Co sleeping hints and tips for a dummy!

    Hi there!
I have found that my mummy's boy is not a happy camper in his cot and the only way he will sleep longer than one hour, is in someones arms, or in our bed!

I always swore never to co sleep, but it looks as if bubs dictates my actions yet again!! hehe

I am just wanting some hints and tips. I am soooo scared of rolling on my poor little man! I havent yet, and since being preggers and finding it too difficult to move during sleep, I don't move around whilst sleeping anymore.

How do I go about it? What are the safest ways of doing things?
I am taking all my pillows out of the bed bar one, and trying to just wrap Lach up in his own blanket, and not under our doona.

    Any tips hints greatly appreciated!!!

I am in need of quality sleep!!!

you could put a noisy toy right next to you .. if you roll close to bubs it will make a noise and "alert " you
and as for a dummy ... use a soft one and an age app. one , happy baby are the best and you can order a special newborn size from the chemist ...

i tried to limit its use as i was sacred he would be come addicted , in the end he only had it whilist sleeping .. and no longer has it at all ... babies like to suck, if your boobs have had enough its ok to offer a dummy ....

but never let it be a parent subsitute!!

dont stress bout co sleeping ... studies say you and bubs fall into a similar sleep pattern and will be in tune with wakefull ness and feeding times and you will have a lighter sleep as you will be aware !! kwim ?? hth

    Hey Nicky,

I dont have any real info on co-sleeping but I know that when Oscar is in bed with me that I 'just know' he is there and I dont move.

So I'm not really any help! LOL

    cheers danielle. thanks

I am having issues with his sleeping and feeding at the minute and finding it hard to cope.
Just wish I could sort out one and then just deal with the other one.
    oh well.

We also use sleeping bags with arms in them so I don't have to worry if DS is warm enough.
I love co-sleeping as I can watch him, cuddle him, and so much easier to feed during the night. I have also found I "know" where he is. Enjoy your better sleep!!!

I have a co-sleeping bed I bought from K-mart called the First Years. It is a hard plastic shell at the top and folds up into a compact carry bag. It rolls out into your bed and the top section protects the baby from being rolled on. I only used this in the first few weeks when we first co-slept (and were scared about rolling on him) but now Oscar just sleeps in with us tucked into the crook of my arm.

J hates sleeping alone. At night he sleeps in bed with us. He's wrapped and our blankets go under his legs. We also took the side off his cot and pushed it up against our bed (you can stuff any gap with pillows or get foam cut to fit). He will sometimes (LOL he's maybe done it 4-5 times) sleep in his cot like that but it's a bit of a pain as he likes to be cuddled whilst asleep and it's hard to stretch all the way over into the cot. Would be a good set up for a baby that doesn't need to be held so much tho. I find that I'm very aware of where he is and I instinctively know what noises I have to wake up for.

Of a day he sleeps in the HAB, in my arms, or on my lap. Sometimes he will sleep in his vibrating bouncer so I'll put him in that if I can't hold/wear him.

    HTH.
