I am trying to get pregnant (well duh) and have been trying for some time.
We have been to the Drs and had some tests done. I am due to have a lap in March next year but my Dr has advised me to keep trying to drop wieght (having previously lost 30kg and not only having fallen off the wagon but had the waggon run over me I have ptu back on 5kg) - I need to lose another 20 kg which is not a problem.
My problem is that I luv coffee and even though I gave it up cold turkey when I lost the weight before I just do not know if I can give up my 1 cup a day.
I do however know that caffine is bad for trying to get pregnant so after all that my question is:-
How much coffee is it safe to drink when TTC or when you are pregnant or should I just suck it up and give up all together??
I have heard that 2-3 cups a day is ok..... but personally I still think that is a bit much.
I just have one cup a day - to get me going in the morning. During the day if I need a perk i'll have a herbal tea or an infusion - I tell myself that it wakes me up like coffee and it does kinda work!
I really dont think 1 cup a day is going to inhibit your chances of falling pregnant.....enjoy your 1 cup now.....when your pregnant you prob wont be able to stand the stuff.....!!!!
When I fell pregnant with my only successful pregnancy I was drinking loads of coffee - I was under huge stress and was drinking it constantly. I stopped drinking it altogether when I realised I was pregnant but the caffeine overload certainly did not stop me from getting pregnant.
I have always had my 1 cup of good quality real coffee each morning - pregnant, TTC or BF. I haven't found that it had any effect on these, however not having one certainly affected my ability to do pretty much anything else
I was never able to quit completely but I did cut right back. Apparantly it doesn't affect your chances of conception, but it does affect your chances of miscarraige after conception. I should find the article I read about it for you. Remember that your CM will increase if you are more hydrated, so maybe just have a coffee and an extra cup of water?
You can get a coffee substitute from the naturopaths (or Macro shops). Also, have you tried de-caf coffee? I know it's not quite the same - but worth a try.
