    Question Do antibiotics affect sperm? Is it safe to TTC?

    Does anyone know if it's ok to TTC while DH is on antibiotics?

    I think most antibiotic are safe when TTC.

    I think they are too, if you are worried i would check with your gp.

    I think they are okay too but check. There is more things that effect us gals than the guys.

    I suspect ok. Keep in mind that sperm takes i believe 3 months to mature so my understanding is that if a guy is sick 3 months back then his sperm would be less than normal quality. That is also why testing for male infertility is done more than once and over at least 3 month time frame. It is possible that antibiotics though could impact it, but I am not aware of any negative impacts per say.

    We were advised by our fertility specialist when ttc 'naturally' (ie just on clomid before we started ivf) that DH being on antibiotics for a virus would not affect his sperm and we ttc that month - didn't succeed though unfortunately!

    Go for it, it won't be a problem.
