    Do sore boobs mean ovulation????

    Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knows whether sore boobs means you HAVE ovulated? I often get very sore boobs from CD 14 - which only go away after AF or the day it's due. I was wondering if this is a definite sign of ovulation having already happened or happening at the same time as the breasts start to feel sore?? I am a bit confused about the sore boobs meaning ovulation because I didn't have LOTS of EWCM till CD 17 (but seemed to have a little bit on CD 11 and a little bit more on CD 13. Plus we BD on those days).

Also, does anyone know if having v sore boobs for 2 weeks out of 4 in a 28 day cycle, is normal, or might it suggest an imbalance in one hormone or the other?

    Many thanks for any ideas

    Rach

    Hi Rach,
I have heard that some women do get sore boobs when they ovulate but I am not sure how long it lasts for.
I tried doing a search on the net for you too but couldn't find any info about how long they are sore for.

    hi rach,
I get really sore/swollen bbs the day of O but strangely this has only started to occur the last couple of cycles. It only lasts a day.
Then they get sore/swollen a week before AF and last a few days.

    Hi there,

I get the same thing. I never ever noticed until starting TTC, typically you notice every little thing when ttc!
They get sore 1-2 days after thermal shift, ie ovulation.
They get a little less sore a few days later then become more tender again a few days before AF.
MC is a bit confusing though. Could it have been a post BD issue IUKWIM?

    Hope that helps! sassba

Thanks for your replies everyone i also did a bit of googling re the sore breasts, and Iv'e bought some B6 as apparently that can help with the excess oestrogen that may be the cause. I still don't know how/if mine indicate ovulation, but I'll keep paying attention and see what happens.
    Cheers,
    Rach

    Rach,
Mine hurt around ovulation time and stay like that until AF arrives or a day or so later.

Thanks for that. I have PCOS so AF went awal for a while but has since returned for the last 2 cycles. Since then have been getting sore boobs for about a week or two before AF arrives. Never had this before. Hoping it is a sign of ovulation as we are TTC no 1.

Rachel - the excess estrogen theory makes sense as around O you would have lots of that in your system. For the past two cycles I've had sore BBs for around a week or more after O & I have had high levels of estrogen in my system at the time.... according to my GP way more than I should have had at the time tested.

Oddly enough though I'm now 7DPO and have not had sore BBs at all this cycle. I'm hoping that means my hormones have evened out. It's my third cycle since a m/c.
