Cyclists don't have boys?

With our first DS, DH was riding 70kms a day 5 days a week and we fell pg with DS so I don't know how true it could be.

They also say truck drivers should only produce girls as well but we have 5 boys , lol.

I know a family with one girl and 3 boys and the father rides everywhere.... I think this theory is about the ideal temp the testes should be kept at (hence them being enclosed in the scrotum away from the body). There are loads of things that could also affect this such as the hormones produces by both the mother and the father... you think if the man is being competitive he would have high testosterone, and there for favour Y sperm production....??

Thing is... it may increase the likelihood of having girls, but it doesn't make boys impossible. You'll always find cases where the opposite has happened.

Hmm DP rides a LOT and we have 2 girls - no trouble concieving them either, first try both times!
Thinking of all the other full on cyclists that we know there does seem to be a larger number of daughters in the group..... might get DP to do a poll with his bicycle forum and I will report the results back

OMG I would laugh if our DHs use the same bike forum! Your family did spring to mind as I was running through everyone I knew.

Apparently it has something to do with the heat of the scrotum. Boy sperm are generally more delicate and don't deal as well with the heat. I can't find any research on it though

My best friend would debunk this theory, albeit she would love to have a girl, but she is about to birth her second son even after trying gender swaying conception techniques. Her DH cycles at least 60km a day to/from work plus mountain biking every week. She cycles up to birth too Maybe they are just the other end of the odds as BW points out.

They say the same about scuba divers. In DH's circle of diving instructors there are slightly more girls than boys, but still plenty of boys including our two!
