My little man Jack, has always been a good night sleeper since birth, always 4 hourly feeds and going straight back to sleep. He has never really like to sleep much in the day, just having short cat naps.
Anyway, I have been reading a lot about baby hammocks on BB and thought I would give it a go, I went and hired one yesterday as I didn't want buy one just in case he didnt like it. I got it home and set it up and put him straight in for a sleep....well, knock me down with a feather...he slept for 2 and half hours....wooooohooooooo. Last night he had his last feed at 11pm and woke at 6am. I am sooooooo in love with the Amby baby hammock!!!
When my DS1 was a bub he would only day nap in my arms, we bought a hammock and the first time I put him in it he napped for 2 hours. We didn't know ourselves!!!
We hae a cradle that we got for Izzy but I'm contemplating hiring one too - can I ask how much you paid to hire it for a week hun??? I'm going to go through Hire for Baby if I get one.
Also - is the bedding ok?? I like haing brand new sheets etc for bubby and don't like the idea of using ones that hae been used lots by other babies. Sorry to hijack your thread!!
Tan, you could put your own sheet over the top of the hammock sheet if you wanted to. A cradle/bassinette sheet would fit well, you just fold it around the mattress.
I highly recommend Hire for Baby in Vermont, I bought my hammock from Penny the owner, she is wonderful
Thats great news!!!
I brought one last week, just waiting for it to arrive.
One question do you put him in it awake, or put him to sleep then put him in it?
We used a hammock for DS untill he started rolling too much! I miss putting him in it!
Jo we always put ds in awake then gently rocked him to sleep! But sometimes he would fall aseep on me and we would put him in. If he started to stir we would just rock it untill he fell deeper abck into sleep!
Jo...I put him in awake and just bounce it a couple of times till he goes to sleep.
Tan...It cost me $30 for one week, then it is around $130 - $140 for 6 months, but the $30 comes off that, so will only pay about $100. I used Hire for Baby in Wollongong. Mine didn't come with extra bedding, just the mattress and mattress cover. I use my own bassinette sheets that I already had.
Hmm, i wonder if Isabell would sleep in this during the day, i might look at hiring one for a week to see how it goes. Isabell is a horrible day sleeper.
YAY Marlene, how exciting for you
Thats great news Marlene. I'm in Perth and would love to get one. What is the brand of hammock? Ruby likes to be snuggled and I'm sure I she would love it.
Diamond, its an Amby Hammock. If you do a google search you will find their website, or you can google "Hire for Baby" and there will probably be one in your area.
Another two nights of sleeping through...this is awesome!! I feel human again, LOL.
