does your 4 months old go bonkers?

    Hello mums,

My son was sleeping so well the for 1.5 week before he turned 4 months (8-9 hours at night) I put him down awake and he'll talk and suck his thumb or hand and eventually goes to sleep on his own. Then he turned 4 months on Monday last week and I have not had any sleep since Tuesday. I had to feed him to sleep a few nights . He wakes every 1.5 - 3 hourly crying, if i try to pop his dummy, he just screams so only booby will do!

He had his 4 month injection on Wed, I thought I can blame it on that, but he started on Tuesday He's been very clingy too, cant leave him alone for long so I can't even have shower during the day anymore.

Is this a common phase? How long will did yours last? I am sleep deprived and if this doesn't resolve itself, I think I'd shoot myself!!

yes to everything u said.... my dd is six months and its still occassionally happening, we have good days and bad days, good weeks and bad weeks... i definitely think it started at 4 months though, thats the last time i can remember her sleeping in her cot and sleeping thru....

im hoping it settles down soon but i dont like my chances!!

Thanks Sarajane - yep I hear you and the tips in that thread are fantastic. Its really frustrating isnt it - Im just going to assume that its a phase that she will grow out of, so Im doing whatever I need to do to get her to settle and to not drive myself insane. Im trying to settle by patting and just sitting with her and if she really cries (not a fake Im tired grizzle) then I will put her on the boob to get her to sleep. Somebody mentioned consistency and I find this the hardest as she changes how she responds to comforting every time so I change what I do Fingers crossed it passes quickly and we get our self settling 8 hour nights back soon!
