How long did it take you to conceive, after more than 10 years of taking the pill ?
Hi here,
Will take my last pill this Sunday !
I am sure this question must have been asked a million times before... and whilst i know that it?s different for everybody i just can?t help but wondering how long it will take ...
I have been taking the pill for over 10 years and i do have to admit that i am not the temp taking, charting my cycle person...i want it to just happen when it is meant to be... and i am sure DH won?t mind the ?trying part ?
First time around I stopped taking the pill and had 2 cycles before we started trying (just to make sure my body was doing what it should). I fell pregnant after the first try (literally) once we started - I was 33 and had been on the pill since I was 17!
I was on the pill for about 10 years with only a couple of breaks of about 3 months each time in that whole time. Got my BFP after 3 months of "just seeing what happened".
was on the pill for 12 years. and only took the sugar ones every 3 - 4 months (so i only got 3 or 4 periods a year). stopped taking and started trying straight away (obvioulsy got a period when stopped). got one more period after that then fell. so basically 2nd month trying.
some people will tell u for however many years u been on it u should wait in months or at least 3 months so ur body can 'shed' the effects of the pill. all advise is different. the advise i got (from medical practitioner) is that all is fine to try straight away after 1 period so they can work out dates (however u can do an ultrasound for this). the 'pill' only tricks ur body into thinking its already pregnant so it cant be that bad!!!
as much as u say 'wont be temp checker' when u have ur heart set on it its hard not to become paranoid but just relax.
hmm - never say never i guess ? i am sure you are right that i might look into it down the track if nothing is happening for a while ? hope not thought ...
did you guys take any conceive well tablets or something ? i started to take folic acid and some multi vitamins but that about it, do they help or is it only making your ?wee pretty bright yellow and you wallet empty?
Hi I don't want to worry you or anything but I was on the pill for about 12 years and it took us almost 2 years to get pregnant with DS.
I hope your ttc journey is short and sweet.
yeah i took 5mg of folate a day. very cheap tablet from the chemist. like i think $5 for 50 or something. helps prevent stillbirth and spinabifida i think (baby brain... i forget)
I had been on the pill for 11 years and we fell pregnant after 1 cycle and we weren't even trying...one oopsie and now have a gorgeous daughter. Another friend was the same. So it can happen very quickly.
It would have been more like 15 years on the pill, and DS1 took 9 months of TTC. But I wasn't charting and I now think that I ovulate early in my cycle, so our timing would have been all wrong.
i am glad to read that the majority is/was falling rather quick
- as i am not really the patient type - it takes me ages to make up my mind - but once i have, i want to get on with it - just shows how true that is as i originally wanted to take two more round of my Pill and now since i am happy to TTC i couldn?t stand the thought of prolonging it any longer ... funny though as it only took me almost 8 years to get here
I came off the pill about 3 mths before we concieved...
We werent actually trying, we were using condoms when we thought that i was O, i knew nothing about charting cycles and yep, we counted the weeks wrong, actually DH insisted that we were fine to DTD wthout protection that week, and yep we fell pg! Poor DH was so looking forward to months of 'trying'
I strongly blieve that i would have concieved in the first month if we had been trying.
I do however have a friend that it took 3 years for her to, so i guess it depends on you rather than howlong you have been on or off the pill for iykwim
The first time round I was on the pill for 10 years & it took 3 years to get pregnant after I went off it (miscarried). I never fell pregnant again in the next 5.5 years of that relationship.
The second time round I'd been on the pill for only 2 or 3 years and it took 9 months to conceive (miscarried), then it took I think 3 or 4 months (miscarried) then the sticky one took another 3 months.
