Oooo I love some of those. Spinach especially. So lots of green leafy vegetables and tomatos for me!

(On another note, my DD is sure to produce all boys based on that list!).

Another couple of things I ingested several times a day was carrot juice (fresh, sometimes with celery and pears and tomatoes... yummy!!) and green tea!!

ETA, not spinach on a boy diet, Jen!!

Just quietly popping in as not TTC just yet, but keen to get on board and learn about possible boy swaying. We are not a family known for producing boys!

TMM - Check out the links in the first post.

But for the record as well:

    FOOD TO GET A BOY

As much salt as possible: salted butter, salted and smoked meats.
All meats, fresh or pre-cooked. Especially beef, since cattle are often treated, before slaughter, with male growth hormone, which is then passed on to the consumers of the beef. Of course, this is rather dubious in the light of the current BSE threat. Other meats may have to suffice.
All fish, and two eggs weekly.
White bread and white-flour crisp bread.
    White-flour cakes, pastries and biscuits.
Pasta, rice, semolina (all without milk).
    Milk-free puddings and sauces.
Most vegetables (except those forbidden below): sweetcorn, popcorn, parsley, mushrooms, courgettes, endive, avocado, fennel, raw tomatoes, soya beans, peas and beans, chestnuts.
All fresh fruit, particularly Potassium-rich bananas and fresh pineapple.
    Dried prunes, raisins, figs, apricots.
    Sugar, jam, fruit jellies, sorbets.
    Oils and milk-free margarines.
    Soups, olives and gherkins.

FORBIDDEN WHILE TRYING FOR A BOY

Milk in any form'- butter, cheese, yogurt. Shellfish, molluscs (mussels etc.). Wholemeal bread.
Salad vegetables: raw cabbage and cauliflower, spinach, cress.
    Nuts, cocoa, chocolate, mustard.

    FOOD TO GET A GIRL

As much milk as possible (1 1/3 pints or 770 ml per day). Fresh cream, yogurt.
Limited meat or fish (1 1/4 OZ or 125 g per day).
    Unsalted butter, unsalted soft cheese.
    Milk puddings.
Salt-free wholemeal bread, crisp-bread and pastry, without yeast.
    Rice, pasta, semolina, tapioca.
    Limited amount of potatoes.
Fresh or, frozen carrots, green beans turnips, aubergines, onions, leeks, peas.
Cucumber, radishes, peppers, cress, celeriac, celery.
    Unsalted walnuts, hazelnuts almonds, peanuts.
Fresh, frozen or tinned apples, pears, clementines, strawberries, raspberries. Tinned only pineapples, plums and peaches, all without syrup. Jam once daily, sugar, honey.
Vegetable oils, spices, home-made sauces without salt.
    Mineral water.

FORBIDDEN WHILE TRYING FOR A GIRL

Salt and salt substitute. All salted or smoked foods, including salty cheese.
Coffee, tea, tinned fruit juice, fizzy drinks.
    Wine, beer, cider, liqueurs, aperitifs.
All meat and fish, except for daily allowance above.
White bread, pasties and biscuits, unless salt-free crisps.
Sweetcorn, popcorn, parsley, spinach, cabbage, cauliflower, mushrooms, courgettes, endive, avocados, fennel, raw tomatoes, soya beans, dried peas and beans.
All fresh fruit except those listed above as allowed; dried fruit. Chocolates and sweets.
Bicarbonate of soda and all prepared sauces.
All ready-made dishes whether tinned, fresh or frozen.

Now a word of caution. If you suffer from certain conditions, these diets may be dangerous for you. The salty, boy diet should not be undertaken by anyone who has high blood pressure. The girl diet should not be undertaken by anyone who has kidney stones or high blood calcium levels. If in doubt, check with your GP first.

And make sure that any restrictions you put on yourself don't lead to an unbalanced diet. A plentiful supply of nutritious food is essential just now to you and your unborn baby. When all is said and done the health of parents and baby is of paramount importance. If the diet upsets you in any way, come off it. Dawn Osborne said her cycles had become unpredictably longer since she had been following Mr Hewitt's diet. And the high doses of Vitamin C gave her diarrhoea and made her feel ill. So she stopped. Nevertheless, Dawn and Darren got their daughter by sticking to the correct rules for timing and sperm count. Kristina joins her big brothers, Matthew and James.
Tan, do you know if there are any supplements that might help with TTC a boy? Sodium and potassium are more readily obtained through diet, I take it? Salt and bananas for me!

I got that list from a book... can't remember what it was... some things on there I would change, eg, white bread for a boy, I would have brown bread (even thought it says wholemeal is a no-no...??). I found bread really confusing, still I think it's pretty hard.

What books do you think are good, Tanya? I just know if I walk into the bookstore there's going to be a few and given that bookstores stock TH, I don't know if I can trust them!

And I'm pleased about the wholemeal bread, one less thing to change!

    Hi,

Just wanted to pop in and say hello and hopefully get some tips for getting a girl next time round. DH and I have 2 boys and DH also has 2 boys from his 1st marriage so we would love a little girl. We are still not 100% sure when we will start TTC again but I want to be ready once we make the decision.

    Thanks Ladies

Jen there aren't any books that I like on GS. I have to say there is more reliable info on the net; eg journal articals etc. I Do have a book here I can post to you (if I can find it) if you like

Sky, 6-8 weeks for the diet before your first attempt.

    Does that help?

Well, I've been eating heaps of bananas and introduced salt into my diet again. Tan, do you think there are any physical changes you'd be able to notice? ***TMI**** possibly coming up... I think my CM might have changed (as opposed to just cycle changes), in that I'm a bit *itchier* and there's definitely more than usual. I feel like I might be tempting thrush (which is something I never get - do you think that might be a sign??).

Possibly. A diet change (although it usually takes weeks for it to affect your CM) such as the "boy" diet can make you more alkaline so therefore thrush can colonise more easily. However you do not want thrush because it will make you more acidic... confused yet? LOL

I get it. I don't have thrush, I just know the on or two occasions where I did it felt similar. Gah! I wonder if that's why I've never been susceptible? It would make sense...

Any other ways of telling when you might be getting the balance right (apart from the obvious one of giving birth to a boy)?

pH strips... use them every day and take take note of the moon... this also can change ones pH.

Alfalfa is good for pH too (for a boy)
