How long for AF to return??

    Hi,

Liam is 9 months old, and still having around 6 BF's a day, so I'm figuring that this is probably why I haven't seen AF. But, as I'm a bit of an oldie (ok, 38, although I don't feel like it), I'm keen to not wait too long between babies, given that so much is written about how much harder it is to conceive after 35. I was really lucky with Liam, he came along much sooner than we were expecting (around 4 months after coming off the pill), but I guess I'm feeling a little anxious that maybe I've jinxed myself for number 2 because number 1 was so easy (if that makes sense).

So I'm wondering how long it took for AF to return to other BFing mums, especially if you're older (and no disrespect meant at all to the younger mums on here)

    Thanks

I'm a bit younger (23) but thought I'd reply anyway incase others are curious.
My daughter is 14 months, breastfed anywhere from 3 to 6 times a day and still no sign of my period yet.

Thanks Karina - wow, 14 months!! If I wasn't worried about getting number 2, I'd be thrilled to go for 14 months without AF!

My ob told me to make sure we used contraceptives after I had Will, because even though you won't experience a normal period you will still ovulate regularly. She said that many of her patients come in for their 6 week checkup and to get a script for the pill only to be told they are pregnant!

My DD#3 is 7 months and still no AF - i dont think i will see her till at least the 10 month mark. I fell pregnant with DD#3 when DD#2 was 10 months old, still breastfeeding and no AF - so im one of those ones that ovulated, fell pregnant, all without seeing AF.

The timeframes women get AF returning when b/f varies so much, it really is an individual thing.....
