    Question Horse Riding & TTC

    Morning Ladies,

Just a quick question - I have 5 horses and I ride at least 2 of them evey weekend - we are TTC and I wonder if me riding for approx 1 hr a weekend would do our chances any harm?? Once we are UTD I will stop for the first 3 month - I dont want to stop riding while TTC as we havnt told anyone and I am trying to do eveything "normal".

    Any ideas would be appreciated!

Hi Kafer, i am not sure about that, i dont have my own horses, but i have been told it is bad to ride while preg due to the jolting etc, personally i would be a little unsure while ttc for those two weeks between ovulating and finding out IYKWIM, maybe while you are in the two week wait i wouldnt ride too much,

On the other hand, it is good excercise and i have heard too that as long as you have been doing something for a while, it is better to keep up with excercise etc that you are used to, maybe ask your gp the next time you see him/her.

I am sure if you take it easy and dont trot or canter too much you should be ok.

I hope i have been of some help!!

    Good luck ttc!!!!

I don't think that you need to stop riding to TTC.
I rode when I was pregnant but stopped when my bump started sticking out in front of me. My mother rode up to 9 months and so did my sister.

You definitely don't need to stop riding while TTC. I know women that have kept riding for the whole 9 months like Dachlostar said (I know one girl who competed in a World Cup showjumping competition at 7 months pregnant!!), but I was a bit too worried having had previous losses to chance it. My GP recommended the second I knew I was pregnant to get off and stay off.

    Thanks Ladies!

I will keep riding up untill I get my positive (soon I hope) and I might then take it easy after I know for sure - I think that my mum will be baring me form it for at least the first 3 months!!

Thanks heaps for the advice and Im glad to know that other woman out there can still keep up the normal things that they love!

My poor horses might not be so glad as they were prob hoping for a bit of a rest! heheh

    Thanks
    Kate
