 for 50ml, what a rip off they are. I must keep ringing around.

I get mine from Carina also, plain and simply cos it's the closest place. May I ask where you got the other quote from?

I know there is a compounding pharmacy in Wynnum or Vic Point, is that the one you called?

I'm willing to pay anything to be honest. I'd rather not have to dissolve it, so I choose the more expensive option.

Yeah me too Ashlee. The other place I rang was in the Valley somewhere, Wickham Street I think. I might try the place at Victoria Point as my Mum and Dad live down there, and I'm always down that way. Do you know which Pharmacy it is?

I'm really not sure, usually it's a day/night pharmacy so maybe try vitoria point day/night pharmacy in yellowpages. Let me know if you find anywhere cheaper!

Will do, I was thinking about trying the Redlands Hospital too.

Hey BTW, to you know if the Chemist we are currently getting it from, add a flavour to it. As my DS is really enjoying the taste, it's kind of like strawberry hey?. I'd hate to find a cheaper one, and he won't like the taste, do you know if they do? And do all of the do?

    Ashlee, found a cheaper one.
It's the pharmacy at the new main shopping centre at Victoria Point, Full Life Pharmacy.
They charge $35 for 60ml or $38 for 100ml. And they do the Tutti Fruitti flavour. I think I will get this one as the 60ml would be perfect size for us as he is only on 1-2ml a day ATM and it is still cheaper for 10ml more.

I had bubs at Redlands and they don't do the suspension there (that's where I see my paed).
Thanks so much for the info though on Viccy Point, it's closer than Carina to us also so I might just have to go there from now on (pity I just bought 50mL yesterday from bloody Carina LOL).
Blake hated having it to start off with but I think that was cos of the cold, not the taste, now he takes it with no fuss at all!

Good grief. I was paying $50 for 30mls (he was on 1ml a day) so if he spat it out I would get so upset. Once I tipped the bottle over as I was putting the lid back on with baby under one arm and lost about $20 worth . I asked the chemist for a little bit more as 30mls was his whole month supply which didn't leave any room for error - well they charged me $65 for "a bit more" (about 50mls, not even shown on bottle so who knows.....). Funny how they all charge different amounts. I have looked elsewhere but it became too difficult to find a close easy option other than this chemist. I have gone back to dissolving the tablets in water as I found the liquid to be too exprensive and therefore stressful for me. He takes the dissolved tabs quite well now.

Well we pay $48 every 2 weeks, so almost a $100 a month, of which we get none back or covered, and I can tell you it is worth every penny. We get ours compounded 2mg/ml and need to get 300ml every 2 weeks, so that is actually an OK price considering what you are paying for 100ml. Is it 2mg/ml compounded?

Hey Ladies, that price is for 5mg/ml. So it sounds like it is a good price.
