I`m a UTI queen!!!!!

I started getting UTi`s once my partner and myself started DTD, with my first pregnancy I had a couple of bad UTI`s, one where I was hospitalised as it got into my kidneys, I have always used cranberry tablets since getting UTI`s, after my first son was born, I had one other UTI then I went for at least 18 months with no UTI`s at all even throughout TTc #2 and my second pregnancy, it didn`t flare up, until after my 2nd son was born, my UTi`s got worse then ever before, they started coming every 6 weeks then monthly, they were worse then ever and the pain, I was so scared off DTD as I knew that brought them on, whatever I did, it didn`t work, I have always drank lots of water so always flushing my bladder out but I still got them.

My GP sent me for a kidney/bladder u/s, which showed nothing, I in the end ask to go to a Urologist, I was actually sent to a Gynouroligist and she was lovely, explained to me that so many women have UTI problems (I felt like I was the only one and was often in tears), she said that it`s often genetic (my Mum suffers from UTI`s badly), DTD brings it on (I have always used the toliet after DTD), it`s also one of those things they don`t really know why some women are so plagued by them and others aren`t and she said sometimes it will just go one day and not return, she put me onto a 6 months course of macrodantin and hiprex as she said I could have the bug still there lurking in my system, I went back after the 6 months (no breakthrough at all), she then put me onto using macrodantin after DTD, all was safe while TTC and that`s how we managed to TTC this baby, she has also given me scripts of keflex incase I have a breakthrough, which is really handy.

She did say I may need daily macrodantin while pregnant but I`m just taking the wait and see approach on this.

I hope I`ve been of some help but I think it`s important that you book yourself into see a urologist.

UTI`s are not nice especially when your being plagued by them and feel like your the only one around with this problem, hugs to you.

Take Care
