Hi there, DH and I tried for just over 12 months for our second DS before heading off to my OB/GYN. From there we tried Clomid for 2or 3 cycles with no success. We then headed to Hunter IVF and both did full sreening tests. Nothing came up as a result of those.
My IVF doctor had a theory though, as my cycles were always 27-29 days and sometimes AF wouldn't arrive till up to a week after and be much worse than others that he suspected that medication i had been and was partly still taking for arthritis may have been preventing a successful pregnancy and that i may have had a few very early m/c. Other than that he saw no real reason we were not getting pg other than it being "the luck of the draw".
Thankfully on our first IVF attempt we conceived Liam. I can completely understand were your head space is atm as the ongoing hope and then setbacks really do take thier toll on not only us but our partners and families and friends. My advice would be to go and have an appointment, get some testing done and go from there. Either way you will more than likely know if its bad timing or something else. No matter which way it turns out it means you are one step closer to getting a BFP. Good Luck.
Infact we have been trying for 13 months and have just done the testing and get the results this afternoon.
I do not know whether to hope that maybe there is something wrong and it is easily fixed (as then we will have an answer) or to hope that there is nothing wrong and continue the frustraiting cycles although my doctor told me that some couples have nothing wrong with them and just are incompatable so I do not know.
I suggest getting the testing and at least then you will know what you are dealing with.
We tried for about 14 months before becoming pregnant with our DD. Like you, we were doing everything "right", it just took that long. We didn't go for testing, and she was conceived naturally. We have never used birth control of any sort, and our three girls are about two years apart.
Hope you find some good answers soon.
We tried for about 18months with no luck and then we were keen to start the testing and had DP booked for sperm count etc for starters and the dr said to give it another month and BD on days 10/13/16/19 & 21 (we had just been doing it all the time!) and we got preg that month!
