i have wrapped DD since she was born and if she is not wrapped she wont sleep well!! but now she is rolling over in her sleep while wrapped but not waking up until uncomfortable.. then when she does wake up she screams and this is happening a few times in the night the past week or so!! but if i dont wrap her she wakes up more!! i just dont know what to do and i need more sleep is any thing i can do to stop her rolling over in her sleep???
Thats a hard one, I would try and kick the wrapping habit for a start as she is over 7 months now. Try wrapping her a little less tight each night untill she is used to it then eventually if she wriggles out she wont mind so much. She might be happy to sleep on her tummy but it would be really uncomfortable if her arms are wrapped up. I remember my child health nurse at my antinatal classes saying "dont do anything now that you dont want to be doing in 12 months time" With my boy, I wrapped him at the start then sometimes forgot to wrap him and from there he now sleeps with just his blankets over him. It might take a few sleepless nights for you but it should get better, they can always get used to new things!
i thought sleeping on the tummy was a no no?? i started not wrapping her today for her day sleeps and woke a few times but i resettled her!! so fingers crossed tonight will go ok!!
HI Maddymummy,
I had this problem with my DS when he was about the same age. I bought a GroBag sleeping bag and haven't had a problem since. He just didn't stay in the one spot in the cot so blankets were useless - not to mention potentially dangerous!
There is nothing you can do re the rolling over. She is probably waking because she is cold rather than the wrapping thing. I'd try a sleeping bag!!!

Hi Maddysmummy, where abouts are you?
I got mine from Baby Bunting in Vic. You can also order them online. I've seen them advertised on Ebay. There is also the mail order company BambinoPronto who sell them. Try a google search. I think David Jones also has them.
A trick I learnt from a sleep consultant was to wrap my baby in a flat cot sheet rather than a baby wrap especially when they are a bit older - my baby was wrapped until 8 months and we only stopped because it was getting into summer and he was too hot. The baby wraps are too small for babies when they are a bit older and the sheet works a treat. Also to stop rolling over fold a towel in half length ways and then roll it up tightly, place your baby on her back and then place two towels closely tucked down either side of her, then tuck your sheet/blanket over her tightly. It keeps her from rolling and is quite safe or you can try after you've tucked her in stuff a rolled towel down the side of the matress ie the bars on the cot, it keeps the sheet tucked in more tightly as I found our little wriggler would roll around and pull the sheets and blanket off then wake up. With his sheets tucked in nice and tight and kept in place by the rolled towel he was snug and slept better. Just some ideas I received from a sleep consultant who came to our house to help a desperate Mummy and a 9 week old non-sleeping baby!
We did the sheet wrapping thing too but ultimately once the hands were out and he was rolling and wriggling all over the cot - it was useless too!
The sleeping bag has been brilliant and I have had a baby who has slept through the night since I bought it (well, except for a couple nights when he had gastro!) Well, worth it!
