    excersise during pregnancy

hi everyone, i was wondering if somone can tell me if jogging/ brisk walking in your first trimester is ok. i am ttc at the moment and on a weightloss program and have been jogging. In my first pregnancy i did no excersise and really suffered with gest diabetes and fluid.

    Hi TayTay,

I played state league hockey until I was 14 weeks and would have played longer if we didn't get knocked out in the 1st round of finals. One of the girls on my team played her last game at 16 weeks.

My OB said so long as you were already doing the exercise before you conceived then it would be fine, you just should not take up something new once you fall pg.

TayTay, I kept up my normal exercise regime (including karate, running and boxing) until I found out I was pg. I then stopped the more 'high risk' stuff but kept going to the gym until the m/s kept me away from that too.

    Good luck

    Hi TayTay,

Taytay - agree with above. I work in the Fitness Industry. As you can see by my ticker I am 9 weeks pregnant and I am continuing to instruct group fitness classes (indoor cycling and Body Pump) until my body gives me signs that I need to stop.

Exercise is important during pregnancy and in my case it actually makes me feel better Just be careful when you do fall pregnant again watch your intensity and avoid doing activities that will raise your heart rate above 140 bpm. Another key thing is to watch that you are not overheating either. Be sure to keep up with your fluid intake to ensure you stay well hydrated.

So to answer your question to be safe in the first trimester I would stick to the brisk walking but it is entirely up to you and how you feel. Go with your instincts as you are the one who knows your body best. Your body will tell you if it is too much

Hope that helps! Good luck with TTC #2
